Oh, wait. I meant Eldar.

Does anyone else think that these new Eldar are looking rather like power rangers?

They also seem to think that bigger is always better:

Not especially. Power Rangers robots are a lot blockier than that.

Eh, the Eldar always looked like Power Rangers to me.

That knight though...isn't that titan sized? Why is it bigger than a lord? Don't lords outrank knights?
I think GW is getting silly with their names...

Knight Sized.
Which is... mini-titan sized. A stepping point between regular units and Titans, though not actually Titans themselves.
Pretty much the absolute limit of size on non-apoc based based units:
For example:
Spoiler:

My homebrew Dark Eldar Magnatesque (Formerly a small Gargantuan Creature, but now just a Monstrous with how many things are the same damn size as it
My part-done CSM Knight Class Defiler, and a Tau Riptide.
The Wraithknight will likely stand a good inch or so above my Knight.

It's the fact they wear bright, primary colours and relatively skintight outfits. :p

Red Ranger - Fire Dragons
Blue Ranger - Dire Avengers
Yellow Ranger - Iyanden
Green Ranger - Striking Scorpions
Black Ranger - Dark Reapers
Pink Ranger - Let me get back to you on that one.

Nah, Knights have always been somewhere between a Dreadnought and a Titan in 40k. The Wraithknight is basically an update on the old Eldar Knights from Epic: 40,000.

Oh ok. That explains the knight part of its name then. I thought it had something to do with rank.

Pink Ranger = Harlequins (seriously, those guys need an update. I might actually play eldar if I got to kill the opponents with clowns)!

I think space marines fit the power rangers theme more.

Why does higher ranked have to mean bigger?

And did anyone tell Napoleon?

Huh so a bit of googlefu turns up that the original Power Rangers first game about almost exactly the same time as 2nd ed Eldar (introduction of the aspect warriors). Coincidence!? I THINK NOT!

In all seriousness though, I wouldn't say the design of the Wraithknight is any more reminiscent of Power Rangers, than it is of Neon Genesis or a range of other Japanese mecha design work.

And hell yeah I look forward to getting one, its badass.

No, but it does usually mean more powerful, like in most game settings and in the current GW mentality, size is power.

Unless the Lord now has some neat AoE buffs now, like the IG leaders.

But as I said, I now understand that the "knight" part of its name as more to do with its similarity to imperial knights than actual rank.

I just checked out the online store (to get some price checks so I could see how much less War Store charged for them )

They have a banner at the top of the page that says "and you thought the Riptide was BIG..." with a picture of the knight next to it. Great marketing strategy there GW...

So since Tau get their super mega robot of doom, and Eldar now get a knight titan, can I use scythed/barbed heirodules for 2/3 point cost now? everyone else seems to be getting apoc units....

The tide and the knight are still not big nor powerful enough to be classed as apoc.

To be fair, it's 3" shorter than a Revenant titan.

In Canada the bloody thing is $140. I don't play eldar, but this is no incentive to start, regardless of how 'cool' it may or may not be.

I don't really see it.

The new models look pretty much the same as the old models.

The Wraith Knight looks a lot like Eldar Titans we've had models from FW of for... could it be years now?

I don't know why they'd look more like Power Rangers now than they did two weeks ago.

And I just don't see that at all.

Also, in regards to the Wraith Knight, I'm not sure that thing would fit in my display case... which is mostly full of models that I don't have room for in my cases, regardless of their paint job quality or status. Pretty sure a lot of models in there are grey plastic or black/white/grey primer.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!
