The most dangerous thing I could ever think of using is this:

Emperor Titan: 4000 points
Vortex support missile
5 laser blasters
Vengeance Cannon
Hellstorm cannon

15, 5'' blast marker destroyer shots
4, 7'' blast marker destroyer shots
1, 10'' blast that destroys any non super heavy and terrain it touches (and does D3 structure points of damage to a super heavy)
8 strength 9 ap 3 7'' blast markers

Plus it has 8 void shields and 12 structure points (yes that comes to 36 hull points!!!) and AV 14 front and sides.
Oh and if you do ever kill it the explosion is BIG. All models within 8D6 take a destroyer hit.

For me this is my favorite unit...

Farsight 165pts
O'Vesa 305pts

Enclave Commander w/ Fusion Blade, Talisman, Warscaper drone, drone controller, and 2x gun drones 212pts

XV8 team #1 256pts
Shas'Vre w/ 2x Plasma Guns and target lock
Shas'ui w/ 2x fusion guns and target lock
Shas'ui w/ plasma gun, fusion gun, and target lock
6x gun drones 62pts

Standard Tau Commander w/ MSS, C&C Node, Puretide Chip, Onegar Gauntlet, and 2 gun drones 164 pts

For Apocalypse I would probably add the rest of Farsight's bodyguard in and swap the support commander for Shadow sun to get the mob shrouding.

Valace... that whole thing wouldn't even distract the Emperor titan for a single turn.

In any case, the most dangerous unit in Apocalypse would be whatever you wanted to put together.

I'd probably say... the Ordinatus Mars. It's a nova cannon on a tracked carrier.

Nova Cannon.
Range: 20 feet Strength: D AP: 1 Heavy 1, 24" blast, Destroyer 2D6*

*Any model hit by the Nova Cannon immediately takes 2d6 Destroyer hits.

That's painful! 24" blast is obscene! To be fair so is the 2d6 destroyer

blah blah blah, so i deepstrike within its void shield an then go to work with a dozen fusion guns, half of its weapons could't even target it because of range. A squad of TH/SS terminators would mess this titan up. Also remember that with the damage for super heavies being the same as for non, you can stun an Imperator titan, and each weapon will have to roll a saving throw to see if it can fire, and if those spiffy blast weapons fail their saves they can't fire because you can't snapshoot a blast weapon.

wait till Forge World gets the Horus Heresy wrapped up and we see rule sets for Horus at his peak or the Emperor.

Once you get within 5 or so inches of an imperator it's basically useless but it's far more dangerous in an apocalypse game than that Tau unit.

All super-heavies are automatically immune to Vehicle Damage table results, so you can never shake or stun a Titan of any kind.

The most dangerous unit(s) in apoc games are the non-forge world ones. That's how you win. Titans and gak kill stuff, but don't win games on their own.

Im not sure about in the new apoc book, but I dont think titans can hit flyers at normal BS (and def not with template weps) and the manta has heavy railguns which could down and emperor.

Two STR D shots at BS 4 and a bunch of seeker missiles, ion cannons, and burst cannons. And an entire army in the transport compartment. So it kills any titan effortlessly (though it takes a while) since its D-weapons can hurt the titan while the titan can't even attempt to shoot back. Obviously the titan is better at wiping whole non-flyer armies off the table though.

That I can use right now? The Mantycore. D3 S10 AP 4 Blasts makes for a very sad Eldar/Tau army. At least if I get first turn. :(

That I can ever use? I'm considering scratch building a Emperor Titan one day but that's like 5 years off from now. I just don't have the modeling skills for it. More realistically.. a Warhound Titan. Them things is deadly, yo.

Why can't the Titan shoot back?

Because blast weapons can't hit flyers, and no titans have weapons that roll to hit on their BS.

(And no, the mega bolter doesn't count because no sane player ever puts one on a titan.)

Well nobody who wants their Titan to function...

Although in a pre heresy environment 6 vulcans could be pretty good. Not as good as their alternatives admittedly but nothing's as good as a Hellstorm or vengeance cannon...

Il stick to my 2x 10man TH/SS terminators....

Because thats the only thing I have which can do any actual damage to super heavies. Stormeagle, LR Achilles and Tyberos are just eye candy....

Although, would an airwing of 5 flyers (eagle, 2x ravens, 2x talons) be enough of an annoyance to other apoc units?
