Thanks again everyone for your comments! i'm really happy you like the recent stuff I'll wait and see how it all looks when the squads finished before I look at changing the method for the green, I was trying to go all Bobby Wong on yo ass!

@Redscorps: I'm glad you like my Exemplars and Wolf guard, two totally different styles i tried, those wolf guard faces are my best ones to date too, I was really happy with how they all looked together, the Sallies didn't take as long as I thought they would either! I managed to highlight 4 of them from the dark green on the previous page to what you see above in about 2 hours

@Axlbush: yeah, I like the menacing chaplain too! thank you for your comments and you are correct, yes he does have a big line up his arm, but never fear! I was informed as soon as I put the pic up and then also informed that the crozius arm looks crap! (thanks Pyriel! ) so I'm working on something different for him in the future, lets hope when he's done he looks even better!

@lipsapips & Knightly & jirc: You damn New Zullanders! from the looks of it the country breeds some awesome painters, and it turns out you all are pretty nice guys to boot! and what do you mean you don't have any cracks? what about the earthquakes? or was that a scam so we don't come over and steal all your women? 'cos you know I so would! (as long as Kristy doesn't find out!)

@kingcracker: Ah thank you my fine hirsute friend! glad you like the blend! it's good practice for mega Orky warbossy kikassy! but he'll hopefully be more khaki skinned than bright green

Yay, more work done! managed to find some time on my break in shift at work this past week! and thanks to bright lights I got a good result, only problem i found was a couple of small gaps in the front of the Landspeeders but i'm not gonna worry too much, when they've been finished you won't even notice
these two Landspeeders were originally the ones I had for my Marines Exemplar! but i got bitten really hard by the green bug! the infection spread quickly and there is no known cure! now as I've had no interest in my Marines army that i'm trying to sell the malady is urging me to paint them allllll Greeeeeen! .......... hopefully I won't go down that track, but it's a tasty option for me!

Well, now onto the models, I used the same colours as my marines i did earlier, but was unsure how to paint the larger areas of the vehicles so they looked the same, I ended up drybrushing which i'm not usually a massive fan of using but the results are better than I expected, I first drybrushed the highlights going lighter twice to see where it looked 'right' then blended the next highlight focusing more on the hard edges and finally the brightest highlight on just the very edges, now I need to work on the details and marines and weapons, chances are it'll be week after next when i get a chance to paint more for those that have been following my blog you'd know I'm kinda smack bang in the middle of renovations to my home, I managed to pull out and replace my kitchen last week and yesterday nerdfest11 and i pulled up all my carpet and underlay and move all the furniture in prep for a whole house full of lovely new carpet! which should be next friday! woo hoo! fun times... sorry....enough about that, you probably want models?

There we go, hope you like my new project? I tried to get an accurate pic but they are a little darker than in actuality, I took some mobile pics when i painted them and they looked damn near fluro bright!
I hope everyone is happy and well and having the time of their life painting? if you're not, why not? get painting, get happy!

Thank you guys, glad you like 'em so far, the blending looks pretty good but right up close you can see the occasional blend mark, but from the table i'm stoked as :-)

Ork transports eh! nope, no where near enough plates and rust on these bad boys! nor any checkered marks, i'll save those for Warboss KingKrakilla! :-)

Ahhh, gits, I totally can see my 'green' being perfect for a mantis warriors army ;-) but I'm dedicated to the heat and the forge now! lol

Nice job with the landspeeder. Green came out very nice. Don't worry about the gap, the landspeeder is a pain to assemble. My first speeder's body fit so poorly I had to put a 35lbs. dumb bell on it to make it stay in place while the glue cured.

Thanks Eggy, means a lot you like the green machines! :-) It's such a shame these models are hard to put together right, I love the model and in my lifetime I've only had one go together correctly, I tried copious rubber bands and weight but it just pulled other parts out of whack :-( one of these ones is o.k and as far as i notice apart from the glaring one the gaps aren't too bad over the rest of the body, I wish in hindsight I'd greenstuffed the gaps but I never payed attention :-)

never mind i'll have to try and paint them so well no one notices any problems!

