I went home recently and my Mum and Dad handed me a box of stuff from the garage full of stuff from my Pre-Teen / early teen years. Going through it, there was the expected things like 40k etc. But then I discovered some other items and object that took me right back to the early 90's.

"Asterix and Obelix annuals", I haven't read these for years and the annual were usually a collection of 2-3 books. I was skim reading them and actually as a *ahem 30+* adult i had forgotten how clever and sophisticated these books were. It's kind of rekindled my interest in the books.

So is there anything you've come across and gone "OMG I completely forgot about that!", i'm thinking things like POGS, TAMIGOTCHi etc.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I'm so peev'd I sold all my Lego at a Car boot Sail (I did however keep the Star Wars bits and bobs).

QUESTION ; - Anyone know why alot of our American Cousins say "LEGOS" as opposed to LEGO. It is a Regular Plural, so the same Singular as Plural, like Sheep. Do American's call a Flock of Sheep, Sheeps or a group of Aircraft, Aircrafts. It's a Lego Brick, or Lego bricks. Anyway this may de-rail the thread....

So what things have you re-discovered from your youth?

First of all, we're Americans, not "American is!" Apostrophes are for possessives, not plurals! I will say Lego Bricks, but I still call them Legos. Older collectors and builders will often call them just "Lego" but I called them Legos when I was a kid and it just kind of stuck. Fun fact: Chrome's spellcheck detects "Legos" as a mispelled word

Stuff I found from the ages of 10-14 were lots of Kryomek models, my first 40k models, heaps and heaps of Legos, and a small selection of Transformers. I collected more Transformers when I was younger and when I was older; after Beast Wars and before Transformers Animated I didn't collect many, but now my desk at work is covered in em. There's also a few comics, the last Pokemon cards I collected around 10-12, and some Star Wars and GI Joe action figures to fight alongside the army men against my Lego people.

Check out my Youtube channel!

Back then, I was very into Star Trek; packed away at my parents house is an extensive collection of memorabelia, including a ton of the Playmates action figures and playsets, comic books, video games, models, and Micro Machines.

Speaking of Micro Machines, I also have a huge collection of Military Micro Machines. My collection was large enough that I eventually used a 4'x8' sheet of plywood that I built islands on, drew sectors with a Sharpie, and then held games with friends using a modified version of the Axis & Allies boardgame rules. Funnily enough, this is years before I discovered wargaming proper as a distinct hobby...

Yeh they also pronounce the e in Legos with an accent. No idea why.

Some good stuff in here I forgot about "Micro Machines" being one of those things my Aunt's and Uncles would get me Christmas... God I had hundreds of them, and I think they caused my dad a broken ankle when he stood/slipped on a few, though he could never prove it!

One thing I found at the bottom of the box was a set of Citadel Combat Cards.

At that age, I think The main things I liked were Star Wars Legos and Micro Machines. I also had a ton of Star Wars action figures and Playmobile sets, and read a ton of the Star Wars EU books.

Overall, I was completely obsessed with Star Wars.

Kids today have no idea how good they have it. In my day, you were a minor and wanted to see boobs, you had to walk to the library (uphill, in the sno) and get some National Geographics.

When I was 10-12, Transformers and Voltron were serious business. My mother for christmas had saved and saved and saved and managed to get me an official Mattel Voltron (instead of the chinese knockoff Lionbot). I really enjoyed it for a few weeks, until it was recalled because of lead in the paint. That was a bummer.

I also remember having the Lego Monorail. That had a bajillion pieces as I recall and was a pretty big deal.

Later, we got an NES. I have a lot of fond NES memories, playing with my sister.

The only thing I can recall with certainty is playing NES, but at a friends house. I want to say that was the time of the Robotech novelizations, and I devoured those all the way up to The Sentinels storyline.

Your handle on Dakka should have been "Inflammable" ? I've got to be honest, I think we maybe long lost twins, drinking White Lightning in the local park was more of 15 - 16 Year old phase but yeah it was definitely there.

A few other things I found in the box, Original 1st edition tattered Terry Pratchett Books (Guards Guards, Colour of magic etc), "Power Extreme Centurion toys" (F***-me that was a random show) and for some reason Photon Guns.... YES BADASS PHOTON GUNS. They don't work now, but they look Ace!

remember the addon's that no-one but kids of millionaires could afford?

I think in 40k this is standard guard issue ?
