If that were the justification, NO game should have friendly fire. Douches like the ones you're describing populate every game on every platform in varying degrees. I was just wondering if you can toggle it on when hosting to play a bit more realistic (lol, yes, I went there) game of toy space soldiers. On a related note, can the host boot individual players in either public or private matches?

I would be perfectly happy if FF was off on all public multiplayer games.
The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

And I agree that should be the standard (but not only match type). I actually usually prefer playing FF on in multiplayer games as long as there is some easy system of booting a player permanently who tries to abuse it. I'm just wondering if space marine will be able to scratch that itch in public and/or private matches.

So, what do you guys think of True Grit as assault?
Seems like the 1 handed bolter is just really inaccurate, fine if someone is right in your face, but then why aren't you hitting them with your melee weapon. Might switch it out and try and get decent with the plasma pistol to break the damn Devastator ridiculous armor.
Also, devs that can plant while tanking your axe to the face = annoying. Might need to take that improved interrupt instead of True Grit.
I think Assault might have the deepest skill gap, since it really takes a lot of getting used to to move around really well and make your attacks land; I'm still pretty awful with them, lol.

That's funny, I do better with assault than either of the other classes lol. I do agree, getting up in a dev's face and bashing him over and over to to have him turn around slowly and kill you in 1 second is annoying.

I find myself doing WAYYY better with tactical and dev most of the time, but I think its just because I haven't logged enough playtime with Assault yet.
Some of the combos seem to fire off weird in multiplayer too, like double tap Y (stun) and you get a quick stomp and then a big stomp, no idea why.
Also, the hammer seems way too slow for just about anything to me. I'm way more scared of the axes and chainswords.

Can they do that? Is this the fabled powerfoot stomp I saw in some of the early gameplay vids?

The stomp is thre, but it's not THAT powerful. It's an interrupt attack, all classses have them, but the assault class has the best interrupts.

It does exactly what it implies....interrupts the enemy making them unable to do much of anything for a little while
Is that any different from the stun moves mentioned earlier in the thread?
Stuns in single player last longer than interrupts in multiplayer. Basically, as you build a combo, your attacks get stronger-- the opening attack is the weakest and the last attack is strongest. The interrupt, well, interrupts your combo and knocks you back a step, at which point you can continue attacking but at the start of the combo again.

Assault takes getting used to. I hated it at first out of frustration at having a hard time, and the Tactical marine is pretty natural. I've gotten better over the course of the day though and I'm enjoying the chainsword the most myself.
I actually like Devastators the most. I love the heavy bolter, but I'm not much good with them.
I didn't think that assault was the hardest class to play as, I actually thought tactical was the hardest lol, and yes the heavy bolter is BOSS, though I have heard people whining online that it's OP...

The only thing I'd say is probably OP is the lascannon... because of its rate of fire, now because of how hard it hits. Its damage is fine. It just... it's a mobile sniper cannon that's useful at any range, so yeah, people use and abuse it.

They aren't available in Space Marine. Honestly, I'm unsure how to balance them anyway. Sure they work if the foes are packed but oftentimes I don't find enemy players so close together. The weapon would be too situational I think.
EDIT: I'm hoping for a sequel, maybe we'll see flamers then among other weapons not in Space Marine (the missile launcher, power fists, etc). I actually wonder if Relic has any ideas for the inclusion of Terminators. Despite my whines about balance, the game is pretty well balanced overall. I wonder how they could include the Termis.

Make 'em slow. That's the one thing I never really understood about SM termies. Yea, Meganobz have SnP. But Termies don't? Whut? It's a walking tank, you're bound to have some difficulty. At the least, you wouldn't be able to jump. At most, they'd go half speed, but take half damage from everything.

Meganobz have SnP cause their armor is nowhere near as functional as Termy armor. Termy armor still allows quite a lot of freedom of movement when compared.
Good thing the storm bolter is utter crap.

But it feels so nice to fire... (I prefer a bolter with dragon rounds anyday. Or whatever they're called, I haven't earned them and I keep copying the guy who kills me with them. )

The storm bolter isn't crap, you just have to use it like an SMG.
