I've been building this army for a couple of years as a counts as warriors of chaos army. Now that it's reached 2000 points I thought I'd pop up some shots.

I'm guessing the guy on the big base is a DP, smaller based character is a Sorcerer, the Hounds and Hounds, the big block is Chaos Warriors, the Zombies and Mauraders, the worm things are Jugger riders/Dragon Ogres and the Tentacle worm thing is either a Mutalisk, Chariot or Spawn (can't work out which).

@Grimtuff - Bang on, though the half-dead (bog mummies) are chosen, though at the moment they are moonlighting as forsaken until I get my warped fimir unit done. The tentacle guy is a chariot, though I also use him as a hellcannon. I have a larger base he magnetises into, complete with maggoty 'crew'.

Out of interest (and as an Irish history nerd) what does the Ogham spell out on the cyclops' stone?

Thanks Bores. It's spells Morfran, the name of the meargh whose spirit inhabits the stone, and controls the unfortunate, mindless Avagdu who carries it.

At the moment I'm still very much in the process of tidying up some loose ends with the fimir before I launch into any new units. One of the things I wanted to do was to make a small base extender for my meargh so she could be mounted on a 40x40mm base or a 50x50mm depending on how I was going to field her. Just a wee base add-on I said to myself. Texture the edge to match her 40x40mm base, paint it up, and done.

This is what I ended up with.



As you can see, the idea expanded a bit. Still some water effects to go on, but other than that, done. When I was digging through my bits box looking for interesting little bits for it, I thought hey, why don't I make it into more of a floating slab of rock magically torn from the bog. Then I could use it to give the meargh some height when she's pretending to be a daemon prince, or I could even magnetise the top so I could put other fimir characters there if I needed a disk rider. So that's the way it went.





I was looking at it last night thinking while it's pretty versatile, does the base sitting on the stone look a bit weird? I've looked at it so much now I can't tell anymore. The other thing is the magnetic steel holds the magnetised base down well, but it's not going to take a major jostle. I have visions of my meargh taking an undignified tumble mid-game.

One thing I am thinking of is to just add a permanent rider to the plinth. A dirach, possibly. Then I could add some paraphernalia to the rock, a familiar, spell book or some other bits. The familiar would be especially appropriate for a dirach. Here's the model I'd be thinking of using, from Oakbound games. He'd need a little conversion, some horns and perhaps a weapon, but other than that he's pretty much bang on. His pose would work well as a rider.



I'd then work up the original base extender for the meargh, and lo, I'd have the meargh and a new mounted character.

Or, maybe I'm just making work for myself.

Warhounds: Warhounds
Half-Dead: Forsaken (they are technically meant to represent chosen, but they will have to stand as forsaken until I get my warped fimir done.
Avagdu (the guy with the stone): lvl 2 wizard
Marlwyrm riders: Skullcrushers

The list is pretty soft, I'll dig it out and pop it up.

@Rohansolikder: the fimir were a race the Games Workshop created and were dropped after 3rd edition, though they have made something of a comeback in the last couple of years with an appearance in Storm of Magic and then in Monstrous Arcanum. They were loosely based on the fomorians of Celtic mythology. You can see more here:

Wow, very nice, I like the savage orc conversions. Did you sculpt the heads yourself?

The heads are based on Jes Goodwin's original, which is a fantastic model. I used that as a template and created the other three variants, and had them cast in resin.

After something of a break, the fimir train is leaving the station. The first one-eyed marsh fiend of the new year is a character, the aged dirach Grunsgul.



The model is from Oakbound Games, with some small conversion work. I added horns, as befits a dirach, and also a torc on his arm and a tathlum (concrete balls on a chain) hanging from his belt.



On the plinth itself I added some more bits and pieces. A jawbone, book of spells and scroll, as well as the little familiar. Dirach are also known as daemonfriends, and have a particular daemon they forge a close alliance with. In this case the diminutive scroll carrier.

One of the most smashing armies I've seen in a long while, absolutely chock full of character and as a recently new player to the Warhammer universe it's nice to see some of the older models too.

I'd county myself lucky to be able to play against an army like this!
