hmmm not a great impact....tho my last marvel book was at least about 5-10 years back i have to say the art didn“t tempt me... a bit of byrne influence but the actual art is a bit too downtrodden for my taste...i tried to catch as much as i could from the story ...but then it was just a teaser^^
i hope the lost members will get their apeareances later on... also i hope that puck comes back to life... if i recall correctly he died earlier before and came back... in comics no one is dead for long...hopefully...^^

Enjoyed "Flashpoint" #1 very much,a tighter and more engaging story than "Fear: Whateveritscalled" IMO. Zatanna continues to be a fun read and I am finding myself drawn to perhaps picking up Power Girl too..
Batman and Robin is....alright. Solid enough but I miss Morrison's craziness, might drop this perhaps and get Batman Inc. instead. Shame as I do dig Damien as Robin.

I agree entirely.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

That's some pretty lame nerdrage you've dreged up there reds8n. You can find someone on the interent to say anything. Oh look here's some random nerd that likes it: http://cinegeek.com/BOOKS/2007/civil_war.htm
I guess that means its good.

It might well be nerdrage but it is at least well thought and considered nerdrage.
What does your link offer...
Marvel launched the most universe altering series called Civil War.
Course they did, as we can see from the vast impact it's stil having.. err.. oh, wait a minute.
It's almost like they dug themselves into such a corner with the story, that they'd have to effectively erase most of it away, perhaps even magically, if they wanted to continue the status quo which is the main priority after all it seems.
I am especially tickled that the author thinks the Fantastic Four splitting up... for only the 13th or 14th time ! .. was so monumental. Good job that lasted so long and.. oh, all back together by the series end. Ah well.
Still, at least we've got Penance and that giant black guy is still dead. That'll fundamentally alter the underpinning structure of the Marvel Universe.

The fact that subsequent stories have undone what happened in Civil War is a problem with the subsequent stories not civil war itself.
The fact that the more things change the more the stay the same is a major problem with the superhero genre as a whole. When major changes were happening with civil war and dark reign people complained about them changing the status quo (which I find dumb) and now that things are getting back to more normalcy (which is being overexaggereted btw) they complain about that. The main point is that people on the Internet complain.

At any rate, Marvel has never really had the pull that DC had, for me. I honestly don't know why this is, mind...

I actually read both. The only DC comic I had was the Death of Superman trade book. Most of the rest was X-Men. Though that was probably because of the X-Men cartoon. Strangely enough I liked both of the x-men cartoons, and I still do... but nowadays I can't stand any of the x-men comics...

Same, watched x-men cartoon and got comic but don't now. In the 90s X-men ruled the world but now marvel is more about the Avengers. Seriously, everyone is an avenger now.

I like the reconstruction (IE, Post Dark-Age) era that DC is going through mostly, I suppose . A more mature, but not dark set of heroes.
Well, aside from stupidity like Countdown and Frank Miller's most recent trainwrecks.

What's Frank up to these days anyway? The last thing I read from him was All-Star and I think he did the Spirit-movie after that. Haven't heard anything from him.
I think his main problem can be summed up in a single sentence: Frank Miller never left Sin City.
Don't get me wrong, I like Sin City. What I don't like is Batman being a violent, psychotic donkey.

The Dark Age of Comics, you know, the age where everyone was trying to be more like Liefeld. Guns, pouches, moral ambiguity, pouches, huge meat slabs as muscle, pouches, hideously deformed spines for women, pouches, darker settings, pouches, murder, pouches, etc.

Finished the first Deadpool Classics. His introduction was very Liefeld (even featured at least 2 of the worst 40 linked above ), the circle chase was nice, though also filled with 90s cliches. The last story in the TPB is from Joe Kelly, and I really enjoyed that one.

Yup. The entire volume 2 is written by Kelly. Automatically Appended Next Post: While reading (comic) books, I'll try to imagine a certain voice in my head when reading different characters. Nolan North voiced Deadpool in Hulk vs. and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and it really works. Until 'pool takes his mask of and I can't shake the feeling he'd have to sound completly different.
