Thanks little tower, Januine!. I have been working super hard today trying to,push out as much as I can today befor work tomorrow.

I hope to have the Land raider done with GS today and have done tons of work on the Titan. It's got to be done in the next two weeks. Groan.

So, as i said i am planning on trying to finish up all sorts of stuff today.
Made progress on my Khorne Lord on Juggernaut. He has a Shield which gives him a 4++ save, and he is using Goredrinker. Str 10 instant death and a blizzard of attacks on the charge is hard to deal with for anyone. Joined to a unit of spawn he is pretty hard to ace before he hits the enemy line as well. I have been working on a technique for cloaks to have them more flowing in the wind. I did this one in two parts. The base bit i sculpt onto the mini to support the second flowing bit of cape. I added the skulls later because, as we know Khorne loves skulls and i would hate to disappoint the god himself.

Slow going but I have reached the point where I have only about nine major plates that need to be corroded by nurgles touch. This project can be super stressful since I don't want to put to much strain on any One joint while I am smoothing the green stuff. It has gotten really chilly here so I have to sit in front of the fire while I work to soften the putty as much as possible. Not sure this will be done in time for my next apoc battle but it should be close enough that playing it will still be possible.

Hope your enjoying he thread. Comments and questions are appreciated.

Thank you for the positive feedback. After two weeks of GS work I am getting somewhat burned out on two part epoxy.

@EDC - thank you for he props. I have no idea if I will mess with the weapons at all. I always figured that when they start growing fleshy, the warp smiths would sit down and do what they could to treat them so that they would not loose their integrity. Weapons like this are a bit to precious to have blow up due to some chaotic infection.

@Januine - just buy one. Think how awesome it would look at the head of your force.

Played a big game yesterday against 3000 pts of ultramarines. The Nurgle forces faced a Demi company, 15 terminators and a librarian conclave. The forces of Nurgle featured a highlander force of varied CSM. Highlights of the match inclueded a defiler one shot killing all three librarians. 385 pts killed on one shot including a terminator librarian who failed his 2+, tigurius who failed two 4++ in a row, and a regular libi who failed his 5+ cover save. Other highlights included a landraider with three obliterators and typhus charging 3 centurions, a command squad with a captain and terminator chaplain, and about 15 tac marines. My forces of chaos lost but they did some serious damage.

What did I learn from the match. I learned that daemon princes generally suck when facing units of 3 venerable dreads. Defilers rock, and heldrakes with hates auto cannon can be pretty good. My heldrake killed all three venerables, two rhinos and scored on several objectives by going into hover mode. What an awesome vehicle.

Even after losing the 360 on it's weapon the heldrake is still a fearsome beasty and not to under estimated. Sounds like you had a blast.

No picks sadly EDC. It was also the last game I have played. It's been too long. On a side note with respect to the heldrake. It had the Auto cannon, not the bale flamer. It did a lot of work for me in this list.

Thanks for popping by war boss Waazag. The exhausts are like that on almost all of my Nurgle stuff. I figure that the toxic spew that was pouring out from the possessed engine would eventually start to grow into spoor towers (fruiting bodies if you are biologically inclined). Thanks for the props.

I spent much of yesterday evening getting going on the base for this bad boy. I was unable to find a beveled 10" birch base so I had to settle for this clock makers 10" round. It was much thicker than I had originally desired to use but I had to settle. I don't like the way that many bases turn out totally level so I spent last evening dremmmeling wildly to carve some trenches into the surface of the base. When I was dime I was liberally coated in a fine layer of sawdust.

Next step was to apply craters and texture to the surface using drywall paste. I am worried about its durability but today, after drying for 12 hours it seems like it is going to hold up. Next steps? I plan on using a mixture of brown latex paint and sand with lots off added bitz to build up the base. I have a ton of leftover marine parts that are going to be mixed into the morass that the Titan is going to be striding through. Last thing I plan on adding will be the Army Painter Razor wire I plan on festooning his feet with and some water effects for the craters so that the base has the necessary Morass feel.

So it's been a long time since I posted here. Lots going on in life. I spent two months driving across the country to the east coast and for the last six months I have been living in Florida working on something very Nurglie. Flesh eating flies. I'm a biologist you see. So down here I was unable to bring any 40k and no-one here even knows what 40k is so chances of getting a game on are slim to none. The few games I have had in the last year have ranged from fun to enraging. I played a handful of games with KDK that were super fun. Also played a couple games including a huge one against space wolves. I have to say that my dislike for space wolves only increased. Wolfen at the time were super broke and any-one who takes more than one squad is .... well.... not wanting for all members of their gaming group to have a good time.

