I reckon!! People who type the same thing at the end of each of their posts are just lame.

You self-deprecating ba$tard!
I do miss my Cultists though.
And my non-generic Lesser Daemons...

Amusingly, I'm now making space to field generic Lesser Daemons, now that I'm not locked into GW's concept.

I think that the new codex wasn't all bad.
Sure we lost all of the rules for custom legions, but the way I see it, the new list still makes it possible for you to create the legions of old.
I think the major benefit is that players who are new to the game will see alot more options and we will eventually see a lot more variation. I for one am a big fan of variation in SM and CSM chapters, as it gets pretty boring facing the same chapters over and over again. When reading through the new book, you would only identify the old legions if you were looking for them. New players wouldn’t be looking for them, and would just go with the coolest looking ones, and seeing as there are so many more options in the new codex, there’s gunna be a lot more variation in CSM armies. Hopefully this will happen with SM as well (the variation, not the horrible nerf)
Now even though I say this doesn’t mean I’m 100% for the new codex. I think that the rules for the traitor legions added a lot of character for players who wanted a legion army, not just renegade marines and I would honestly prefer having the rules for specific CSM chapters (I may have just contradicted what I said in the paragraph above, just take that as the bright side of the new dex, and now I’m letting out my rage) and I was seriously intending on doing an Alpha legion army with heaps of cultists, but alas, my opportunity has left me.
Maybe FAQs or something in white dwarf will bring back our beloved legions.

u did not just say that there are more options for csm, you obviously havent evry played csm, and wat do you mean you want to see more variation with sm, mate they have like 5 different codex's, how much more of a variety do you want. Do a bit of research before you say anything like that again.

chaos should have a basic dex.
then there should be the book of khorne, nurgle, slaanesh and tzeentch s an upgrade.
then they could spend alot more time on each one.

Exactly, but before chaos i few other races are in desperate need of updating, IG Necs and DE, then maybe chaos, but it would be unrealy to see chaos have different chapter codex's, but im sure a fare few people would dissagree.

Having many options doesn't really translate to more diversity unless they are equally good, and in the case of CSM they clearly aren't. So what happens is most people just take the same things(Obliterators, Lash) and never take the poorer units (Dreads, Spawn, etc.).
Well, you may want to take bad units because of the models I guess.
Though not balanced by any means, there was more diversity before because you had different lists and restrictions.

With the 3rd ed book you had lots of different and VIABLE choices. While it was pretty cheese they could have just reduced some of the opness and kept the same flavor and style. Now you are pretty much locked into certain choices. It sucks.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

Ya telling me, you have to be a true chaos player to see that they have been stripped of a good codex.
