Well, if it's biological, it could perhaps belong to some 'nids at a stretch, or some other foul xenos, or genetically modified from an indigenous species on some far-flung colony, or chaos...or perhaps it's the 40k equivalent of a D&D mimic I seem to recall I had a penchant for trapping outhouses or stalls in several games I GM'd.

If it's more mechanical in design then it could go Chaos way....

There's a variety of interesting sub-paths that could be taken with the basic premise.

the play set was probably a pain to build...tho looks brilliant!...I bet your kid has a lot of fun with it...was the birthday already or is about to happen? and is the play set a present? if so, how did he react when that present is already built and not wrapped in gift packaging? does he accept it as a birthday gift?

the recycling plant is a nice interpretation of the comps theme... looking forward how you go from there...

Thanks chaps. Little dude's birthday was Thursday, party today. He happily unwrapped a wee playmobil fire car and police keep, then was blown away when we opened the curtains (I'd moved it out into the garden the night before and wrapped balloons round at 6am).

Still pretty down, lurking mostly here, trying to get my gamer mojo back.

Speaking of which, started adding more crud:

Microtube caps for detailing and those infuriating plastic toy tethers for walkways (will hold metal mini weight, ork for illustration!)
Thinking some cable tidies for pipework next. Going to fill in the gaps with pva for slimy "water". Not sure what to do around the edges, just going to keep scavenging.

I think while RL might hold slippery stones for us all day, hobby work helps me to get calmer and relax a wee bit... that and the kids...I should rather be doing homeworks but I'd be damned if I let a good Saturday evening go to waste like that...

How do i get epic cakes, I want to be 4. Well waste recycling sounds like a good project.

She really has blown us all away with this one. She used one of the kids' iron man masks and did it by sight. The hulk fist is my hand! Both made from rice krispie cake, as is mjolnir.

Yeah, rl a bit sucky. Still, have health, job, 2 cracking kids and a lovely missus.

when I was in my first job I was able to measure 50g of leberwurst...(special greasy meat pasty...) and I was totally precise just by sight and how the material is in your hand... you weigh it and you just know how much you need to cut... it is a talent that comes to you after some time... all hard earned experience... meaning...your wife got a ton of that it seems...
by the way... what LED´s did she use for tinman´s eyes?...could be interesting from a hobby perspective...

I like your current work on the entry... but it raises some questions... the raised rim... will this be a fence like structure? or wall...or will you build a base for this all and have the rim on ground level and thus the pipes be on ground level too?...

I think the piece needs a big and ugly smoking chimney in the middle... something that father nurgle would be proud of...

also I think the walkways are a tad too narrow...would you agree?...maybe with added railings it could be working better?

Well, to answer your questions:

There will be a wall around the edge also, made from plastic kitchen foil holders.
I wondered about a smoking chimney or something, but I want it to be a generic (albeit derelict, or at least decrepit) piece. I suspect in the middle will be a hatch.

I'll ask the boss about the LEDs, they have replaceable batteries, which is a winner.
