I am adding some inquisitorial allies to my Guard army and I am looking to include some Deathcult assassins. However, I don't really like the monopose metal kits from GW so I was looking to convert something.

I have considered Dark Eldar witches, but I don't think they look imperial enough.

What do you guys think? Is there a way to make the witches look appropriate or are there other options?

Trim the spikes and sharp edges off the Wyches armour, for a start. It might be a good idea to switch out the weapons with some spare power swords, some Guard ones would do nicely. As for the Wych heads... hmm. The helmeted ones, with a little of the more obvious DE bits filed down and filled in, would probably be your best bet.

Yeah. Dark Eldar Wyches are pretty much your best bet.
Also, just as a side note, it's an amazing kit.

Thanks for the links. Looking at that, the Wood Elf glade guard look nice.

Do you know a good source of swords that look right?

I used Skaven Plague monks but my inquisitional army is VERY specialist, but wyches chopping the spikes off is probably the easiest way arround it, Dark Elf Corsairs show some poetential too if its more of the dark sinister vibe that you want.

I went for Wyches and just gave them Dagger like Blades that it seemed DCA's would have as well as getting as many Wych Helms as i could find to make it at least seem Imperialy as you can't see the Dark Eldar faces, it makes sense too that an assassin in the future would have a helm like that! I can send some pictures soon if you'd like. However they are sprayed black so it'd be difficult to tell. I'll see how the pic quality is

Wyches with Purity seals and the choppy bits shaved off. Wargames factory spartans have a ton of good swords, spears and shields. Flagellants have a great selection of extra bits to mix with Wyches to make crazy puritan DCA and also have flails and scythes for Axes/Mauls so you can mix Swords/Axes/Mauls.

I'm still new to conventions but might I suggest converting some Lola Darkslip minis. Their short swords are pretty easy to convert into an Axe so they can have a Power Sword/Axe combo (I'll still messing around with converting the rest of the model) however I think with a little green stuff makeover they can catch the general Death Cult vibe.

Skaven hand weapons (new sculpts) work really nicely. It's how I converted my wych-assassins. I did some conversions, added some bits and additional cords/cables/pipes to make them look all brain-slaved via chemicals.
