i wish i could sculpt well...
i need way more practice...

i'm just staring with OSL, but i've got battle damage down...
i'm playing with zenithal lighting, but need to try a lot more colors...

i have yet to try sheer fabric and NMM, but i'm looking forward to playing with both techniques...

really, i just wish i had 48 hours in the day so i can take my painting, and my surfing, to the top level...
2 hours of each a day just doesn't cut it...
so many ideas, so little time...

cheers
jah

I wish I could paint faster. That's my main obstacle to having fully painted armies. I trim down my tasks and try and get things going as quickly as possible and it still takes me ages.

Actual quality of painting wise, I can always paint better if I have more time and/or could paint quicker I've never felt limited by the quality I can paint but rather the time it'd take me to paint high quality stuff.

I wish I had a better grasp on wet blending (like, being able to actually do it instead of just understanding the theory :p)

I took my first shot at OSL today and man, I really wish I was better at it. Didn't come out anywhere near bright enough. Ah well... practise

Mine is is like to have more advance knowledge of machining, I like to add lights to all of my models, and im wanting to add more mechanics, like servo controlled turrets and radio controled parts.

I wish I were better at blending. I also wish I were better at sculpting smooth surfaces with a clean edge, like armor plates or carapace.

Abilities with greenstuff could use some help, and I agree on the general consensus of wet blending. I understand the theory and concept, but can't execute it for diddly.

I'll be working on OSL and Zenithal soon enough, but I seem to be able to catch onto airbrushing skills faster than brush skills...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Freehand painting like banners, murals on the side of vehicles, etc.

I can do techniques, and other mechanical type stuff pretty well. However short of just basic freehand symbols like you see on a eldar wave serpent. I'm horrible at freehanding anything with multiple colors.

What skills do I wish I had? Uh, all of them. Duh!

Honestly, I'm somewhat comforted to see the number of people who, like me, have managed to accumulate near encyclopedic knowledge of things they can't actually execute for jack. Misery loves company and all that.

I think the real game-changer for me would be speed or self-motivation. Either one would feed into the other, greatly increasing my overall productivity, leading to more practice, more experimentation, and the resulting improvement of all other skills.

For specific weaknesses I'd like to cover, my top three would likely be:

-wet-blending - it would save me tons of time and effort that I currently spend layering and glazing to get smooth results

-anatomical sculpting - I can blend and resculpt organic parts just fine and I have a decent eye for proportions, but somehow I can't manage to sculpt a figure from scratch, human or otherwise, that doesn't look like utter garbage

-sculpting faces - I swear the ability to do it well is a rare genetic abnormality. I want it.

Exactly, self motivation is the skill I want most. Also I guess brush control. I always end up with a few bristles escaping and drawing little lines around what I'm actually concentrating on

Either sculping entire figures and scenery or paiting better. Perhaps giving OSL a try

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

My wet blending and NMM need improvement, but I'm not sure that I'll really need those skills for the time being.
Something I've learned from the hobby is that there's always room to grow.
