Dunno, it looks a lot less horrible than the old colourless outlines ones. Suddenly I feel less bad about sharing my bed with hundred of thousands of those.

Whenever I see images like these (particularly the middle one), I can't help but get the feeling that some artist is fething with us, and science is in on the prank.

I see no connection.

Sociology is an established science. Science attempts to improve out understanding of the world, as sociology does. Just because it is viewed as more speculative(Which it is not, it uses could hard facts and statistics) in many peoples minds does not mean it isnt a science

I think this thread is mostly about how the physical sciences are awesome.

I think we can all agree that at least it's not political science.

Political science removes the "statistics" bit from "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" and replaces it with "fairy tales"

I always think the word 'science' isn't sufficient for what it actually is, which is the drive within human beings to understand the world around and us and our place within it.

They need to make a new word, which is at least 5 consonants long, and should always be written in bold and capital letters by law.

Perhaps they should change the job title from "scientist" to "Time Lord" a lot more people would go into real scientific fields

By its most general definition, science is a body of knowledge. In this manner all the things called 'science' are sciences (including political science). More narrowly its defined to refer strictly to mathematics, physics, etc. The various academic fields just like to throw insults at each other over who the 'superior' science is. Mostly I think it's done in jest save a few crazies

Most sciences follow a sort of scientific methodology with varying degrees of looseness. History uses the scientific method but breaks from it in that it can't empirically reach a conclusion but rather 'connects' the dots between the white spaces where data isn't present using educated guesses and assumptions. Because of this it and similar fields get called 'not real' sciences.

Mathematics isn't a science, it's a tool often used by scientists.

Those who say pure mathematics is a valid science are clearly communists.

Depending on definition, mathematics is the purest science, involving the least amount of guess work of them all

Pure mathematics, by definition, has no tangible effects. It's the opposite end of the "not a science" scale from sociology and political science.
