Cool idea with that head and his tentacle crown, really fitting. Any idea on the painting scheme for it ?

The paint scheme will more or less follow the same themes that the rest of my army follows. Fur brown base coat by army painter and then the central recessed area where the head is will be bleached bone. I plan on adding some mud and dust to the feet and a banner hanging from between his shoulders.

Finished magnatizing the shoulder so I can swap weapons out on my dread. Added the banner and attached the weapon mounts. Besides maybe adding a few random heads and other trophies, and maybe grinding don the sharp edges on the shoulder I am. Allying this conversion done.

So due to an influx of precipitation, I won't be doing any painting of minis any time soon. So I started work on a revamp of a project from years past. Warpsmith. Due to the prevelance of armor in my army list design, I figure this bad boy will see some serious table top action. Plus he's super cheap for what he does.

Also, the GW model, while amazing is also amazingly expensive. I think this conversion, when finished will more than fit the bill.

Quickie update.

I figured I needed to add some Chaos bits. Where else but horns.

Help please. Should I mount my warp smith in the center of his ride as pictured above or shall I move him more to the front of the mount the way he is pictured below. Not sure if I like the centaur style.

Once decided I will attach his backpack and mechadendrites once the GS rollers come from green stuff industries.

I am voting for central mount, like on the cataphron. This is not only because I prefer the look of it, but also because I think it would be more stable fluff wise, placing a half astartes in armour on such a small chassis.

I have been playing with it both ways and I'm not sure which way I'm going to go. Gotta figure this out though so I can field this bad boy.

Coming along nicely. WIP shots. Things always look so much better when you prime over all the green stuff.

I started off with fur brown primer from Mary painter, followed by dry brushing betial brown and tallarn sand. washes of army painter strong tone followed by Devlan mud. I find devlan mud to be a bit gloopier and provides not such even coverage as army painter does. Next up. More tallarn sand dry brushing and some work on the details like the banner and the face. Overall I'm pretty happy.

Also, this is pretty much the only stock base I have in my collection.

love the conversion on the hell brute. The green stuff tentacles add a nice touch.

Dread looks great. Agreed, the first coat of uniforming primer does a lot to bring a kitbash or conversion together at last!

Re. the Warp Smith, I'd vote for mounting it centered on the chasis, thinking it'd look more balanced that way?

Hey all.

Been working to bring my newest iteration for my army in line. Painted as far as base coat so they eat least table ready. I hate playing partially painted stuff. This second land raider is coming along nicely. So far it is just base coated and washed. It needs a whole lot of drybrusing and a second wash before I will feel that it is ready to weather up.

I'm really happy with how some of the little details turned out. The corrosion around the doors and along the edges of the corners next to the forward HB cupola turned out really well. One thing I just realized that it is lacking is a banner. Almost all of my tanks have a banner of some kind. Maybe this one will be unique due to its. Lack of banner. Who knows. I can always addd one later.

I am also not happy with how Deighton and fresh the brass looks. I'm going to have to paint over that and start over with some deep drown and dry brush it up.

@ Littletower - thanks for the advice on the warp smith. I reckon that I will go with dakka feedback on this one. The warpsmith will provide essential support for my heavily mechanized force. Also, appreciate the props on the dread. I just finished adding some more paint, I will post some more WIP photos.

@ Cormadepanda- thank you. Those tentacles need some work. Right now they are just washed with flesh shade. I need to get tin there and do some highlighting. Overall I am pretty happy though. I also started,to covert the dark vengeance Hellbrute to add another Twin las ML dread to the crew.

Working to bring out the rusted flesh and bone look. Spent an hour or so last night and a hour or so today washing and dry brushing the hulk of this model. There are always a few spots where the whole paint scheme, green stuff and corrosion all seem to come together to make a model really pop. For me it's the right rear panel. I love how the colors are blending together. I haven't started on the door and will most likely have to paint over the plague censors that are set in the door panel. They are way to bright. Totally fixable though.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the base effect. Can't wait to get some mud and dirt on the treads.

Been finishing up my landraider. I did up the brass on the lascannons and redid the brass on the doors. The plague censors were to bright so I totally redid them. I added the dripping corrosion with Nihilakh Oxide. First time I've used that on my DG. I was thinking it might be fun to have the blue dripping down over the white of the door but I'm holding out for now. Any thoughts?

Still have to do the weathering around the treads and add some rust effect here and there. Overall. I'm pretty happy.

Calling it done. Finished this project AND got my green stuff industries tentacle maker today. My birthday. So here it is. Still needs some work but I'm satisfied for now. And... only 1 day till my codex comes out. Here's hoping for some good stuff.

Pretty happy with the weathering I accomplished. Maybe a bit heavy on the dust here and there and up high on the treads etc and on the skirts but otherwise very pleased.

Beautiful tank, definitely rusty and ancient ! Will you reproduce this color scheme on the hellbrute ?

Thank you KernalTerror. Yes, more or less I will reproduce this. The only difference being the lack of the bone color. I'm trying to make them all match. Since my first dread is all brown this knee most likely will be!

Working on too many projects right now. Just trying to get my Deathguard up to snuff when the new dex launches.

This is my third dread that I am adding to the group. Having two with interchangeable weapon options means that this one having its weapons "installed" permanently isn't going to screw me up down the road when it comes to army building. I'm using the tentacle maker from green stuff industries to do the cables in the missile launcher. That will be covered by a cowell of metal plate. I am going to go over the whole model and add appropriate corrosion and hopefully have the whole list up and running by Saturday.

Working on finishing up this warp smith to complete my list. I figure I can always Allie a heretic contingent in with my deathguard so I will have access to the warpsmith, obliterators, vindicator etc. the tentacle maker is doing its job creating mechadendrites. His cloak of mechadendrites is coming along well, though his third arm is kinda hidden by the plethora of other details.

More or less finished the conversion work on my warpsmith. He is significantly taller and bulkier than I thought he would be. Especially spending next to my deathguard. His mechadendrites cloak I am pretty happy with.

Done. Now I just have to paint it.

War smiths are such a good deal in this edition and I think as an Allie he will pair well with deathguard.

Got my warpsmith all painted up. He is in traditional dark mechanics shades of red and black. On the whole I am really happy with how he turned out. I made the base out of bits from a Ork warbike and some bits from a bike itself. The third left arm still vanishes a little bit into the model but like I said I really like how this turned out overall.

Thank you KernalTerror. I wanted to make a warp smith that felt like a member of the mechanicum. They are after all the same branch originally. The flesh is weak so why not replace legs with treads.

Going to start working in my pox walkers once I finish painting up necrosius.

Been working on Necrosius the Undying. Had this mini for years. Tell you what. The tiny nurglings are a real pain to paint.

Also, started using a wet pallet and am going to sponge wethaer the armor. Maybe.

The first of sixty plus pox walkers.

I played a game with these over the weeekend and found that squads grow really fast. I used the dead walk strategem and screened the pox walkers with 40 cultists. Had 60'pox walkers in one turn. The way that adding pox walkers works is rather abstract so I was using them to creat chains that moved the unit across the board quite fast. When you have 20 25mm base troops to add to a unit that's a 60" line you can add to the unit if you so desire. Seems like they will need to amend that rule to state that they must be placed within 7" of the existing squad or some such.