See the ones I turned into buggies, have a few gaps in them as well, and I figured it was the previous owner that did that. Nice to know its just my speeder/buggies that have holes in em. At least on Ork buggies the gaps look right at home

Yes Dad!, I mean Jack!, sorry!

alright then update time! finally! i've been looking forward to this for the last couple of months! I managed to start a lot of stuff and get myself organised for the next phase of paint love!
did some work firstly on the Salamanders dev squad, I did the sergeant's head and started on the plasma cannons and backpacks, using my patented 'Nerdstick' I lightly glued the weapons and components onto it for undercoating black, after it dried I gave it a shot of skull white from the top like I do with Marines Exemplars, then washed the pads with badab black ink couple of time, that's all i'm at with them but the sergeants head is done, same deal as before, undercoat black use skull white to give you your shading then wash with badab black until you're happy with the colour! paint the eyes red, teeth bone and voila, not a bad looking sallie head done in record time!

Pics or it didn't happen!.....Nerdstick ready to rock!

Dev squad sarge head, looks good in any light, backpack still w.i.p

Next up was Warboss! he'd been lookin' at me for ages and I had to at least start something on him! I modified his gun arm when i got him a while back to make him look more intimidating by swinging his arms out to the side as if he's bellowing a challenge to the *ahem* puny 'Umans! my original idea was to get an Ork biker head with goggles to use as we all know I love painting my lenses, and I thought the bright glowing lenses would make a good spot colour for the rest of the model and look cool to boot! sadly I was informed by the Dakkasphere's premier Ork biologist 'KingCracker' that he would suffer a fate know as 'tinyheadoutofproportionitis!' and it really is as bad as it sounds! so what do I do? I don't have a head that's big enough and I want to have goggles on him? Kingcracker again to the rescue! he'll start wearing his undies on the outside if he keeps this up! he informed me to get the inside of an old pen and trim it down to make the goggles bases, then buy small hobby tacks used for boats with the rounded ends and trim them down to fit inside the circles, this then makes pretty nifty goggles! I didn't do a 'bad' job but I could have been more precise and filled the inside if the goggle with greenstuff to make it look better, but hey here's what i did so far

WAAAAAAAAGH!

Finally today I started an Imperial Fist marine as a gift for Bullyboy76, his stuff is inspiring and I love seeing his new stuff when he posts it up! everything is excellent and so well executed! his imperial fists termies were the models that introduced me to his work so to say thanks for his positive feedback on my own work I'm painting one up to give him! not having painted yellow before I did some research and found there are many difering methods that can glean you some good results, i wanted to properly paint mine so i got my paints and water and had a crack! I bought some P3 yellow ink to use as a glaze and decided to coat the model with it to start with and give me an idea of how hard it was going to be? turns out that the ink is beautiful! went on smooth and covered wonderfully, if I had of had another plan I would have used this to give me my panel colour! but as it's not how I had envisioned painting him I followed my original idea and proceeded to line the darker areas and shadows with devlan mud, I was trying to be careful but it's hard and I do have areas to touch up! then I mixed vomit brown and golden yellow and gave it a couple of thin thin coats to try and blend it slowly into the bright ink yellow, that's all I did on him today but he's coming along nicely. next up i'll blend some brighter highlights on him and re darken any bits that need shadows!

Ink wash and light devlan mud in lines...

Started layering on the golden yellow and vomit brown mix very lightly....

and this is where i'm at so far with him! looks alright, he;s a fair dark yellow but it'll serve well when i add brigter highlights to the edges!

Now, time for some porky pig!..... eh yeah, eh yeah, That's all folks!

looking forward to seeing what you all think and comment on, i'll do my best to stop being a 'bum' and be more regular now the Nerd cave is back in business!
hope to hear from you all soon!

Nice skin on the Ork bro! The goggles look great as well. How'd you go about the skin, green washes over the spray highlighted base coat?

Looks very natural.

Everything's looking great there Damo! Friday hobby times for the win!