I lost a lot of my affection for 40k towards the end of 7th ed. Formations suck. GW seemed to only hate chaos and seemed to be doing everything they could to unbalance the game. I still feel like games workshop only milked the traitor legions along and then to have the much awaited and anticipated update invalidated was infuriating. Especially after they released the crap upon crap of Black legion and codex crimson laughter. Basically between that, gw's lack of support for Chaos, lame power gamers and the state of 7th ed I was pretty much over the hobby. Stopped listening to podcasts, stopped checking out the news, basically turned off.

Now with 8th ed having dropped I have been lurking around again. I like the nnwer sleeker rules set though I have yet to play. I also like the return of melee. About time. Giving that at least 2 of the armies depend on it for their bread and butter, this seems like it should have happened a long time ago. I also like the fact that formations of brokenness are gone. I have heard that GW will be actively rebalancing the game as they go, though I have seen no active indications of this. We can only hope. The new death guard minis are very enticing and I can only hope that the codex when it drops actually includes units that have been DG staples for many years. Looking at the vindicator here. While it was nice to have a unique army and I will now be lost in a sea of recent converts, papa Nurgle welcomes all newcomers with open arms.

So,with great caution I am returning to the hobby. I bought my first minis in over a year and have been pouring over the rules and the index Chaos. I really hope that two things don't happen. 1- that all the GW marine miniatures get scaled up in size. 2 - that balance is indeed brought to the game. That is all.

Thank you for reading and in one week when my work here is done and I have returned home, I will be posting a new update hopefully with lots of new gifts from papa Nurgle.

I've been in a similar situation to yourself. left the hobby for a long time, didn't build or even paint which was my main love since my community had no real gaming groups at all. Now though after visiting back home I discovered a store that actively promotes tournaments and fun games and was a great distraction when i went to visit.

I picked up the new dark Imperium set and honestly I love the nurgle models which is odd since I've been a SM fan girl my whole hobby life.

I will say that the new models are amazing (the scaling is about the same for the Nurgle marines they just have a lot more on them to make them look beefier) and if you're anything like I am when it comes to building, I have a fair number of nifty conversions already done on my blog that I started up once more. Simple stuff to make the Pox-walkers look more unique (and then I kept finding more awesome ideas online after base-coating them all :( ) and I'm now slowly working my way through the plague marines.

Good luck~

Just spent an hour or so working to "tidy" up this rhino. First real work I have done in ages. I have had a lot of my ar,y painted up to be table top but not completed so I am working to get them all to the same level. It's mostly my tanks that are in partly painted states of disrepair. I had only partially painted the trophy racks. At least now I can start going in to work on shading them. The blood angel helm needs some serious work. I still need to add all the little details like soot around the smoke stacks, pick out the fleshy bits with some dwarf flesh and the model will need a comprehensive dirtying up with stirland mud and weathering powders. Overall I'm pretty happy though.

The second rhino I comprehensively dirtied up. I think it's done. For real. I finished something.

I played my first game of 8th ed. Really liked it. I feel like the terrain rules are a bit too simplified. Perhaps cover should be done the way that they did it in forth edition with levels and blocking LOS. I also feel like a -1 to to hit rolls on obscured targets would be great for giving some units a bump. Even the option to go to ground for a -1 to hit would be pretty awesome. Other than gripes about the terrain I feel that they nailed it. I even had fun playing against an eldar player.

@Marine_With_Heart ~ thanks for stopping in. I can appreciate the necessity of finding a good stor to game at. I have two now within about 30 min drive from me. Hope to be getting games in on a regular basis. I did pick up some pox walkers so. I will be sure to check out your conversions. Glad to hear that papa Nurgle has made his way into your heart, though your immune system may feel differently.

Been working on my plague hulk. I finished the green stuff a while ago. Then it sat in my stuff for the last year. Mostly because I had no one to play with

So I am working to just get the rest of my armynfis I shed and painted befor i go and buy a bunch of new stuff. With the release of mortarion this may prove to be really difficult. I don't really want to buy a whole bunch of new stuff. Especially with GW making models progressively larger and larger. It makes me wonder if they are going g to eventually do away with the smaller stature marines and go to an entire, ymlarger marine base. Either way. I finally am finishing this bad boy. Questions and comments appreciated.

Been finishing up my work on the soul grinders/plague hulks.

