The Australian company Back 2 Base-ix are currently having a 50% off sale on all their MDF racks for the next 7 days, just enter the coupon code 'areyounuts' during the checkout and click 'apply changes' to add the 50% discount to your order.
http://www.back2base-ix.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=106

The postage might be too high for people from the US, but as an Australian who's recently been planning to buy a few paint racks these are just perfect for me.

(Just a random paint rack from their store for reference.)

Welp, that was a quick drop for 2 long sections and a tool section! At the price it was hard to beat and should hold all my Vallejo as well as crafting tools and brushes. Might paint the MDF though just to make it look cooler.

Generally, I dislike the screws. Still, 50% off is a great deal.

If only it wasn't just the MDF!

Yeah I would love the acrylic, but MDF will do the job just as well

I was looking at a set that would cost me about $170, and I couldn't justify it (2 corners, a long section and a tool section). But $85? That's really tempting.

I have wanted one of their racks for a long time. Of course they would do this when I have no disposable income.

Turns out I miscalculated. The set I wanted was actually $110. $55 for my dream paint rack? Done. Affordable express shipping? Double done.

If only it included the acrylic. :(

Slightly too strapped for cash to take advantage myself, probably - but for us international folks: they're including the $175 "free intl shipping included" bundle in this discount; that makes for a rather attractive option IMO

Yeah it wouldn't be hard to convince yourself to buy an extra piece or two so you bump it up over the $175 mark.

Well, since shipping two pieces to NL costs AUD 38 (and that doesn't get the discount) you're basically off cheaper as soon as you order AUD 50 of stuff after discount.
As you say, that's pretty much a given.
(however, since you can't choose a tool rack in lieu of any of the "basic" units in the AUD 175 pack you'd go up to AUD210 before, AUD 105 after shipping. Shame. I wouldn't mind trading two corners for one of those, really. who uses four corners anyway )

Runnin up on ya.

Order placed. Thanks for sharing!

That's actually a really good set up. I might get that one myself.

You go in for the 45* or 90* corners?

90*. Basically a long rack that curls back to the wall at the edges. Holds nearly 100 varying paints and lots of tool storage. There's some odd shaped paints I have that I haven't accomodated for (old hexagonal GW, Vallejo oil based metallics, etc) but those can sit on to of a section.

But yeah, that came to $110, not $170, which made it an even more tempting $55. Pulled the trigger last night, I threw my old paint station away when I moved.

90* corners are great value. Only $5 more then the 45* yet hold twice the amount of paints.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Aaaaand done.

Got a large straight section. A 90* corner and the tool rack. Plus a sheet of 0.5mm plasticard. Because why not.
For $60 that ain't bad.

AUD$91 for the rack pack delivered is very tempting, that less than £50.

Can I assume that this is laser cut and therefore smells very strongly of burnt wood? Ergo will need paint/time?

Cheers Rich.

I'll have to consider this, I'm a soft lad and that smell really makes me gag.

It is laser cut. Can't comment on the smell though. Maybe keep a smelly car thingy nearby to counter-act the smell of burnt wood?

Which incidentally is a smell I really love.

Just think of it as though your room will smell like you're camping.

$1,000,000 and a 50% discount

Finally, a paint rack that won't break the bank (for now). For the past...5 or so years I've been hauling my paint and tools around in a cardboard box held together with nothing more than packing tape. Hopefully this will stop me getting cut every time I try to find the ink and such.

As for the burnt wood smell: when you're constantly working with plastic glue, simple green, and other chemicals on a regular basis when painting/assembling etc, I would see that as an upside.

Thabks for sharing, went in on a rack pack. Any experience with how long these guys take to ship out orders?

Their page said it should be out within a week.

So I'd give it a fortnight. 3 weeks max barring acts of postal service.

Got my rack today.

Stuff looks awesome and easy enough to put together.

For those concerned about the smell. Its honestly not that bad. Kinda hits you at first but after a few minutes you don't notice it anymore.
