From 'seer, thanks to the ever reliable Mr. hastings..

I was going to post this on the other thread but it got closed, so ive made a list of what models the CSM players can expext, note that i dont know if these will all come at once or in waves, some of these (or click fit varients of them) are in the starter box.

Note also that ill not be adding rules or updating this thread in anyway so that will be up to you guys.

I'm expecting the codex to hit late October or early November (depending on if the rumour that the wfb WoC army book isn't out till feb 2013 is true or not - I'm still expecting that book in October)

Upcoming models:-

Raptors (plastic 2 types)
Dread looks like an angry obliterater on roids!
Obliterators look good but not as good as the "mauler" CC version
Dragon flyer is ok
Two deamonic Centauroid cannon things a bit iffy
Warp smith
Apostles
Cultists
Some odd walker thing
New csm marines (could be recut with added bits? Either way I didn't recognise them as current ones - but then again my 40k fu is weak!)
Chosen very nice too

I was really hoping that the flyer wave was going to be included in August. I guess 7+ various kits in one month is too much to hope for?

What about those comments which have indicated that August will be a busy month? I could see GW dumping all the CSM stuff (supposedly half the range in the initial wave) plus a release on those associated Daemon models/sculpts they have had laying around collecting dust.

I hear everyone yelling daemon and I get that from the video. But, at the same time ... a little too much 'chicken little' going on here just yet. I'd like to see a little more 'crying wolf' instead.

I certainly hope that Daemons stay separate from CSM. I'd hate to have to take whiny "I'm 20,000 years old and angry at my dad" marines with spikes on their everything in my much more sensible and mature daemons army...

Jokes aside, I AM intersted in what walker tanks the CSMs get. Games Workshop needs more walker tanks, and I might convert one for use in my IG if I'm bored enough.

All I want to see is MOAR NURGLES! But I'm really interested in seeing if they re-do the greater daemons, that would be pretty cool, especially if they are done in plastic with different arm/ weapon combos and plenty of bitz.

The starter serves primarily as a means for new players to get into the hobby. While it can serve as a great buy for existing players of the armies included in the starter is more a byproduct. Not to mention it's going to be a wait of what a month.....

It's simple, really. Johnny Anonimous buys a starter set to play with a friend. He likes the look of the CSM army, goes out and buys the codex, maybe evev byus some more models based on it.

1-2 months later, new codex is released. The old book was a waste of money. Also, some units he bought/painted based on it may be crap.

See how that can really taint someone's first real exposure to the hobby?

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

It sounds like you'll need lots of plague zombies. Be thankful so many companies make decent and well priced zombies.

NO WAY. Plague zombies have the opposite of what I'm looking for in my troops. Plague marines are t5, 3+ save, FNP. Very difficult to kill them, and you don't have to have a very large squad of them to be viable. Zombies however, have a gak save, probably less than 5 toughness, and you can't take a small unit of them that is viable. More walker tanks? Yes please.

I'm assuming the 'Deamonic Centauroid' will be like a mini soul grinder or something...

This sentiment is fairly funny considering the playerbase has completely engineered this buzz. We rile ourselves up into a frenzy of excitement and then get angry because GW don't live up to whatever we've collectively decided must be up for release.

Don't feel too sorry for GW. This is a potential outcome for them when they choose to avoid previews. It's an old rule of communication -- you can't NOT communicate. If you choose to remain silent, you still communicate *something*, even if it's engineered by your audience and wildy misinterpreted. I work in advertising. I'm all for controlling your message, but going dark isn't the way to do it. IMO.

Back on topic, the Daemon update makes some sense. There were rumors floating around on both sides of Daemons getting a new book, so it makes sense they were both right...they are getting updated, but they aren't getting a new codex just yet.

A wild guess on my part -- GW figures we're all making purchases to update our armies right now, and doesn't want to have a big new release when our spending is probably already high.

It sounds as if there will be plenty of interesting options to use as 'counts as' stuff for Pre-Heresy armies from the upcoming C: CSM.

And that is a good thing!

I'm really excited for either CSM or Daemons get updated. I play both and I have to say that Daemons do need some kind of utility to help them get into combat without getting mulched.

Yeah, a lot of folks were hanging their hat on August for CSM. That's a lot of FALSEs there.

The most exciting thing I've read about so far is new sculpts for plaguebearers. The current ones look terrible.

I am sad it looks like my Chaos Marines have a little longer to wait for a new book. However, if it means that Daemons get new models, new rules, and are potentially playable in 40k again then I am elated for my wife and her Daemons.

Very excited about the Plaguebearers. I resisted getting the fugly metals because I want 28 of them and did not want the same poses (or to repose metals). I barely held out for the plastic Crushers, now the PB's are coming... yay! The residual bits from the plastic kits will make the bitz box overflow in anticipation of the Death Guard expansion too... it's going to be a very yucky fall season on the paint table!

They still retain that goofy lego-look that a lot of sculps from 2nd Edition had before the series got a bit darker with 3rd.

Worst offenders with this were definetly Tyranids and Orks though....Oh god@early Tyranids & Orks.

I think Chaos Marine players can wait one or two more months for a codex before declaring the sky is falling. I have no interest in Daemons at all, but I know a lot of players do.

To be honest, they might have seriously planned on CSM this month, but it sounds like they had some last minute MAJOR changes to their planned release. Weren't they saying they had recalled the oringal white dwarf printing?

Yeah, what was supposed to be the stuff they pulled from WD?

I just cant get excited for the demons, I only do khorne and tzeentch for both fantasy and 40k and these new releases seem to be all nurgle and slannesh love. Maybe the soul grinder if it looks cool enough.

Maybe they had to pull the CSM stuff for some reason.

Distribution issue maybe? I read somewhere that GW was not happy with how distribution went with the 6th ed rulebook.

maybe they want to take an extra couple of months to make sure they have plenty of back up stock in place before they launch.

Shhhh! You're giving all these incorrect rumourmongers excuses!

As for the soulgrinder, is it getting a fantasy sculpt or are they simply adding bits to the 40k one?
