Guardsmen could work. I'll personally be trying to stick in a Thunderpony cavalry.
Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.
Yes, Guardsmen could work, but we also have JI, dreadnought-esque vehicles, xenos weapons, etc.
Oh another rule for fun: If you're a unit in the codex, you MUST take yourself, because we all know how narcissistic we all are
As I said, I'll try and get a game in too. we should probably report back on what seems OP/UP too. Things can look good on paper, but be terrible in game (Punisher anyone?)

Why would i not take myself?
I'm in a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT...
Can anyone playtesting posts your lists each time you play a game?
Just so we can have a looksie at what and what isn't good and see whether that's because of other units or just because it's crap...

I'd like to add my self! Here I am (anyone who takes me will be terrified of how bad I am!)
I am an upgrade for a gamers squad costing 55pts (yes I appear overpowered for the cost but pasafist counters that)

this allows Seanaust to cast fortune (as eldar codex) counting as having ld 10 for psyic tests.
Pasafist:
Seanaust may only attack tanks. Against walkers he counts as having weapon skill 3. If in assult with any other unit he may not strike blows.
Just as planed....
Before the game begins, you may select one friendly, non vehicle unit. This may have any generic special rule listed in the warhammer 40k rule book with the exeption of scouts and infiltrate. Each game turn roll a d6 if the die shows a number under the turn number the special rule is lost. On turn 7 the unit automaticlly loses the chosen rule (if it hasn't already) and gains the Fearless, Furious Charge, and Counter Attack special rules as they attempt a death or glory attack.

Sorry, entries for characters closed months ago. plus, you're not a very common face around dakka.
A Wise Ork once said a profound word: WAAAAAAAGH! Then he got trampled in the incoming stampede! Current Army: Orks (2000+)

I think we've called it now on all entries, haven't we?

Options:
One Thunderpony may be upgraded to a Thunderunicorn for +30pts. It is a psyker with mastery level 2. It has the power 'Welcome to the Herd' and one Dakka Psychic power as available to the Fluff Lord.
Welcome to the Herd: (May be cast at any time during the Thunderunicorn's turn) Take a psychic test. If successful, place a small blast template on the Thunderunicorn. Any enemy model under it takes a leadership test. If failed, they are controlled by the controller of the Thunderunicorn for the remainder of the turn and the subsequent enemy turn, and are treated as being in the same unit as the Thunderunicorn. If passed, nothing happens. If a model affected by this power is Fearless, the lose one attack and one initiative for the rest of the turn.
Any number of Thunderponies may exchange their Hooves (for kicking people) for Diamond Horseshoes for +20pts (power weapon, +2S, -1I)
Any number of Thunderponies may take SPESS PONY armour for +10pts (3+ armour save)
Special Rules:
Thunderpony cavalry can only be taken if the army already contains at least one Brony.
Ten Seconds Flat: Thunderponies and thunderunicorns are fleet, have Furious charge, and are not slowed by difficult terrain.
Durza may be taken in the Thunderpony cavalry for his normal points cost, in which case he gains the Ten Seconds Flat rule, is treated as cavalry, and all his bonuses which apply to Bronies are instead applied to Thunderponies and Thunderunicorns. (There can still only be one Thunderunicorn in the unit though.)

Need? so FA is still open....
Can we sort it, I mean clean up what we have and what we don't?
Once Durza was a wargamer like us, now corrupted by ponies.. I think i have to put this pony-tar of him on my block list , too. Wouldn't trust these beasts, first they are all cute and then.....

As for FA... well, I don't know if it's open or not. One more entry can't hurt. Otherwise, I'd say we need to put an official statement saying the codex is now closed for entries. Then, it;s onto play testing, fluff, etc.
Oh, and the Thunderpony Cav looks good to me.

ok. So we might have some or all entries. Would help if our OP ended the silence he wrapped himself in.
Because, basically you seem to miss one or two things in FA and maybe others share that feeling ( which isn't a sinking or rising one! ).
Thus I may suggest again to list FA and discuss what is and isn't there.
IMO:
Fast assault contains any fast support unit, like bikes and speeders, cavalry and fast vehicles. Plus JI and beasts.
It may or may not provide units with a greater range than usual and tends to either:
- deliver focused hits to take things out quickly
- get ASAP in HtH.
I remember we got JI and cavalry ( now? ). Have to go back a few pages to find the rest.

Yes, I'd agree with your definition of FA. As I recall, DreadlordME! had the FA section last. I thought we were lacking units there, though I could have been wrong.
It would be nice to see Vampirate here again, hopefully with fluff for our great and mighty codex. We don;t have bikes aside from Veteran gamers IIRC, so cavalry fills a hole I think (again, might be wrong).

Yeah, they were meant to be fast attack. Though I put it in somewhere. Oh well. I was a bit unsure about the points cost. Originally I had them at thirty each.
I don't get the whole pony hate thing. I mean, it was understandable in the first few months when they were everywhere (I was pretty annoyed about them at that stage too) but now it's pretty much subsided. In fact, the only time I really see pony images around here are in avatars or when someone says they hope that they don't pop up. Which is pretty much an invitation.
As a side note, Dakka has the top three search results for 'Thunderpony cavalry'.

I'll have to take a look around my computers, I have the original Codex: Dakkadakka entries.
They were HILARIOUS.

Incomplete armylist + no fluff = no codex.
Someone should keep up the pace and not slow down. What you see here is a good example of a great start hitting the brakes as it took too long to complete things and those not answering requests to move on shall blame themselves.
IIRC we don't have any playtest reported. The background is nearly non-existant and the attention span seems to short more often than not.
Its really sad we can't get this done.

Well the playtesting still needs to be done. Fluff could even be written by the playtesters if anything performs admirably while doing it, then submitted for review by the fluff-writer supreme.

Is there already a pdf up? I think having all the rules together in one place will encourage more play testers, since its a bit impossible to find all the entries right now.

None that I've seen. There's a compilation post for HQ and Elites, but that's about it I think.

Farily sure I said something along the lines of "I cann'y do it cap'n! I haven't got the time!/ facilities to make PDFs!" several times, and asked for someone to pick it up. At any rate, we still haven't seen fluff or play tests yet.
