Not sure if there is anybody else out there that misses Confrontation (Not Rag'Narok), but a group of friends I play wargames with are doing our best to bring it back... well, at least get a solid group of players. We all missed just how beautiful the models were, and the actual combat system itself, because we found a gold mine in the Ukraine that has just almost every single model in stock and has almost every card for every army available to download for free! That, and the prices are the retail prices... not the insane eBay prices.

That must be the reason for the massing of Russian troops on the eastern border then.

Cool. I read through the rulebook and it didn't grab me, but there's no doubt that the minis were (and some still are) some of the finest gaming miniatures at the time.

Even the cheapo plastics were nice. A few of the werewolves made it into my KoW army. Glad you found a way to enjoy your favorite game even post-production. Enjoy!

There's nothing wrong with Ragnarok/Confrontation 3rd. I found it to be a better rule set than the earlier Confrontation editions(especially the earlier Ragnarok set).

Those would be recasts, too, if you care about that sort of thing.

I still manage to get in the occasional game between friends and this is one game that I wish was still around. I really loved the fluff behind the Alchemists of Dirz and the Ophidians.

It was always a challenge trying to get my minis painted up similar to the Rackham paint schemes and really pushed my painting abilities. The Cry Havoc articles were great at taking you through nmm process step by step.

I went through a period about a year ago where I finished my Lions and rebuilt my wolfen using all plastics (which were pretty fantastic, the humans were crap but the plastic wolfen had a lot of detail). For a while Rackham had every card and rulebook online for free and a few secondary websites still have them up.

C3 remains one of my favorite games of all time, the models were amazing, the fluff and artwork fantastic, and the rules had the perfect amount of complexity to them. That said, MAN are they hard to go back and read through! I don't remember having too much of an issue going from 2nd to 3rd, but going back years later with a fresh read really hammers home just how badly those rulebooks were set up. Still, great game that I wish I could generate some interest in locally, but no success.

I don't mind if they are recasts, but from what the guy has shown me, they come in the original blisters with the original cards. As long as they look good, it does not bother me one bit though.

I just can't wait to play the game again and enjoy the just the whole look of the game and how it is played. It was a very fun system, I was just too much of a GW snob to even think of venturing out into anything else. But i am branching out now and barely ever play anything GW nowadays haha.

Well, you guys are right, they are going to be recasts if I order them. Has anybody had any experience with the Cadwallon website? How are the models?

+1! I loved AT-43 and Confrontation! I have .... a Wulven? Army and ... I can't remember the other army, but I have over 100 models.

The only problem I have had getting random recasts has been the cheap metal. There's a company in China that makes them and sells on ebay; good detail quality, but the metal is very soft, enough so that if dropped from desk to hardwood floor it will squish a little detail. Also the metal might not be as well formed, which is to say you might get little crystals inside that make bits less flexible and easier to break.
If Cadwallon were smart they would use resin, as Rackham models were often a pain to build in metal due to the teeny tiny joints that need pinning.

In general though, I find that if I am going to ordering from a place I think might sell recasts, I only get a few models and stress test them a bit first before ordering a lot. Some models are more tolerant of iffy materials than others, and really good metal for miniatures is quite pricey these days. Those Drune raiders (horse guys with big axes) weigh a TON each, and so will be pricey with good metal and relatively delicate with poor. Just something to keep in mind.

Never bought a recast. I've heard that some shops in Eastern Europe has a few.

Brookhurst hobbies has a ton of the original blisters. Apparently they keep pulling more out of a big box in the back to keep their spinner stocked. It might be worth a call if you are looking for something that isn't too rare.

Ordered a couple of pieces from Cadwallon after seeing this the other week, Only had a quick look over them so far...seem ok, slightly soft metal noticable in thin parts, a few mould lines, but that's expected. I'll try and have a more thorough play with them this weekend...

Good to hear. There's always been a few pieces here and there I wanted to get my hands on.

Also, my wife sold the Snake with the Umbrella, sorry man.

Wow, those models look pretty good I must say. Definitely making me think about ordering from Cadwallon.
