Wolfstan wrote:Here's a radical idea for GW, why don't they channel some of their resources into producing some nice plastic support kits for gamers.

What GW needs is for the vast pool of vets to have a "bloody hell, I want one of those, one of those, one of those and definately one of those!" moment. How do they do this? Simple, take 10 Forgeworld super heavies, titans, flyers or unique models and turn them into plastics.

Throw in some quality scenery kits and they could own us better then the devil himself.

You mean like BT uprades and DA Veterans? That's already working just fine. We now have more characterful modeling choices for our Spaz Marinz than ever before. They look great.

GW is already doing the "I need" thing via Apoc kits and datasheets. There are several people on Dakka that have Superheavy Tank companies, and I would hazard, by the time the year is out, that number will increase 2 or 3 fold. Not to mention the guys with Stompa madness. And then there are the triple-unit Datasheets that are selling loads of extra tanks as well.

Scenery would be good, and I look forward to the next batch of stuff. The scenery tech keeps improving.

That's an excellent choice, as it's organic shapes that are hard to hand-sculpt nicely.

this has nothing to do with selfish me being an Eldar player

Superscope wrote:Perhaps to solve all the major workings, they should release "Suppilment" mini-codex's to go with the races that have problems. Primary focus would be Tau, Necrons, Dark Eldar, Deamonhunters and maybe nids.

GW just resurrected that idea with the WD C: BA recently. Sold lots of $5+ WDs, but sold no new models. Oh, well.

I suspect GW will either release C: Inquisition (including Deathwatch & Grey Knights, with generic SM & IG) followed by WD C: Sisters of Battle, or vice versa. This shrinks the Allies problem down to something manageable by vastly reducing Codex to Codex coupling / linkages. But with the BA not selling, this is a long ways from now, I imagine.

Kungfuhustler wrote:Meh. It would be silly for GW to follow up guard with a completely erronius and non-core like space wolves. Necrons / dork elfdar / daemon hunters / sisters / Tau

Space Wolves will get the update next because they are the only army that requires a 2nd Codex to be played. Also, they are all-plastic with a bitz sprue, so are very easy to release as an army. The rest have standalone Codices, so they can wait until models catch up. I think GW is just waiting for the non-critical, non-momentum MEQ release slot to open for SW.

bravelybravesirrobin wrote:wolves have needed a refresh for longer, they used to sell bigger than crons have ever sold and GW likes to get some kind of Marine release in every year.

I agree that crons need the most help ruleswise of any list

Yup, GW loves their MEQs...

Necrons are a rules (and balance) nightmare. They need a major rewrite.

They wanted to make Nidzilla an option for players, but I *guarantee* you they never saw it becoming anything more than a niche within Tyranids, like Deathwing are to SM.

QFT.

Nids will return to being more horde-like. That is a given in 5E. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nid Troops be only Gaunt flavors & Rippers (Genestealers become Elites that require a Broodlord to be taken as Troops).

For some strange reason, I really think the Tyranids are likely to be released quite soon (again) if the rumors about space hulk being released fairly soon (within 365 days) is true.

It would boost both sales of the tyranid line, as well as the space hulk game itself.

This is assuming, of course, that space hulk will be similar to what we know already and not something altogether different. (orks and eldar for example)

With the Tyranids, I'm hoping that they add meaning to splinter fleets in the form of them being different swarms. I'd like to see this reflected in both the fluff and the rules. Something that makes each fleet have their own biomorph specialization and compete a for food just like different swarms of insects.

Something like:
Ol' One Eye is the Tyranid special creature that allows you to build an updated version of Nidzilla. Less 'Fexes but they get the regenrate ability at a reduced cost.

Red Terror is (Insert army build, limitations, and special abilities here)

And so on..

Oh, I'm sure we'll see Nid Special Characters that "unlock" Hive Fleet characteristics...

Here's how I see it "working"

Broodlord
- allows units to buy Rending upgrade for #pts/brood.
- allows broods of 12 Genestealers as Troops

Death Leaper
- allows units to buy Stealth upgrade for #pts/brood.
- allows additional Lictors as Fast

Old One Eye
- allows units to buy Regeneration upgrade for #pts/brood
- allows HtH Carnifexes as Elites

Winged HT
- allows units to buy Winged upgrade for #pts/brood
- allows broods of 12 Gargoyles as Troops

Red Terror
- allows units to buy ??? upgrade for #pts/brood
- allows broods of 3 Ravenors as Troops

Something like this, probably...

But counter balance by a special territorial rule that says anytime two or more different splinter fleets arrive on the table they will immediately attack one another.

I think you meant Death Leaper(being the Lictor "character") here.

And the Red Terror(being the mini-Trygon) here.

Here are the 3 things Ive heard

1. Phil kelly was/still is doing dark Eldar but is now working on a "special project" (as per white dwarf) which is most likely the might empires 40k armageddon thingy.

2. Daemonhunter test rules have been seen around the GW head offices along with plastic grey knight CADs

3. Rumblings of space wolves in Fall

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

I wish the IG release was already here so we could get some hints as to whats beyond. I like the IG and have several friends who are jazzed about the new codex.

I also have friends who've played for a longtime and their older armies need the love real bad. I'm really hoping the next three will be necrons,SWs,and Nids in fast release order.

I like the look and fluff of the IG. Alot of people like running a army based around the fact that the troops you send into combat are the average human and not some crappy smurfmarines.
