Hey everyone! I grow more and more interested in creating a Dark Eldar army force. It should be around 1000 points. So I wonder if I could get some suggestions of what units to buy and what faction (which color scheme)?

What sort of theme appeals to you most? Kabal (lots of warriors), Cult (lots of wyches) or Coven (Wracks ect). If you purely want a competitive list then a mixture of all 3 is probably best. But if you're not fussed about tourneys or just want a fun fluffy list then most things are viable in one way or another.

As a starting point, you cant really go wrong with:

Haemonculi
Warriors
Wyches
Venoms
Raiders
Ravagers

But without knowing more about what you're specifically looking for there isn't much more we can suggest. As always, the colour scheme doesnt really matter that much, it's just down to personal preference.

Thank you for your reply! I guess I would prefer a Kabal-Coven mix! Not that fond of how the wyches look!

This is what I use:

Disclaimer: You will make no friends using this list.

Dark Eldar
Haemonculus - Liquifier Gun
3 Wracks - Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
5 Warriors - Blaster, Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
5 Warriors - Blaster, Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
5 Warriors - Blaster, Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
5 Warriors - Blaster, Venom with 2 Splinter Cannons
Ravager - 3 Dark Lances, Flickerfield
Ravager - 3 Dark Lances, Flickerfield
Ravager - 3 Dark Lances, Flickerfield
Total - 1000

Alternatively, drop the Wrack squad and one Warrior squad for a squad of Wyches in a Raider.

Yeah wolf's list is pretty much what a DE tournament list would look like at 1K. It is most definantly not for making new friends, but it is a really good and strong list.

Okay then, for a 1000 point list you're probably looking at having 3 (maybe 4 troops). The most common route to take is a 5 man Warrior squad (with 1 blaster) in a Venom for 125 points, but there are lots of other load outs that can work depending on the rest of the army.

If you write up a rough list working around what you like the look of it will make it a lot easier for others to chip in with suggestions

EDIT: 'd apparently it took me a very long time to write that short paragraph

I haven't played a singles 1000 pt tourney, but I just recently tied for first in a doubles tourney with this list.

It will stand on its own in a singles trourney. 13 AT guns which is over the minimum but not insanely over, and 60 poison shots a turn at 1K is pretty good. Not much will wether that well. I may have to borrow that list since normally I try to run trueborn not ravagers and normally not wracks either.

I prefer Warriors, especially since the squad provides an extra 8 poison shots per turn. Even at 2000, I only run 3x3 Trueborn.

Our local tournaments always have tiered objectives, so it's absolutely vital to have several troops. If you knew you wouldn't have many objectives, you could throw in some Trueborn.

Fair enough. Ours normally has variants of the three rulebook missions although KP is replaced by VP. So a lot of troops is still needed, but 4 blasterborn is going to do something to one of the 2 IG parking lots that shows up. Or I run them as mini-sniper squads with 3 man w/ 2 DL. Then I get them a venom that works as a gunship.

Which is a completely viable tactic. For 1000 point games (especially doubles), my list makes more sense for our area.

I'm confused Wolf 11x.. In the codex it says that you may take one splinter cannon per ten warriors. But you claim 2 splinter cannons per group of 5. This doesn't make sense. It should be 0,5 splinter cannons per group of 5.

The two splinter cannons are on the venom, which can move 12" and fire both. So that's twelve 36" range poisoned shots per venom. That's awesome.

What starless said. You don't give splinter cannons to infantry you run them on the transports where they are considered defensive can fire if you go 12" and always get the heavy 6 version.

Aha! The Venom is a transport? Know very little of Dark Eldar so I failed to realize that! Now it makes more sense!
