On the 13th of May I ordered a Broken Blacktop Game Mat (4x6) and promptly paid. I never received any contact besides confirmation of my order, and have tried using the Contact US portion on their site. I understand they had an issue with the latex supplier (back in April), but it is darn near 10 weeks on since I put in my order with no contact. I am trying to hold out, as I'd like the item I paid for, and in good faith hoping they get their crap straightened out. Am I asking too much and should just file a Mail Fraud claim?

Has anyone else had such a poor experience with this company, and do you recommend any comparable or alternative companies which are better at communication (that make game mats)?

I ordered a mat and a lot of terrain a few months ago.
Waited for weeks too, but finally all the stuff arrived.

He even added a few free bits and pieces.
As far as I know it's a really small business.

Anyway. The quality of the mat is worth every cent I spent.

I ordered 4 mats from them and thought I would never get them, I was in the process of disputing the charges when my mats finally arrived. During the whole process I had exactly zero communication from zuzzy. I posted here on dakka and on the zuzzy Facebook page. I talked to others who had the same issues we all got our mats and never got any communication from the company.
I can't recommend the company however I absolutely love the mats.

TLDR: wait it out the mats are great.

No phone number, no physical address? That is not the sign of a good person to deal with.

I don't think you are asking too much at all. At what point do you go from "well they have taken ages with other people" to the order being lost?

From what I have read and heard, Zuzzy are extremely slow to manufacture/ship but if you are patient, your order will arrive eventually. Having said that, it is a bit much that they don't take the time and effort to not reply to customer emails etc. It doesn't matter how busy they are; they should put aside some time to reply to people - it would make things 100% better.

As an addendum, I ordered a desert mat from Hotz last year and it took a bit of time to arrive but when I emailed them, they replied promptly and courteously. Not bothering to reply to emails just is not on in this day and age.

I had a good experience with getting a mat from Corsec Engineering:

http://corseceng.com/

However, it did take about 4 weeks to get the mat once ordered. These long lead times are indicative of the fact that the companies selling them typically do not keep much stock on hand, and instead have the mat made from scratch once it's ordered.

-- So wait. You give the dude your money and then, at some point in the far future he may get around to sending you the product? The OP has been waiting over two months now? Maybe some mail fraud charges will snap this guy back to reality before he just completely disappears and takes your money with it. If you paid with Paypal or something you could really be SOL if you wait too long, so it's not just a "oh well, small business" thing.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up, here is a review from my blog about my experience with them.

The mats are fantastic. They are latex rubber and they roll up for storage. They come unpainted and smell rather bad. I will be posting WiP progress shots as I break out the airbrush and prep these suckers up.

My Experience in ordering from Zuzzy Miniatures was normal, item goes in cart, pay for items, get a confirmation email. Nothing out of the norm here.

Thats when everything went to total gak with this transaction. My confirmation said 2-5 weeks for delivery, even though the items were listed as in stock on the webstore. At the 5 week mark I sent an email asking about my order that went unanswered. At the 42 day mark I started a dispute with paypal (they give you 45 days) that too went unanswered. I posted on the Zuzzy forum along with other concerned customers, those posts went unanswered.

At the 7 week point I got an automated email saying that my items had shipped, 7weeks and 2 days after I made my order my mats arrived. All of my communications went ignored

I would easily rate the first two mats a 5 out of 5, and the Verdant fields a 3.5 out of 5

I would love to be able to buy this product from a different vendor as this company went out of its way to inore me and other customers that I was in contact with during this trying time. I would actually pay more for the mats through a different vendor to avoid dealing with Zuzzy as a retail business. I hope that they are able to repair their business model and get back to taking care of the customers that put money in their pockets. D-

I recently ordered a 2x4 matt to make some demo boards, and had no issues at all. It shipped right away and I got it real quick. Before I placed the order though I emailed them and asked if it was in stock and how long it would take. They wrote back with the info and I ordered it. maybe since it's an uncommon size they had one laying around already since people always order the big ones, but still.. no problems for me. Some day I plan to build a full size board with one of their matts.

I have been debating filling out the Postal Mail Fraud charge thing, and also submitting a complaint to the BB for the state the business is in. Before doing that I went onto the forums and posted regard this. Yesterday around noon (my time) I receive an email from the owner of Zuzzy Mats about how they have had a record number of orders which has built up a backlog. he stated my order was at the top of the queue, and it should be shipping out today or tomorrow (7/24/25). I honestly don't expect any tracking number, but hopefully it will just show up here int he coming weeks. Witht hat said I would not recommend ordering these mats due to the lack of communication. Heck I would of rather paid more for a mat from hotz or wherever and had better communication.

Love all the complaining about "fraud".

Did anybody actually not get their mats?

Everybody paid, everybody got their mats. Sure it took forever and there was zero communication, but bad customer service =/= fraud.

Postal fraud? How does not shipping something you paid for escalate to postal fraud?

I have never done any business with them, but this cracks me up.

I ordered an 4x6 cobblestone mat from Zuzzy.
The exact same experience that others have talked about.
It took about 2 months to show up. Zero response from Zuzzy about the delays.
The guy is apparently not interested in growing his business.
Let me tell you. If I ever get the room to do a similar business, expect me to start it right away because there is obvious interest, and all the market needs is a good business man behind the product for it to blow up.

Fraud Laws are in place to protect the consumer I was at the end of a 45 day period in which I could protect myself from fraud. Had the seller communicated with me I would not have felt the need to start a fraud claim with paypal. Had my mats not arrived on day 45 I would have completed the fraud case that was in progress, I also would have filed interstate mail fraud charges to try to collect on my $200+ loss as well as to protect others from incurring the same kind of loss.

I happy that I did not have to complete my Paypal claims against the seller, I wish the seller would have taken a 4 hour period every monday to read emails and update his buyers. That would eliminate %95 of the angry/upset crowd the other %5 usually cant be helped.
