When I was thinking about getting a RoBB I thought about cutting out the skull pits and replacing them with something like a crater or a pond/pool.
If you are doing a city board, you could always cut through the top layer to remove the skulls, and add in a kind of "undercity" area that you can then just see through the hole?
A room/corridors with pipes, wires, etc?
There is enough room under the board to fit something cool like that in I would think.

I think I could pull off a sewer with pipes and the like but have you ever seen a RoB Board? The bottom is a honey comb of hard plastic! I would take a lot to cut though it. Also I would be really pissed if I messed it up I will be covering the skulls up however , they just look silly
Oh and on a side note I have become a DCM. I figure I use this site so much why not donate to help it continue. Thanks again Whalemusic for your info
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. As always keep um coming!

If you check out terraformers kohrn board he cut it up quite a bit, you may be able to divine some information from there. It would be cool to do a sewer thing, maybe some LED lighting too.

It is not too hard. Drill through the skulls at a number of points around the "split in the earth" (making sure you are far enough away from the edge of the "surface layer" that you do not mess up the edge.
Then pass a saw blade through the drill holes and cut (or if you drilled lots of holes close together, you might be able to use a hoby knife).
The struts on the rear of the board can be done in the same way, or just using a normal saw/blade.
Terraformer does something similar on his board, though I think he uses a dremel, which makes it a lot easier to cut apart.

Silver I am going to need you to fly over to Baltimore and help me out on this one
I have the perfect idea and plan If I am brave enough to do this here is the plan: I will spackle over the skulls with the exception of the one to be cut out. I will make a small box that will be mounted under the cut out area. The box will contain sewer lines , cable and wires , with a red led light to give it a deeper feel. I will also add water effects to the very bottom , combined with an led light to give the feeling sense of flowing water.
Hope I grow a pair and do this I guess at the very least if i it up I can add plastic card to the bottom and spackle over it

I have faith you can pull it off. If it goes horribly wrong, which it wont, you could get the "Table extension" pieces to replace it. But you wont need to. Promise.

No mosaic yet because I still don't have any ink As for the pillars they are moss covered and two have lights on them. The Emperor mosaic will be the in front of the fountain and the aquila mosaic will still be insdie the fountain on both sides. The fountain will have water effects inside and the plaza will be receiving benches that will fill in the emptiness that your feeling/seeing now. http://armorcast.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=121_23&products_id=165
I will take better pics with the next update in better light!
Thanks as always,

Not a fan of the pillars. The fountain should ( IMO) be a feature unto itself. Though if the base it was sitting on were round and you put a kind of domed roof over the whole thing, that might be quite cool Kind of like this but larger and squatter with the fountain in the middle: Edit: there were a lot of replies in the time I wrote this post

I think it gives the illusion of the dome there, while still being usable for play. I was imagining it as basically what you described, but didn't need the dome there to tell me to.

Well here you go Silver, I used my pallet for the dome but you get the idea. Remember it is a Plaza/Park for the center of the city and a huge amount of detail will be lost with a dome. I can always not glue it down though, so here is my question for you Silver if you like the mock up...What should the dome be made out of?
Thanks guys and Whalemusic it is going to be a few days but I will have it in the mail for you soon.

Looks pretty cool. Rather than a dome, perhaps you could just have a ring/square around the top?
It would create a definate boundary and draw the eye, but not conceal anything that is inside, or make it too hard to place models there.
And I am on bookface.

I like it. Though maybe the lights on the outside of the pillar instead? Can you add magnets to the pillar tops and then to the dome? I have no useful ideas on what to make it out of though.
No rush on the pillars, though I am already formulating what to use them for. You think one would be strong enough to hold up a Mailinthrope?
And I am on FB, I'll pm you the link.

Thats not bad, and even makes a bit of sense. Rain would fall into the fountain while people could be protected.
