Nice update Joe, glad your connected again

Termies have really come out nice
The Nurgle defiler armour plates look awesome!!!!

I can say that rust comes up best over metalic paints. Just dry brushing dark brown over it comes out nice. Then use sepia wash if you want run marks.

Thanks! I'd like to try verdigris on some of my vehicles. What base colour should I use?

Correct me if I'm wrong: you start with a metallic layer (like boltgun metal), then add some brown to orange weathering, and finally some Hawk turquoise around the rivets?

Mostly, on my phone.

For cryx I used a reverse method that I found on the privateer forums: start with gamecraft Deep Bronze Green, or similar (Vj Russian Green works quite well), heavy drybrush bestial brown, then lightly drybrush either dwarf bronze or Vj tarnished Copper (or both), sepia wash and then a very, very light dry brush of hawk turquoise. This gives a very rich verdigris, not as subtle as Ygg's awesome version. Excuse the rubbish pic/threadjack, but you get the idea:

Well, actually it's closer to : Chaos Black, stippled / drybrushed Boltgun Metal, then directly Hawk Turquoise + Skull White + Water in the recesses...

Example here : http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/226313-Gretchin%2C%20Orks%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000%2C%20Weathered.html

But I guess some brown / orange hue in the metal would be better beforehands...

Erh... Sorry graven, but I cannot pick any detail on that pic It looks too dark on my computer...

As for my so-called "subtle" technique, as you can see above, "simple" would be more appropriate lol...

But yours is definitely interesting, actually, I might give it a shot one day !

Those Thousand Sons Terminators are TOPS! Unfortunately, GW Legal is going to be contacting you soon because you had an awesome idea that they hadn't bothered with yet. Sorry.

Ace work on the Death Guard. You know how much I love anything Nurgle, and your work is always A+. Looking forward to seeing where the Plague Hulk goes.

Thanks Wehrkind, I wish I was able to show some finished models more often . Yet, since I have decided to start nothing new until I've done all I have in the "dark and shamefull drawer of projects to finish" it might happen more frequently, who knows...

I've been away from a decent connexion for a while, but as you can see, I try to be as productive as possible! I'm glad you like the dread, as I say, tentacles are a mark of good taste.

Skalk Bloodaxe wrote:Those Thousand Sons Terminators are TOPS! Unfortunately, GW Legal is going to be contacting you soon because you had an awesome idea that they hadn't bothered with yet. Sorry.

I'm pretty sure I could manage to get a compensation from them for the time I spent on the realisation of something they forgot to make so I was obliged to do it myself

I'm really glad you like it, for some times I considered to use your leather covering technique for the Land raider and rhinos, but I must confess I was lazy. BTW nice job on your possesed ones!

templarboy wrote:I really like your T-sons terminators. Can we get a tutorial on how to make those outstanding helmets?

Thanks, unfortunately posting a tuto for this on Dakka might not be recommended since it implies partial green stuff recasting. However, any interested people can PM me

Sorry for not posting anything new these last weeks, but being a responsible father sometimes mean sleepless nights and being too exhausted to get my stuff on the shelf to start working on something. I hope I'll be able to show you something new soon... or something old you've never seen yet

A la prochaine!

Joe

For the verdigris on my Necrosphinx and Khorne Berserkers I used a very watered down Verdigris (they have an actual colour for it) from Vajello.

I did a mix of goblin green and electric blue with alot of flow improver. As per a Lbursley tut vid. It came out very nice on the copper pipes on the back of the doom grot, but the pic does not show it well.

Hey there!

It's been some time since I last updated this thread, but, while working plasticard for my Gorkamorka fort, I took 10 minutes to add pistons on my Thousand Sons DP's mechanical wings:

I still need to add some GS to blend the pistons into its flesh, but what do you think so far?

I like it! Looks good! Can we get a wider shot the see the extent of the wings?

Edit* Nevermind. I looked back on the last page and found what I was looking for.

Excellent start, but be careful. I know a guy that has a terrain project that wound up stalling dead flat because he started doing a bunch of Plague Zombies while waiting for some glue on his bulkhead to dry....

That poor guy must feel despaired to see his terrain project in this state...I hope he won't do something he shouldn't, like...smashing a building...

Hey there!

Yesterday, I've found some time to work on the princes, starting by preparing a propoer crown for my Thousand Sons DP.
Here's the rough first step (sorry for the blurry pic):

I've also worked on my first Winged DP:

What do you think?

I think the theme you are going with for all of this is impressive and is going to work brilliantly. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Well, I'll mount this crown on the same defiler mask I've used for this prince:

Then, with the help of GS and plasticard, I think I can get something with the real TS feel.

I'll use the same armor parts as for my two others plastic princes (basically the leg plates) as shoulderpads, and I'm thinking of using the DP arm with an axe and plasticard to build something like that:

What do you think?

Yeah, that will work perfectly. I'm not usually the Tzeentch guy (for a couple reasons) but I really enjoy the work you are doing here.

I've just received my last bitz order today, including the defiler mask for the TS daemon prince.
Here's a mock up of the head:

Once it will be glued, I'll fill the gaps with GS, then I'll work on the materialization of the stripes (should I carve them or use plasticard stripes?)

So, what do you guys think?

I think it'll look great!

I would use plasticard strips if you make sure they are uniform width.

I also think the butt plates on your winged daemon prince look pretty good!

Thanks man!

I'll go to my local modelism shop to check if they have 1,5mm stripes.

I've tried to draw the shape of the khopesh yesterday, but it wasn't what I'd call a succesful attempt... I guess I'll have to be patient.

Agreed on the plasticard strips, will look more uniform.
