hey dave... i also found good use from time to time in these clear plastic caps from the storage packages for the PC rods...there is good value in them!

and mate... your wickers are just the sweetest kind of gun i have layed my eyes upon! all the very small and perfectly done detail!

also i like how you mounted them guns to the walkers chassis! only fitting way i thinkto do the model justice! what clever plan do you have devised to make the model look more balanced? you need some niceley done smokestacks, mabye that is a way to get the mass of the walker better optical balanced by this...

Are you doing an exhaust system? If it's a steam driven mech then I do believe a proper exhaust is needed.

Looks bad ass!

HAHAHA you guys are nuts! I will be finishing this model (with paint) as soon as it is done, but it isn't done yet.

I don't want to add the smokestack (or even the Vickers) permanently until I am done manhandling the model, adding details, rivets, pipes, etc. But you can relax, it will definately have a smokestack (and petticoat- so the smoke doesn't obscure the pilot's vision too much), steam dome, headlamp,regulator/throttle valve, and safety valve, but there is no need for a sand dome, since there are no rails and no traction concerns.

Vik, when you say balanced, are you talking about aesthetics? or weight? Because it is supposed to look like a sentinel, if I add some large mass at the back, it won't look right (look at the silouette of a Sentinel and then this, they match more or less.). It is intended to have the scissored look of a walker, with the (forced) center of gravity at the hip joints. But the Sentinel's power plant is in the rear, mine is in the front- you're just going to have to deal with that difference in your brain I guess

I'm not adding any kind of counter-weight at the back, so sorry if this dissapoints anyone, you're just going to have to trust me. Hopefully. I am hoping that if it doesn't look right yet, it is just because no one is used to seeing this design yet.

I has one tiny-ikkle problem though lols... Vickers were renowned for over heating, so are you going to put the coolant feeds on them?

Yep, I'm going to run hoses from the bottom rims, under the barrels and up into the water system of the walker in whatever way looks the coolest
You may have noticed, but I don't have ANY pipes ran yet...This will come, probably tonight

You guys are making me blush with all the praise! I didn't realize people would like this so much, It was really just an excersize in cutting and gluing shapes in different combinations, to see what I could make and as an excuse to use the ebay watch gears in a project

That was going to be my next question lols... so fair enough

I think you need to do a mechanised Imperial guard steam-punk army. With locomotive style chimeras

petticoat??? sorry...is that a technical term? i bet i know what you´ve meant by that but please do enlighten me^^

Well, I'm not opposed to the idea of a steam-powered chimera at all, I think it's a great idea, I just don't want to embark on another army-building project any time soon.

@Vik, the Petticoat is the flared cap for the smokestack, trains all had to fit under standard-height overpasses and tunnels, so they built Steam Locomotives as big and powerful as they could within those height restrictions. When moving at speed, the smoke from the engine would flow right back into the cab, so they flared the top of the smokestack with the petticoat to raise that smoke level above the cab
I have raised my cab on my walker, because it doesn't have to fit in a tunnel.
