Here is an inexpesive way of making Snipers for the Guard (or even for SM scouts)
Step one; dig threw your bits box and find some IG with arms, a tooth pick, a pin, super glue and a sharp knife.

Step two; Take the tooth pick and cut it into 10mm rods. You'll get about 6 rods per pick (YMMV)

Step three; Cut the lasguns barrals off, you'll not need these so put them in your bits box (you may not need them now but you never know ).

Step four; Use super glue to stick a rod on the end of each lasgun body, try to make it a good strate stick or it will look alittle off.

Step five; Take a rod and with a metal nail file, file way at a 45 degree angel to make it look like the end of a scope. Then glue it on top of the lasgun where the iron sight is.

Step six; Use the pin to dig into the barral rod, remember not to go too deep as you just need it to look like some thing can come out of the end.

Step seven; Give them a very thin coat of super glue (or any selent will do). This is so that it soaks into the wood and helps it to stay put.

Step eight; ???
Step nine; Glue the arms to the figs. Here I've used the kneeling leg set of the heavy weapons kit.

Congratulations, you now have snipers that can counts as ratlings. Happy huntting them high points, multi-wounds IC

These snipers rifle conversions are very effective. I would like so see the conversion painted.

I agree, they look nice and all but a painted one could probably help sell more people on the idea.

I also guess if you wanted to make it trickier you could put the Lasgun barrels back on the end of it for the laser type sniper rifles I think I remember some IG regiments using.

Thanks for the positive feed back.
Althow these arn't the same ones in the how to steps (they are being painted as I type) they are made with the same method.

And yes, thows are 2nd edition paints, 17 years old and still going good'n strong

Silence! We thrill you!

I have been officially thrilled by this conversion. Excellent work. Now if only we could get 7 snipers per squad.

Very nicely done! For those of us on a low budget that's a really great and simple idea. I was just thinking of scratchbuilding some sniper rifles. I think I'll give it a go.
