yeah,
All my current playable armies are either Green and/or Purple.
Green and Purple CSM, Purple and Green DE, Green and Yellow Grots and Green and Green Necrons
I can change this!
I bought this army a year ago from a friend cutting down on Hobby!
The plan is.
Quickly reassemble the broken and unbuilt models.
Convert the old metal raveners so they match the rules - two sets of talons.
Remove the biomorphs my friend had stuck down.
Find a quick paint scheme.
Panic...

Yeah,
Still deciding, I'm thinking flesh coloured soft bits and bone armour.
I've bought sprays... But I'm still wavering on this.
Might change to red armour like standard hive fleet kraken.

I was thinking red fleshy bits with bone armour as an inverted Kraken scheme might work. I think it would need to be quite a dark red though.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

yeah, I decided that flesh will be fleshy peach. I didn't try to hit the armour areas with the Bone spray, I've been thinking about changing to grey armour and making the weapons blue or black (or green). Getting ready! And sprayed. I was a bit heavy on some models with the spray.. but it's done now.. Not stripping those down.. Some details will just have to be soft :( The six raveners and four warriors not in the photo are waiting for their deathspitters before they get sprayed... Panic...

Yeah,
Green and purple 'nids sounds amazing!
I've been painting red... So bored of red.
Everyone's been inked now, I've gone through two pots of red wash.
The sad news is I think they need a second coat. :(
I think from here on, for the sake of my sanity, I will be painting these guys in squads!

Yeah,
Deathspitters and genestealer arms arrived.
Huzzah.
Ok so here's the problem with the old metal raveners.
all 6 have the same mono pose Tail section with small talons.
A little bending plus the genestealer arms will add variety to pose.
They've all been dremmeled next up assembly.
Test fit works for me.

Looking good. I really like those Ravenor heads. I really wish they'd stuck with that look and given the warriors them too.
Deathspitters on the arms look better than the thorax mounted ones on the current kit.

Yeah, I bought death storm to get the new broodlord and so again hive fleet peachy is getting some time on the painting table. The plan is to get their first games in January, playing through the 'Shield of Baal' missions. Final base colours going on. The plan is to use army painter and dip the entire model? I've selected the Army Painter Quick Shade Soft Tone as my colours are quite light. I'll be using the spin with a drill technique to have a minimal even layer of shade. Unfortunately this projects no green or purple rule looks like it will fail!! Green has sneeked into the paint scheme as a test for the gun symbiotes? and IMO looks quite good. What do you think green guns? Panic...

Green Guns! With slight differentiation on the secondary gun colour to help other people see which weapons are which.
I'd suggest purple. It contrasts well with green.

Hi Panic, this is a nice blog!
It's funny because I've just primed a load of Termagants and Hormagaunts with Skeleton Bone, and am just about ready to start applying base colours. I too have decided to use Soft Tone as the shade. I think I'd like to try a yellow for the carapace colour, rather than the usual red.
I will be following this with great interest! Question: how do you go about the drill spinning technique? When I dipped my Undead, I used adjustable pliers and shook the excess off. However, those Mantic bases are very strong, and easy to get a good grip on. (I did get some pooling on their shields, unfortunately, but it added slightly to the look.)
Cosmic.

I honestly think shaking with pliers is probably better than the Drill thing. With a ton of models, I can imagine all the swapping over onto Drill bits taking more time than dipping the bloody things. And the point of Soft Tone is to save time!
Also, I wouldn't do the Drill thing with big metal models....
Is it possible to thin wood stain varnish?? That might be the best solution, so you can avoid pooling and loss of detail.

That shares my thoughts, Ian. I decided to go with using pliers simply because brushing it on all of the models would take so much time. Also, if I missed a spot, that would simply suck!
Yes, you can thin the stuff. With The Army Painter's dips, use turpentine. Warning: ventilation necessary! I don't know about other wood varnish (although Quickshade technically isn't one), but it should say how on the can. Not sure if I'll thin it for the little guys, but certainly for the Carnifex.
Also, use the turpentine to clean your brushes if applying with them. However, I would recommend keeping a separate vessel to decanter the varnish into, so as not to contaminate the entire can. It probably doesn't really matter, though
