Subject: WARSMITH's Blog - WARBOARD KICKSTARTER HERE
Warsmith is/will be in short, a design and production studio of tabletop war-gaming miniatures and parts.
This Dakka blogs aim is to show all of your guys the majority of the design work and sculpting of WARSMITH's upcoming range of miniatures.
So, who’s the ‘brains’ (I use the word loosely) behind this venture?
Well you may have figured it out by now, its me Steve Smith – AKA Hits _The_Spot. Iv been an avid wargamer for the best part of 2 decades now. And having dipped my toe into the world of production with some encouraging success, I have made the decision to take some time and create a unique tabletop universe.
A unique tabletop universe you say?
This includes:
- A simple and entertaining game system
- An enthralling story line/setting
- And of course great miniatures and scenery.
So what now?
Well, iv been working away over the last few months designing a game system, writing a back story and delving in to the world of 3D printing. Yes you heard it, 3D printing, I’m jumping on that bang wagon.
Over the next few weeks ill be showing you designs and prototypes of possible miniatures and detailing the forthcoming game. I’ll also be asking for feed back and requesting your advice as to what you would like to see from the project. I’d like this project to be in part, a community project. So don’t hesitate to leave a comment or let me know what you think.
For now, ill leave you with the name and a few pieces of artwork to hopefully pique your interest.
The name i’ve decided to choose for this venture is, wait for it………
Epoch, for those who don’t know, means (at least for this purpose) a historic period of time. I think this is quite appropriate for a wargaming universe and have built upon the idea in the storyline and setting.
The factions populating this universe so far are:
The Empire:
The Ministry:
Insurrectionists:
Traders: To be updated
Xenids: To be updated
Indigen: To be updated
These concepts are from a very nice guy and great illustrator, to see more of his brilliant stuff and a very interesting blog, take a look at: http://ngaat.wordpress.com, you can also visit the WARSMITH blog at http://warsmith.co.uk
Heres some more stuff for your approval:
Empire Infantry
Insurrectionist Infantry:
Ministry Infantry
Ministry Combat robot/droid
Empire Utility Tank
And heres a few weapons designed for 3D print.
Assault Rifles:
Laser Rifles
Heavy Rifles
Energy Rifle
Well, there it is. Id love to know what you think.

Glad to see you are still going Hits! I was worried that you had vanished .
All the concepts are looking great. Simple and effective, I can see me getting quite a lot of stuff from you in the future!
The gun renders are perfect, they match very well with the previous ones that you sold. I would say that the stocks look a little plain but everything else about them is spot on!
Love those assault rifles w/drum mag and those Insurrectionist Infantry are really striking my fancy although im not sure why. Looking forward to seeing more. Any plans for other weapons??
I'm liking all of these so far. I can't wait to see some printed weapons and robots. The infantry concepts look really good as well. I would buy some just to paint.
Yeah, my plan is to use the computer for what its good at, e.g armour, weapons etc. But do the more organic stuff by hand. I hope this will give the finished miniatures a clean, crisp but still natural look to them.
For anyone thats interested, Im currently working on the Rule Tome for Epoch. its getting there, iv had good feed back so far, but there are some large creasers that need to be ironed out. As soon as i'm at a stage where i think its good enough for wide spread play testing ill make sure to let everyone know.
Great to see you are back sculpting! Will be watching this thread with interest (and might be worthwhile making a post in the News/Rumours section as well when you are selling, I'm sure it will be popular!
Hey guys, sorry for the long gap between posts, I've been pretty busy with the project. So busy i haven't left time for as many Dakka posts as i should.
Heres some more concepts,
Empire Tank:
Empire Flyer:
And if you didn't already know, there is a free download of the WIP epoch rules available at WARSMITH.CO.UK

Those latest concepts have got to be the best yet! The tank kinda reminds me of the Star Wars battledroid hover tank thing with its turret set back like that. The troop transport/carrier looks brilliant as well. Two very unique designs from the same chassis which I like.
Any rough idea when we can be seeing these concepts come to life? I am good for infantry at the moment (Dreamforge and Sedition Wars are to blame for that!) but I am still lacking in the tank department and you seem to be designing exactly what I am looking for!
I'm all over those droids when they get released. I've been waiting to collect some good looking robots for years and these look like they will fit the bill nicely.
Glad to hear everyone is happy with e concepts so far. I'm planning to get going With the model generation soon. But at the moment I'm working an accompanying product, which if your interested is feature on the warsmith blog. Once if got things a little more finalised I will of course put up all the details here on Dakka.
Hi guys, sorry for the long time between posts. There are some more concepts up on the Blog at www.warsmith.co.uk along with some more information of how the epoch and warboard projects are coming along.
Hey guys, yet more added to the Wordpress blog. I will get round to updating this daka thread with some more pics soon. And details on a great product I've nearly finished developing.
As hinted at a little while ago, I have been working on what I think is a great little product to accompany epoch, or any other 28mm wargame. Check out all the details on the warsmith.co.uk blog.
