Not a new business, but one I only just became aware of: Mr. Dandy (James Hakola).

Some very notable resin products, probably the most interesting to the general DakkaDakka populace are the Linked Barricades;

Spoiler:

Plenty of other cool items in the War Gamma line (click image for link).

Some other lines of his (links in the banners);

And one product I find delightful... man I want to use one as a WraithKnight proxy (if only I played Eldar still!);

Spoiler:

So, anyone ever ordered from Mr. Dandy? Experiences etc?

Wow, that not-Tyranid Aegis line is actually not bad!

Though I'd probably try to replace the guns on the Quad to Deathspitters.

I have purchased from war gamma before. He brought out Twolves that looked awesome compared to the thunder squirrel at the time. I also have some of his bases. Good prices and fast Us shipping from my perspective.

Ordered the fungi from him to go along with the Armorcast alien scenery. The products arrived in a timely manner, and were very well cast, hardly any work to clean them up for priming/painting. Mr. Dandy's is somewhere I plan on ordering from again in the future...

Caveat emptor. I ordered at adepticon on 4-19 with. An expected delivery ~3wks. Now approaching 10. My last email. Below on 6-12-2013... At best he is 60+days in the hole. When I get mine i will let you know of quality. He has sent a still behind email every 3wks or so but the difference between a reason and excuse come to mind here. As a consumer I just want my stuff.

Hello and thanks again for your order! Hopefully this will be the last update you will have to read before your order. Unfortunately production was delayed again, but we've been working non-stop to get it going. I felt that the first set of molds were insufficient for these pieces, and so I decided to redesign the molds, the last of which is being completed today.

Normally for a timed release, we'll create a set of 'temporary' molds which are faster to get into production. If demand holds up for the model (which in this case it has) I'll make a set of more complex 'production' molds afterwards as time permits. These involve a set of two-part molds with a fully sculpted parting line. These are much more labor intensive to design, but also produce parts much more quickly once made.

Normally temporary molds work quite well, though the rate of production is a bit slower. Unfortunately in this case, the temporary molds just weren't producing the needed quality of parts, mainly because of severe parting lines.

Finally the good news: with the last production mold being completed tonight, we should be pumping out nice parts by this weekend, and hopefully have orders caught up over the course of next week.

Update #5  for

WarGamma Linked Barricade pre-orders
Hello all!  Sorry for the slow replies to some of your personal emails.  My studio has just recovered from two computer failures within one week, but I'm finally getting caught up.  I'll be following up late tonight and early Monday with those of you who had any specific questions not be answered here.

So it looks like it's time to make another official update, with some good news at the end, but unfortunately not before some more delay.

Basically, my first generation of production molds did not work out as needed.    It was a very difficult decision, but I've decided to set aside these production molds and create new ones. Believe me when I say that nobody is more disappointed than I am at having yet another setback, and at having to write yet another update regarding a delay in production.

For those of you interested in the details, our usual method for producing multi-part kits is to cast them in one large mold.  Because of the number of parts of significant size in the Linked Barricade kit, this resulted in a set of quite large molds.  Unfortunately in this case, the molds proved to be TOO large, and basically all of the molds have a few unique parts that do not fill properly.  That means each large mold would need to be cast 2-3 times to create ONE full set of barricade parts.  I have brainstormed, and personally tested every way I can think of to get better results from these molds, but it simply hasn't worked.
My biggest mistake was spending the time to design ALL of these production molds at once (assuming the design would work) before testing and realizing we needed to switch to a 'Plan B'.

So for the good news, plan B is working extremely well, and should result in some of the best parts I've been able to produce.  It involves smaller molds, with an added step of vacuum.  I am now moving to replace all of the old molds with this new design.

The current expected schedule is to have the NEW molds finalized later this coming week, and first few sets should be shipping out on Monday.  Then the bulk of production and shipping happening during the following week (July 1-7).  I'll be enlisting extra help in the shop to maximize output as well.

Again, I do apologize very sincerely for the extra delays, and I thank you so very much for your extreme patience during the wait.  And again, if you need to change or cancel your order in light of the new delay, please let me know.

Well, they probably should have waited a bit to take orders but at least he's communicating some detailed information which sounds valid. It doesn't seem like standard pr speak, it comes off very honest.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I recieved my Tau Aegis Line last week. I ordered mine the day they became available in April and I told him I had a tournament late June. After his update number 4 I send him several emails about how I was beginning to think it was, frankly, unacceptable about the delay and how I was already charged and how I had waited a few months already. He emailed me back and he fixed the situation by overnighting me a special sculpt.

I am having it painted by a buddy. I'll post a tourney report this weekend with pictures of it but it looks just like the pictures if only slightly larger than the real thing.

TL;DR= I was annoyed at the wait but after communicating with him my frustrations and concerns about my tournament, he fixed the problem and so as of now I fully endorse this whole line and urge those who are waiting to not lose faith.

It sounds like he would have gotten a pass on the delays if he had just called the pre-order a Kickstarter.

At least he was straightforward about what the risks and challenges problems are.

Actually... I thought his stuff was in production (or about to be). I don't do the KS thing. I don't like paying for something and then waiting for delays. So, again Caveat Emptor. I should have waited to buy but they looked cool and the guy is honest.

Having said that, it doesn't solve the problem of the fact I don't have my product in a reasonable time. Update 5? Really. It is now the same Stuff different day. I have friends that do molding and are in the business. It doesn't take 2 months to come to the realizations this gentleman has. He needs to just put in a few 15 hour days and make it happen like the rest of us working stiffs.

My concern is that he doesn't have the working capital to fund the cost overruns with pulling new molds and he is getting new orders to do this. Just a supposition given time delays. I have no knowledge what the real issue is.

And I can't believe my man cincydooley was pimping for him in another thread. Why don't you ask your buddy if he's gotten his stuff yet and whether it is quality.

I'd forgotten you ordered them. I lose track of how much you pick up at adepticon ;-)

Very good stuff. I have a set of the not-Thunderwolves. Not much cleanup at all and very good casting and sculpt quality.
