Good luck with the commissions Weety.
I know what you mean about judging (and pricing) your own work as I've also recently started some commission work for a friend (and his ebay shop).

Hey graven - I guess a couple of marines might be useful. I hadn't really thought about it but someone is bound to ask for marines eventually. What a terrifying thought, me painting plastic marines. The horror.

I do actually have a few modern marines I scrounged but getting the thick blobs of paint off them is still work in progress.

Well done Dr H - its always a great moment getting paid for being creative.

Another dark elf - this one is a more rounded sculpt - but I can't help thinking I ruined it by adding too much blood. Maybe a spot of gloss varnish would make it look more better-er. Also dark elf flesh - Have I made him too pale? Opinions please.

That's a male Dark Elf? o.O. Now I feel dirty.

Its hard to tell with elves. I think you were right the first time though! Those may be breasts I was painting - normally GW make them more obvious...

The skin looks fine to me. I like the skin on the dead head.

I don't think it's too much blood, although I may have put it as a smear across the middle of the sword to make it look like it was used for chopping the head off rather than stabbing (which is what blood on the tip implies).

Gloss would definitely make it more blood-like.

Very nice work there too! The dead head is my favourite bit of painting.

I think you could do well with commissions, I don't know if I've mentioned it before but there are a few Dakkaites I'd like to buy work from. I want to build up a reference shelf and your work would definitely have a place. Sadly I'm skint for the foreseeable future so it'll have to wait for now but one day I'll pm you and maybe get one of those cool mugs too!

I'll look forward too that!

Busy morning today - bought two Rosemary and co sable brushs, two pots of P3 armour wash and one of red ink, a couple of skaven plague monks and a new set of batteries for the camera. Thats my shopping done for the month - unless my parents get me cash for my birthday...

Also the last dark elf - glad to see the back of these to be honest. Remind me not to buy anymore dark elves even if they are a bargain. Sculpting in the 80s was very hit and miss.

Yes september is the best month. It is like baby bear's porridge - not too hot and not too cold. Also I can harvest blackberries and make free wine.

Its been a busy day - in between mountains of housework I have been slathering milliput onto card. I wonder what to make to go on the shelves - books obviously - but maybe some other gak too

Its a welsh dresser - I'm going to give it very small feet tomorrow. We had one at home and I see a lot of these in skyrim with random loot and books on them. Perfect for roleplaying.

That would be fun but difficult graven. Its not going to happen until I sculpt a luggage... I have sculpted feet before - about 10 times larger in scale though! Difficult.

In other news I went and uploaded a couple dozen of my best paintjobs to coolminiornot. Boy those people are hardasses. Average score was 6.2 and the best I got was a 6.9 so far. As I understand it that's quite good! Leaves plenty of room for improvement too.

Hah! More voting overnight and my best one is a 7.1 for my warhammer quest dwarf.

I've done some more to my little dungeon playset. I would really like to make a little helmet to go on the shelf but I've no idea how to do that in milliput.

Dr H - you mean smaller bottles than the wine! Tricky - much smaller and I'm splitting the atom.

rosemary and co brushes arrived today. They look perfect and I got 2 for about 9 pounds including postage. Try them out tomorrow on something.

Real tired out after work today. We have a tourist boom in cornwall and they all want cold drinks. So not updates till tomorrow.

Chow for now.

Tricky, yes. But not impossible. They wouldn't be too dissimilar to the necks of the bottles you have there, just with a smaller bulge at the bottom, if at all.

Couldn't think of anything else that usually appears on shelves in skyrim at the time. I stopped short of suggesting the various ingredients that appear...

Oo, how about some cast Iron pots and pans, they're popular.

A statue would be a real challenge though...

Dr H - a dagger would be great. If I make a basic dagger shape from milliput I can then grind it down to a good shape. Or I could just use sprue! I will try both.

Its fun scarper. Milliput and cardboard.
