The Bloody Claw has been quiet for several years, not raiding the prey-species at all; however it still thrives much to the confusion of the other Dark Kin. Akhara’Keth reveals the reason: he has bartered security from She Who Thirsts by throwing his Cabal’s loyalty to the Lord of Fate: Tzeentch.

Strange coincidence...

I posted this on Warseer Aug 2008

My name comes from a group of Dark Eldar who follow Tzeench's pursuit of knowledge and power instead of just the pleasures of the flesh- A fun homemade army that I justify by using Tzeench as a protector from Slaanesh letting me mix 1ksons and some Dark Eldar troups. Not imba at all eh?

The name was Archon of the Stolen Thought (from the respectively named Cabal)

Also, not accusing you of idea theft in the least bit, moreso, "Great minds think alike" (All are pawns to the Architect of Fate!)

Now I greatly anticipate the next parts of this reading. You are an excellent writer. Obviously, I can't wait for "what happens next" spefically towards Magnus the Red (possibly allying with the Space Wolves as a sign of forgiveness and apology in one, or helping Creed take back Terra) what Ahriman is up to (with the Eldar being like, almost dead and all) and where the ideas of this Bloodied Claw Cabal lead the Dark Eldar (I've always thought it interesting if Ahriman himself was acting as the emissary to Tzeentch for the Dark Eldar in exchange for assistance in obtaining the Black Library, thus my other Cabal, and custom codex for Cabal of Great Wizard aka Harry Potter army that consists of 1ksons and Dark eldar as well as new guys such as "rubric warriors" and "rubric Incubi"). Its very intersting the many directions you seem to be taking the plot without the old Emprah anymore.

For now, I'll sit and wait. I haven't had a good "Story time" in a while, so again thanks.

According to the rulebook, the emperor's soul travels through the warp, fighting the forces of chaos to make sure that they do not convert the entirety of our universe into a chaotic slop full of daemons.

I think this scenario would be great for a campaign to take the place of the Empire. The Tau would be especially happy because not only are they not affected by the warp, but they can easily take more and more planets back from the now disarrayed and crumbling empire of Humanity, and reforge alliances in the former Farsight Enclaves.

Personally, I think that the true death of the empire would come from an epic battle at the feet of his throne, after a massive army of tyranids, Chaos Space Marines, Necrons, or whatever else shatters Terra's orbital defense network and lands en masse on the planet. Tyranids would be the most likely to be able to mount such a large assault on the well-protected planet, but Chaos Space marines or Chaos Daemons might have the manpower.
Personally, I think that most armies would be able to approach and disable the defense network, since the emperor's soul is elsewhere, and the network itself is only a few miles thick. Several waves of interplanetary missiles would be able to destroy some of it.

Nothing wrong with personal opinion. You've taken a 'what would happen if...' idea and spun it into an awesome, galaxy spanning plot. Even if GW later does something to render this story impossible, that will not dull the quality and scope of what you have written.

Short of saying "And then the galaxy was eaten. Nids win. NOMNOMNOM" how would GW render this story impossible?

Creed wouldn't even need to attack it though. He could just outflank the whole thing

(Shadowbrand commented that his EC commander could do a better job than Abbadon and break through Cadia, making it to Terra. I replied that he would find the planet would have Outflanked him becuase Creed was counting on this and his fleet would be doomed.)

The only thing you left out was that his EC commander's fleet, which he had been leading for years, was actually a loyalist one biding it's time until he was stuck between a rock and a hard place

I'll admit I haven't read through the entire thing but is there an explanation as to why Eisenhorn is making an appearance? He lived several hundred years before the current timeline. For example, Tyranids had not yet been encountered when Eisenhorn was an Inquisitor.

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.

@Ozymandias: News travels slowly in the Imperium, it's entirely possible that many have not even heard of the threats assailing them, of even of the extent of the Imperium. And if you're an isolated inquisitor, there's every chance the news of a new threat may not get to you.

Things live much, much longer in the 40k universe than they usually do. Better medicine and bionics and whatnot, you know?

the life-span of an unaltered human on a prosperous world would be two or three hundred years, due to natural selction alone. so a heavily altered inquisiter would live much, much longer.

In the grimdark of the far future the lifespan of an unmodified citizen is squat all. Where are you getting 200-300 years?

A few hundred years ago our life span was 40 years. Science dictates that in the future we will live longer. Also where that citizen lives is a major factor, hive city citizen is very short, an aristocrat on some planet with clean air, water and farmable lands that is far from any conflict and war could live 200-300 years.

the way i had always seen things in the 40k universe, as pertains to life span of non-space marine humans, is that an un-augmented human would live average life spans, 80-120 years or so (120 being a very lofty number by today's standards, but with science possible). An altered human, such as inquisitors or nobles rich people, etc. could live 200-300 years easily.

Of course, an AdMech adept could live 1000 easily with enough "shedding of weak flesh"

Natural Selection alone? Yeah, right. Natural selection on your average Imperial planet means that roughly 40 years is a good life. For richer people yes, but that's becuase of juvenant drugs and the like. Not natural selection.

OK! ok, i exagerated. but natural selection would definately increase the life span of a human being in the space of 38000 years.

If the emperor dies they humanity loses hope. The ig crumble and lose all order. The space marines go mad and will probably charge into the eye of terror. The human race and its 'empire' will fall apart.