I like how some elements turned out. The veins and bruising in the base of the torso are realistic enough and the rust effect on the sword which I did using Mig pigments I especially like. The armored bits still need a bit of work but I'm pretty happy that it is at least table ready after three years or more. I do need to burnish up the bronze of the armor on its chest and head some. Not sure the best route to take there. The blue corrosion effect is I think a bit too bright and I really don't want to overly brighten th model.

This bugger will definitely fit well in my up and coming epidemious list that I am working on. Primarily I need as many shooting units that are Nurgle daemons as possible. That way I can hopefully target and destroy enough infantry units to be able to achieve some sort of early benefit from the tally mans tally.

Q&C are appreciated as always.

Thanks Littletower.
I made my way back via 8th ed. I gotta say that I am really enjoying it. Specially now that we have a codex that came out. I am looking forward to the death guard when those finally come out, but I'm hoping th rules still allow me to field some of my old units. Vindicators, etc.

Been enjoying getting back to this.

Last couple of days I have been spending making more weapon conversions for my deathguard dreads and defilers. I made these 3 twin heavy bolsters out of leftover bits from predator hb sponsons. The missile launcher will double as the havok launcher it was made out of and the twin lascannons are similarly made out of loyalist godhammers from the landraider kit. I'm trying to make the best use of the command points that allow you to double fire a dread at the nearest target, and also allow you to reroll to hit and to wound with a daemon engine. My current list has two defilers and two dreads in it plus some allied berserkers in a rhino to help thin down hordes. Q&c welcome.

Finally ready to apply some paint. I've had this model for five years and due to my lack of motivation, time etc it has just sat on my workbench. I wa ps not inspired at all to continue work in it especially given how crappy rules were for landraiders. Now the rules are pretty good and due to my desire to not get shot off the table, the toughness and firepower of these has motivated me to finish painting this. I magnetize the top so I can throw a havok launcher on there. Good to go.

Progress made. In the past I have always just base coated and primes in one step using Armco painter. Since I bought this pre primed it came with a black primer coat I could not strip no matter what I tried. Now, with the fur brown coat laid over the black primer, it actually provided some shading and deapth to the model. Busy now with blocking in the base colors prior to shading. For an hours work I have to say I'm pretty pleased. I'm building up the bone shades using Karnak Stone. I'm going to go over that with army painter skeleton bone. Blocking in the green and bolt gun will finish the model prior to its first wash.

Getting back into my deathguard, I feel like selling off my Daemonkin.

Q&C appreciated.

Been working on weathering up all my deathguard tanks. I figure slogging across the morass of mud and bodies mixed with prutrefaction is not going to to lend to having sparkly polished vehicles the same way that vamprism is not going to lend itself to sparkly vampires. I have been using a mix of laminan medium and secret weapon miniatures powders for most of the dust and dried on crud. The strait up wet mud is Striland mud from GW. I know that there are cheaper ways to do it but I bought the stirland mud to test it out and figure I should be using it. These two models are a landraider and a predator that I finished previously. Hope y'all are enjoying. Questions and comments appreciated.

Thank you. I love modeling and deathguard supply so many avenues for this sort of stuff. They don't necessarily play the way that I would like since I like fast moving forc s which is why I was playing Khorne daemonkin but I always loved the rotten look of the deathguard. Weathering the tanks up has been super fun if a little nerve wracking to engage in. Splattering all manner of crud all over that hard work.

Worked some this morning on my second deathguard dread. This bad boy will at some time likely feature the twin heavy Bolger seen pictured here. They are rediculously cheap and effective against enemy infantry and armor. I like the thought that I can return fire on a six whenever the dread takes damage as well. BTW. This is not a Hellbrute. It's a dread. Forever.

Been working on finishing up this dread for an upcoming army list that I would like to play. This dread has been in my possession for at least five years. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out overall though the emergent face of the pilot is not quite how I pictured it. I've been trying to incorporate that bit into a model forever. It is done.

As far as work on the model as a whole goes, I need to do a bit more grinding on the left side of the torso to add corrosion and weathering to the armor. Today I also need to secure a brass rod to mount a large Nurgle fly to the top of he torso as a pennant. Work continues on the twin las Cannon and the missile launchers which I will be affixing to this beast. I almost feel that dreads are better in their snooty conformation right now. They sure are cheap as dirt.

I have also pretty much decided that I will be solely embracing the modeling of deathguard over other factions. My DG army is my most prolific and well developed and with the new dex coming out next month I feel that having more options is better by far than having less.
