Nah. MICH helmet RPK guy is possibly okay, and guy looking skeptical with Kalashnikov bisecting his face is okay.
Anyway, it's good they finally decided to do something about this. I predict a lot of nothing coming of it, though.

On the contrary...I'm sure our Saudi "friends" are going to be happy when the IA gets their asses handed to them. That's something, right?

How is there already an order of battle and scheme of maneuver graphic available for their offensive?
Opsec must have been covered in the same lesson as firearm safety.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

I was wondering the same thing. It reminds me of the news reports during Vietnam where a lot of operations were laid out on the networks before initiation.

I'd agree if any of the published stuff wound up being remotely useful to the jihadis holding the city, but half these guys are going to run off on the first night, and the other half are going to read their Garmins wrong and wind up in Mosul. They might as well hand out Tolkien's collected works for all the bearing the plan will have on reality.

From the picture in the OP, I hope the guys in the front columns are going to be wearing body armor; mostly for the trauma plates in the back.

Acting like that the best option is that they run away and keep there kit with them.

I was at an exercise at Ft. Dix/Lakehurst NAS/McGuire AFB many years ago, where we were running around with the MILES gear (laser tag with blanks). Friendly fire was a thing, most often to people getting shot in the back... don't give Air Force guys guns...

Safe to say, that rabble in the first picture look more like militia than highly-disciplined, trained troops. I hope that they're not the "cream" of the Iraqi army, half of them aren't even in proper boots!

Just because they look rag tag doesn't mean they are not effective in the field. A bunch of Russian troops actually wear tennis shoes in combat.

x2. I've been watching a lot of ANNA coverage of Syria, particuarly Damascus. The Syrian army is pretty rag-tag at times, and their T-72's are beat to hell. You can see all sorts of technical/tactical limitations if you have even an inkling of what to look for. But at the end of the day....their morale is high, unit cohesion seems good, and they are getting the job done, clearing neighborhoods and stacking terrorist bodies (a combination of using T-72's as assault guns and BMP-2's to dump infantry in and mop up).

Think about this, that squad shown in the first picture might not have all of the back packs and pouches because they might be close to base or near a vehicle that is carrying their long range gear.
The Iraqi military still had T55s when the US came to town for a 2nd time. Thats the great thing about Russian/Soviet gear, it's made to last for years without breaking.
