Some of the marines have the Raven on their chest plates instead of the Aquila.

Bingo! Long time fans will remember that DoW saw the creation of the new marine chapter "Ravenguard".

The turn taking each character did by killing someone then getting killed by the next person like a row of dominoes was kind of lame. But at least the Blood Ravens won this intro

Looking forward to the game. I really hope those are Nids at the end.

I agree, this guy kills this guy, who gets killed by this guy, who then gets killed by this guy, who then gets.... yeah, I agree.... except the Marines should have lost. Then again, the Marines had more points than the Eldar!

I thought it was a cool intro, the best part I thought was the Warp Spider. Too bad they aren't that cool in the tabletop version.

A 40K movie could be incredible, but unlikely for the reasons others mentioned. I mean, we're getting ready to see "Mutant Chronicles", based on the tabletop game "Warzone", which I was extremely passionate about. We'll get to see just how bad a movie-house can make a 'miniatures game' movie, firsthand.

Does anyone remember that 40K live-action 'trailer' back in the early 90's... Space Wolves in termi armor, a Genestealer Magus, and of course the Tyranid at the end? It was like 30-40 seconds long or so. I saw it at the GW booth at GenCon-Milwaukee. Anyone else remember seeing that? At the time I thought for sure that was a prelude to some kind of movie, too.

Just my 2 coppers.

Or the campy, but so effing awesome cinematic movies from that ancient game Final Liberation? Those were good fun, with marines in rubber suits and a commissar with a rather tiny cap. But awesome nonetheless.

Come on, man. You can't have the Blood Ravens lose both intros to their own games! What would the other chapters say !

For the record, the best part of the DOW2 E3 demo was that it led me to the Fallout3 demo/trailer.

Hallelujah, there is a God!

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Really depends on the time of year, I'm as likely to be in UK as in Malaysia.

The 'Nids are coming!!! Definately.

From what I read so far, it doesn't sound as if 'Nids will be a playable race like the IG in DOW 1. Hope I'm wrong.

This is far too good to be true.

4 races so far. Are they gong to include them all now?

Q

"they are more space marines in this game than there are imperial guard!"

Currently in command of:
-5th Elysia Drop Troop Regiment (IG)
-501st "Nutcrackers" Cadian Heavies Regiment (IG) <In progess>
-4th Ryzan Armoured Corp (IG) <Planned. waiting for IG Codex and Funds>

And a few more projects in tow

I must admite that when I heard about DoW II I was a bit worried. But after watching that movie, I can tell you one thing; Force Unleshed isn't going to be the only game I buy hot of the Self! This game looks Freakin Awesome!

"For $200, I'd rather hire a hooker the next time I go to Vegas!
I'd get more play time, play with a sexier model, and have a better story to tell afterwards.

Of course, at the current prices for FW Thunderhawks, it's enough to make the party interesting with a 2nd girl and small pile of blow... "

The word I've heard is that part of the reason they did DOW II was to create an engine that could properly handle 'Nids. Before the announcement that DOW II was coming, everyone kept asking when a DOW would be released that dealt with 'Nids. The designers kept saying over and over again that they didn't feel the DOW engine would do 'Nids justice. With DOW II, they've revamped the engine and word on the street is so they could make sure they could do our favorite little buggy friends.

Forever alone

I wonder if Relic are going to be lazy and not release any trailers for the other races.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Actually, for DoW II they used their slightly retouched Essence 2.0 engine, which they already used for the ace Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts.

The Blood Ravens didn't lose in the 1st DoW intro. They took the final objective and then rained in drop pods.

Also based on info from Play.com its due at the end of November this year.

They have always been good showing one side beating up the other, then going back the other way in their intros. I remember from the first one, the dread comes in and shoots up the mountain side, kills an ork only to get blasted apart by a tank busta bomb. It always was back and forth, they were not trying to show favorites.

I just find it laughable that a bolt pistol is just as good at killing something as the dread. It should have been a plasma pistol, that would make taking down the banshi in one shot more believable.

The cinematic were awesome in the first DOW game as well, didn't help the horrible game balance and gameplay issues though.

Thats my opinion of course, but the first DOW failed me on many levels. From what I've heard, I'm not convinced these issues have been fixed in the second one. But I'll give it a try anyway and see.

How did you find DOW a failure?

First they promised a different aspect to the normal collect and build. Which the stratigic points were nice variation, but you still had to collect power and "collect" waypoiints to build stuff. It wasn't nearly as free as they had promised. The worst part though was that because of the way points it made a come from behind victory impossible. Once you were down in stratigic points no amount of clever play could bring you back, you just couldn't get the resources to build up. Especially since both sides knew where they were and who controlled them.

Second was race balance. There wasn't any. Worse there wasn't even balance inside the units of each race. When all you had to do was spam tac marines with two HBs and two missile launchers to win the game, that is a problem.

I'll admit, I didn't play every race, but some were defiantly on the short end of the stick. Also since the low level units were so strong, buy the time you got around to being able to get the cooler "big" stuff the game was over. I never once had a "cometitive" game last long enough to bring out an ork squigoth.

I mostly played single player, but I did hear complaints along those lines for the multiplayer. Still much better than most RTS though.
Single player gets silly in the late game because they make up for inferior AI with massive numbers.

There's an interview on Gamespot with the project developer or somesuch that has two good bits of info. First off they "can't" tell you what race is in the sky, that screams nids to me.

He also mentioned that they game is designed to run on a decently high end 3 year old dell (6 months old when they started development.) as the rock bottom requirements. So I'm thinking a gig of ram, dual core processor and a 7 or 8 series Geforce. I dont' see it being any worse to run than Bioshock for sure.

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.
