Can you *please* give us a quick tutorial on how you painted the armor on those death guard?! I'd like to give it a go too but know I'd mess it up without a little help.

sorry for the delay. im about to start working on the tutorial tomorrow so hope to have it posted either at the weekend or early next week. life has an unfortunant way of butting in on the schedule...GGRRrrrrrr!
looking forward to it. i also got the FW termie and marine nurgle bits in the post and cant wait to get these done....but i wanna paint what i have first and then USE them! Panics gonna destroy me....but then that always happens when i start to roll dice....sigh.
im also stripping my old rhinos,predator and LR....thinking about some more funky vehicle nastiness to do but thats not for a while.

sorry its been a while unfortunantly i have been real busy and then really ill. to ill to work....but even too ill so sit and paint!!!! grumble....bah.....humbug!......mmmrrgggrrrr....mutter...phoey.

anyway, i have added to my collection. i have the FW DG CSM upgrade, 'the armour through the ages' and the nurgle metal banner bearer all modelled up and i have everything undercoated ready to paint. i decided not to put typhus vents on all the back packs. i didnt want everything to look the same. i really like the idea of some ancient CSM but also some newbies only just finding the true path so some will even have imperial packs while others packs with spikey bits etc etc. nothing to do with the time it takes to GS vents....nooooo.
i have 'finished' my test marine as you can see. the skulls i made a gold, muddy gold colour just to help them stand out and break up the armour (as was suggested by a few people on these sites...so thanks!) and the base is done. i havent painted the slate....what do you guys think? should i make the lower legs dusty? if so...any tips? i dont wanna ruin the armour!!
the knife i added the orange (cant recall the name) from the foundation set, stippled it on (again stolen!) for a rust look and added an extreme white highlight to the edges of the green trim.

ok time for some pics to prove i have been painting!

first up though meet my new vindicator. it was suggested to me that a possessed rhino was pointless, but a possessed vindi was a great idea....so i cut open the front and using a sawn plastic leg from a shelf rack made a big gun!

ok here is the rhino, i really like the way the rot is working out, just brown wash to shade then purple. no highlight as yet. the armour with be 'streaky' white like the marines. im still looking for a good IG paint scheme for cadians please a simple and quick one, thanks

ok now some marines. they are all done (the bloated bellies need the streaky white effect but thats it for these guys) but not based yet. the colours on the base i use as an undercoat to the gravel, water effect that ill do when they are all painted. i have another ten about 90% done. after they are finished ill do the rhino....as a treat!

the possessed tank is much better as a vindicator.
I'm a big fan of the red bolt guns, It looks good and is a nice contrast.

It all looks really good. I would paint the IG in the standard codex scheme, so as to make them easily identifiable.
I'm going to have to try your rotting flesh sculpting technique, it looks awesome!

its real eay, you slap on the GS making sure to 'think' about where it would congeal, i.e. be thicker, deeper. then once you have done that you stic the sculpting tool in and pull outwards in all four directions i.e. up, down, left, right and the rest takes care of itself. thats it.

Your green stuff ability is top notch. Nice work. I think you overdid the deamon rhino, and that happens to be what I like about it. Almost impossible to go overboard on nurgle. Keep it up. More pics!!!!! Love to see some painted as well.

That vindicator looks sick. I really wasn't sold at first on the Rhino but the paint on it pulls the texture together and looks more methodical. Kudos!

I'd love to do some 'just turned to the nurgle-side' DG, but cannot get that streaky white thing going.

hey guys and thanks for your comments.
the 'steaky white' is actually pretty easy to do:

spray white undercoat.

black wash (concentrate in recesses) brown and green wash the whole thing.

then water down some skull white. you want to be able to see through the white to the washes. paint in thin lines with a fine brush. (this is not as hard or time consuming as you might think) the white dries super fast and you go over it as much or as little as you want. thats it.

so i have had the worst 48 hours and im feeling all crappy and sorry for myself so to cheer myself up i took some pics of my latest work to post on here. i know, thats pretty sad but hell, i like it. so:

i promsed myself that once i had finished the second ten marines (see above) i would paint this rhino....so here is how im going so far....

im using the scheme Tapey gave me (thanks dude! saved me ages of trying out stuff) but I'm wondering if the legs are too orange? they seem to clash with the rest....but i cant decide on the best 'highlight' colour to pull everything together.....bleach bone? some kinda pale flesh colour.....help!

you guys have seen the colour scheme for my army now so i could you advise me on this:
what colour should i do my daemons? matching/contrasting? traditional green? white? red even? light or dark shades etc.....im hoping some of you artists will be able to help me out here as im stumped D:

Ueah, I think that the pants kind of clash with the tank. I think that all the stuff came out great though.
