Are those puppetwars missile launchers? I thought you had big trouble with their stuff. I really want to order some models from them, but I'm afraid they will come ruined before I can even mess them up.
Aw shucks They are, and I did. There was an insane amount of milliput, gs, drilling, pinning, sanding and swearing required. But they look purdy.
Gitsplitta wrote:Excellent work graven! You're really cranking them out!
I always was a bit of a crank fits and starts; bursts of stuff. Hoping to get more done Saturday (see below)
Yellowbeard wrote:Love the turquoise on the stone gray, Graven.
Cheers mate; also, you're alive! Bravo! The wife has observed that it's a very girly, Tiffany & Co set of colours. I think that's a complement There is a SoB order that's the Order of the blue something or other, so they're ostensibly that.
Dr H wrote:Nice work on the tanks and Simulacra.
The tracks look a bit too similar in colour to the rest of the tank, are you going to be doing more with them? Might just be the lighting in the photo...?
Nice work on the waste recycling project. Is that wall a section of skirting-board?
1) They are darker but I think they need to be further muddied, liberal application of VJ smokey ink required, I think.
2) Thanks. It is a bacofoil easycut carton, one side of. The rest of it's proving very sticky (labels) so getting it cleaned up just now.

Go with what you know, I say It is changing slightly, the use of smokey ink beneath it is really helping add definition.
Camkierhi wrote:Looking great.

Thanks, thanks, and thanks again it saddens me that I wouldn't recommend them though
Viktor von Domm wrote:I wonder if the drybrushed grey/ blue mix could be made to look as marble...?
Well that's sort of what I did for my Weeping Angels, which were essentially a precursor to this colour scheme
Knightley wrote:Looking pretty awesome mate!
Thanks mate, high praise indeed!
So I've not made masses of progress. Wondering what to turn my attentions to off the back of these: wondering about resurrecting/finishing off the rest of my SoB tanks
Have discovered Cartoon HD, a movie app, and so the wife and I are finally catching up on movies that we've missed, Robocop and Looper so far this week. Trying to get out of our rut generally, enjoying movies and time together rather than being distracted by phones/tablets etc.
Still, she's out on Saturday night, so I'm going to make a push on... something. As mentioned, possibly SoB tanks? Some building work on the terrain, obviously, although after the outer walls it's just the doors and detailing on them (no idea what the doors will be made of yet. Clearly, I need more rubbish. Also sitting on my table are the Orks from the band and the Ordo Astartes warband. Or I could distract myself further and build a wee Hereticus warband instead for the wife of the guy who I did the Xenos band for (she wants a female/fire themed band).
Your thoughts appreciated as always! Thanks for all the support in getting me out of my deep blue funk, it's really helped - muchas gracias, and so forth,
graven

What, the stone? Prime grey or black and then.paint grey, vj smoke ink into all the shadows, drybrush progressively lighter grey then ivory.
I need to chop the flamer barrels off the metal gunners and replace with melta (plastic rod time!). One needs a top hatch as the outer right tank is staying modular as exorcist/repressor /command tank.

Cheers chaps. Decided to muddy the chimera a bit more:
Didn't get much else, chilling with my boys, watching "star wars snow"(empire) at the request of the little dude. Added purple to the tanks:
Really good quality time with family and friends. Makes all the difference.
Here's a question. I don't use the clips from my RoB: does that make them waste, and therefore fair game for using on the league project?

Ah right. There's no rule against using kit pieces in your entry. There are extra points for using non-kit pieces over kit pieces. My interpretation of that is that kit pieces are the bits that make up a model in a visual sense and incorporate details "in scale". The clips, as I see them, are functional, but don't add to the look of the model (in this case the RoB board) and I would say they are non-kit or waste as they are being used for a purpose other than that they are intended.

Sorry been away.
Dr H hit the nail on the head. There is nothing against using kits, in fact you could make an entry using nothing but, say the imperial sector set. But it would carry less points and favour than if you scratch it from misc. parts. Also as far as I know no one actually does a toilet model, bar us lunatics on dakka.
The idea is to encourage people to recycle or repurpose materials and to have a go at scratch building. For a start it is cheaper, then there is the obvious skill used compared to buying a kit and making it.
The clips are a perfect piece of kit to be repurposed in your entry, and I look forward to seeing more work on it soon.

And here are the clips:
TBH, I have no idea what to use them for!
Spent a chunk of time making new melta barrels for the immolators out of styrene rods left over from caking; decided they were too thick :( going to try a balloon stick next. Not going to be able to cut horizontal grooves in that, though, so might try just freehanding them!

As to grooves. Cut one length full, then cut another into strips glued on with gaps. Curvature should be ok. and there you have grooves. Just a suggestion. Automatically Appended Next Post: Give it 28 years, till I retire and can live a life of leisure!
