I find it hilarious, being that they are a site that refers to another trade site as "Nazi's" for their rule enforcement (on the "Nazi's" forum, you'd have gotten a brief suspension and nothing more).
Shows how some sites don't walk the walk and talk the talk as they claim.
You're not missing anything there , really, anyway.
Eric
Yes, clearly. No issues.
Now back to our originally posted topic - how are these people using a PO Box to accept mail and then return it saying "it's damaged"? Are the clerks there that oblivious or do they not have to sign for mail at theirs?
Q:
1) Are you "calling me out" for supporting Rogue-Market for disciplining the user for posting something inappropriate?
2) Or are you trying to call attention to the fact that I said that they over-reacted, especially considering how laid back they claim to be?
3) Or, are you commenting on my "not missing anything' statement?
A:
1) You see, you (I hope) FORGOT to include some text from my post:
You know, athba... to be fair... I can see you getting in trouble for that post on most sites... especially trade sites.
A permanent ban?
LOL
See that? Supporting them.
2) All I did was point out how they claim to be fair, but he got banned for one thing. Presuming that was the whole story, they over-reacted.
2a) You should also be aware that, in a different thread, it came out that the user became indignant with a Staff member there after being criticized for it. That being the case, I think their decision was APPROPRIATE.
3) There are other trade sites and other discussion sites. They aren't missing anything, as they can get everything they were banned from somewhere else. It's a simple concept, really.
If you'd like to delve into snide comments, please do it elsewhere. Contrary to what you may think, I'm attempting to keep this thread on track. Catching scammers is important to sites whose main goals are facilitating trade between users.
As for:
Now back to our originally posted topic - how are these people using a PO Box to accept mail and then return it saying "it's damaged"? Are the clerks there that oblivious or do they not have to sign for mail at theirs?
You'd be amazed at what you can get away with at the post office. Things you "can't" do are done openly all the time.
People ship regular mail in priority boxes, and just "scratch out" the "Priority" markings with a sharpie. They use "one price" Priority boxes to ship via "regular" priority. They open boxes, replace items inside for items of no value but equal weight, retape the box, then "refuse" shipment.
If "properly" presented, it's amazing what people get away with.
The right "story" to a disinterested, lazy, and/or unintelligent postal clerk could, quite easily, get a box like that returned.
Note, however, Justin's post above:
I will also note this - that they HAVe been paying for postage back. They aren't doing traditional RTS return to sender without paying for postage.
I'm amazed (though not disbelieving - see above, re: disinterested, etc.) that a postal clerk would allow a torn open box to go through the mail, but this would be an easy way to avoid having to explain your reason for returning the box as RTS.

Hold on.
Bartertown does not have a beef with traders on Rogue Market. We've never said not to join the site (though, we have said to deal carefully with people who do not have confirmed or "generic" ratings), and we have never sid anything negative (or remotely close to negative) about traders there.
We believe that there is room for WAY more than two online gaming trade sites (with BT and RM being the 2 I'm referring to) and think that everyone should deal with caution.
We do NOT speak against the SITE "Rogue-Market," nor (most of) its' staff.
We have an issue with ONE individual on that site. Period. That is as far as it goes.
Heck, on BTown, I myself have dealt RECENTLY with one of Rogue Market's staff members in a VERY pleasant manner.
If someone sends you an unsolicited and/or suspicious ad or offer on BTown, please contact an Administrator there (preferably myself or Porkuslime). Please, do not take it up publicly on other sites.
For the record, anyone following that link will discover that it supports what I reiterate here... We do NOT hold any grudge against the members of Rogue-Market and we do not (and will not) advise anyone NOT to join the site or trade there.
Anyone with questions, please PM me here or on BTown.
Eric
Wasn't attacking you directly Eric. Just an FYI.
I jump in to help a few members who get ripped off on B-Town and then I have a personal issue on my end, messing up a couple trades, and you come after me like a felon. Wonder why I don't go to Mods for help anymore?
There's my beef, and what I read, does sound like what I posted. I could be wrong.
*Edit* I see my mistake...
Sorry 'Rogue Market'. I meant to say: Trading with that [Chobo] person on Rogue Market. Not NAMED 'Rogue Market'. Sorry.
Lictor...
So, I have two things. One comment and one question.
The comment:
Justin Wu regularly accuses us (BTown staff) of all kinds of underhanded things that (a) we aren't doing and (b) we have proof of HIM doing (much of it, anyway). MY post, where I quoted yours and set the record straight was NOT directed at or an attack on you. It had information that was misleading (granted, unintentionally) and I wanted to state openly that it was NOT what we were saying before Wu took the opportunity to jump on it as "proof" of us having our users (and this is a quote) "slander and libel [him] on [other sites]."
Second... The question:
When did I ever "come after you like a felon?"
I remember when you disappeared for a while, and (I don't recall off hand how many) BTR's popped up in your name.
If, after a while, it was looked at as if you'd absconded with their stuff... Well, you should understand that. If you send something to someone, regardless of rating, then they just disappear... What are you to think?
The fact that you weren't banned from the site before you had the opportunity to come back and explain things should show SOME level of trust we had in you that you'd be back.
I'm sorry you got the idea that anyone thought the worst of you. No staff member PRIVATELY said anything of the sorts (to me or in our "Staff only" forum).

