MEXICO CITY - Authorities say a nine-year-old girl has given birth in western Mexico and they are looking for the purported father, a 17-year-old.

Jalisco state police spokesman Lino Gonzalez says the baby girl was born last week at a hospital in the city of Guadalajara. He says the girl and her baby are doing well.

Gonzalez said Wednesday that the girl's family alerted authorities after she gave birth and the alleged father has not been seen since in the neighbourhood they both live in.

He says that if the teenager's paternity is proven he could face child sex abuse charges.

Gonzalez says the girl told authorities the teenager was her boyfriend.

Well biologically speaking there is nothing wrong with a 9 year old giving birth aside from some unforseen mishap during the birth it self, because you know if your body is ready to roll then there's nothing you can do about it.

Oh yeah for sure. Never said it was a good thing. Its probably not good to be having kids that young. I'm not sure what giving birth would do to a 9 year old body but i can't imagine it would inherently good for her.

What i'd like to know know though is what she was doing with a boyfriend almost double her age... Were her rents completely clueless or is this more common then i know?

Right now ive composed myself. This is sick. What gets me though is the fact that her parents didnt know she was dating a guy nearly twice her age. I mean how can they not have And how does the girl know what a boyfriend is cos we didnt know properly at that age (we had some ideas and a general overveiw but nothing specific) and also how could a nine year old get pregnant-i mean she is so young and at that age the functions arnt ready.

All in all this is some sick gak and that [insert sexual desease afflicted genitalia part here] should be tourtured to death for this.

Lina Vanessa Medina, from the Ticrapo District of Peru, gave birth by cesarean section in Lima at age 5 1⁄2. The infant was 2.64 kg (5.8 lb), 47.5 cm (18.7 in) boy, and was named Gerardo. Medina's parents, who assumed their daughter had a tumor, took her to a hospital in late March, where she was found to be 7 months pregnant. By interrogating her parents, the doctors understood that Medina had entered into precocious puberty (when hormone glands are activated earlier than normal) very early after her birth.[1][2][3][4][5] Although Medina's father was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, he was later released due to lack of evidence, and the baby's biological father was never identified.[1][4] Suspects included her father, her 9-year-old mentally defective brother,[6] and a drunk villager.

Of course, if her descendants take a similar path in life she could see 7 generations, with the 8th on the way by the time she dies assuming good health. If we assume she as about 5 kids, and her kids do the same she'll have 25 grand children, if they do they same 125 great-grand children and so on. That could be close to 78,000 direct descendants in her lifetime.

Well the children of her siblings wouldn't be her direct descendants now would they? In all serious, no obviously that would not happen. Almost nobody has kids at 9, and shouldn't. It's a freaking and depressing situation.

Well, that number is easily reachable without giving birth at age 9. I know families that have 10ish grandchildren right now, 25 isn't impossable.

Heck, lets do a little calculation here.

Assuming someone has their first child at age 18, and has one every 18 months thereafter for the next 30 years, thats 20 kids from one person alone.

Humans can have a surprisingly high reproductive rate if we want to. And 15-16 is around the age that a women can safely carry a child without any specific issues. So thats another few years of child bearing.

I know they're not direct descendants, I was curious if they had other children, and the number of kids that they had. It could work as a pretty good age of when the family "usually" creates the next generation.

That last part particularly bothered me. I can do little more than feel sympathy, unfortunately.

And as tragic & sick as this story it is, it still pales in comparision to what happens to girls living under Sharia Law for example, or certain practices in Africa involving female circumcision.

Overall, you'd almost certainly never want to be a girl/woman living outside of modern western cultures...

Despite women making up 51% of Canada's population most of the best paying or the jobs that have the most influence over society are usually done by men.

Right... but, it isn't as simple as that.

Which itself isn't a problem. Its a symptom of a problem, and the problem may not exist in a certain specific situation.

If the military altered their fitness requirements for men and women to be the same(which they should) it would result in fewer women in the army than men(assuming an equal rate of volunteering between the 2 sexes)

This would not be discriminatory.

In the same veign, it is possable that certain jobs may simply not have an equal number of qualified applicants from both sexes.
