There's a new line of spaceship toys coming called Snap Ships.

The idea seems to be toy ships you can reassemble like Legos into new configurations. So lots of scratch building, bits box potential.

Welcome to the future…where humanity is under constant attack from a brutal alien threat. The Komplex spreads through the galaxy and growing stronger with each species they defeat and assimilate. To fight them, humanity relies on an elite team, the Forge, who pilots their own armada of spacecraft known as Snap Ships.

Now YOU can Build to Battle! Snap Ships is a versatile building system for creating multiple crafts with action play, and all sets and pieces are interchangeable, so kids can build however they want. The Snap Ships set for Gladius includes instruction for two builds (ship and attack rover) that you assemble yourself and then engage in battle with real shooting weapon play! Gladius AC-75 Drop Ship is large and heavily armed so that it can clear landing zones and deploy a fast attack rover for ground missions. Gladius is piloted by Commander Dex and the spunky Dee La, two of the Forge’s best pilots. Battle gets really interesting when you add the mysterious UJU tech piece that’s included!

Download the free Snap Ships app for more action play and more ship build ideas! All Snap Ships sets are modular and designed to be combined to build whatever you can imagine!

Well it must be the 21st Century. In the early 80s, Spidey had to make do with this Corgi van, which is 1/48 scale or thereabout if you wanted to throw one into one of the Marvel Games (tenuous attempt to keep on wargaming topic).

Superman had one as well but he also had a dildo looking car with two extending fists on the sides!

I am not putting that into a search engine for a photo.

I love the interior of that Van.

I am pretty sure in the old Captain America movie, Cap was some peacenik hippie artist cruising around the US in his awesome van.

Ahhh...... wargaming..... and stuff.......

Both the Spiderman and Superman ones had the printed HQ/ Chill Out Room/ Love Palace interiors.

Maybe a Spider Surf Board Roof Rack was a planned addition that never came to fruition!

OMG I just noticed the logo, it's literally Spider Man with the vertical lines in the M erased to make Spider 'V'an. That's both awesome and incredibly lazy. Yet it works.

I'm happy to add Peter Parker's awesome airbrushed van with a waterbed to my head canon.

And in other news...

Those artillery pieces look pretty good, might get some of those. On topic, I'm a big proponent of using legos for builds, individual pieces are easy to come by on places like brick link and are just a few cents per piece mostly. Here's one example I cam up with by digging throw my old lego toy box and my spare bits box. I think legos have a lot of untapped potential when it comes to use for conversions or scenery.

Games Workshop: Ruining Chaos Space Marines since 2007

First they raised prices on the Eldar, and I did not speak out because I did not play Eldar.

Then, they raised prices on the Orks, and I did not speak out because I did not play Orks.

Then, they raised prices on the Nids, and I did not speak out because I did not play Nids.

Then, they raised prices on the Marines, and there was nobody to speak out for me.

I hope the GI Joe retro collection sees more vehicles and options - I've been trying to rebuild my old Joe collection and need an affordable Rattler

(BTW, those three figures appear to be from the Rise of Cobra movie - I've got that Baroness figure.

And thanks for posting the toy soldiers/tanks too - that lead me to discover reproductions of an old Marx WW2 playset I had when I was like 8 years old, and will now be in my grasp on Friday!!! Tabletop gaming the old fashion way - with marbles, bang-bang noises and finger-tossing booms!

I imagine the GI Joe reissues is driven by what molds are available and in good shape. They get the cost savings AND get to sell nostalgia to fans who are now parents themselves (or still kids at heart).

While the HISS is cool and iconic the AWE Striker, not so much. Certainly not when compared to the VAMP.

They did the limited Decepticon Sky Striker a while back so maybe that mold is still usable. Can't remember the last time they reissued the Rattler though.

I'm seriously considering getting some of those Snap Ships. I don't even see much use for them in any wargaming I do, they're just way too cool! I might get some and see what kind of crazy spaceships I can come up with, reawaken the 10-year-old inside me. Might even find some inspiration for the sci-fi novel I've been wanting to write for years.

I bought the interceptor for my son. Its an interesting idea. The body is built out of these cube-blocks and they you just add all the spaceship bits on. He enjoys it a lot since it can get 'battle-damaged'

I actually picked up a couple of the Snap Ships earlier today (they are now available at Target in the US at least). I put them together, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed! They must be popular too, as there weren't very many left on the shelf when I bought them. Younger me would have been blown away to have something like this, especially if I had a bunch of them to combine into one huge mega-ship or something. However, I'm not sure they really have any wargaming uses except maybe as an objective (like, defend the dropship or something).

Can you post a picture of them next to some minis, I still don't know how they look alongside 28mm figures.

I'll see if I can get a pic. They are at about 1/100 scale, which makes them just slightly smaller than the existing GW kits. The interceptor is about six and half inches long, compared to my Dark Talon, that come in around eight inches. The cockipts are noticably smaller - you won't be sticking a mini in an open cockpit.

I bought a scythe for myself so I can use the wheels on my next MegaTrakk Skrappjet.