@ MM,
They taped back the box or such, well I dont know the specifics I've never handled the packages specifically, and taking the words from the many who were conned.
Justin has multiple excuses explaining why he's not a scammer, but he can't say anything in defense of Brother Warchild who was one of his Moderators, as I understand, and scammed people.
I just want to point out - Brother Warchild was an entirely different individual - yes he was a mod on an old site - but no personal or direct association.
It can be true that admins are responsible to their staff - but only to a certain realistic extent - i believe.
What he (Brother Warchild) did was posted like 4k posts on the old site and was considered a 'vet' member - then abused his powers and trust and decieved even the administration and staff team by faking his issues. It is true that he was indeed a staff - but i just want to make a comment that its not the same individual as you say he is..
however the scamming and such as posted about 40kterra aren't the same, but an individual who's name is Chad Herring, who is an entirely different person.
We feel that it is unfair association to say that staff scam = admin a scammer - we can't defend Brother Warchild's actions - because he IS a scammer.
We never defended him - he rather backstabbed us - by abusing RM's trust.
An Extreme example (just an fake example) - is if someone on BT staff scammed others and then they associate Lin, or you to be the scammer.
thats all - As you can see we have a thread about it:
http://www.rogue-market.com/f4/brother-warchild-233.html
But we'll just keep further discussion out. K?
---------------------------------------------------
Anywho - just keep this thread on track - no reply yet from Chris Jensen. Seems like our Randy issue is resolved.
So.. Chocobo and alike.. out lol.
Everyone just calm down - and we all good.
If you want to discuss stuff keep it pm that isn't about this thread.
thanks, and thanks.

Not a problem.
We actually have subtle updates = We found the white pages information and found out the other individual in the household with Chris Jensen - maybe his wife.
We are going to do some more background checks and tracing.

Also, in an ironic twist on something you threatened to do previously, I'm going to make another promise.
If the package is not signed for, it will be returned to me. If it is returned to me, I will set out everything that is in the box of import and burn it. I will watch it go up in flames.
The video that I shoot of it will be posted to YouTube. I will email you a link, as well as post links to it in open forums.
Remember when you threatened me that, if I sent you anything, you'd burn it and send me a link to the video, Matthew? Well, this way, you'll get what you want (burned models), regardless - MagickalMemories |

Rather harder - when Chrs Jensen lives in a REALLY small town - hard to find the police who has coverage in that are - they keep transfering me around.
FYI we did contact police - they BARELY assisted us, if any at all with Randy Rohring, it was USPS who assisted us.

That tends to be the typical response of the police. Unless it comes down to actual money stolen they are often pretty apathetic about helping..
Now if you had everyone that was scammed calling the police that would make them more likely actually do something. Most likely you could be dealing with a small police department that just doesn't have the manpower to investigate claims about something with the internet.

So - we finally confirmed a linkage to Chris Jensen and Randy Rohring - however Randy isn't playing along.
"He WAS JUST a co-worker. Last i knew he was going through a divorce and I have no contact or idea as I mentioned he WAS a co-worker. ALSO I MENTIONED I AM NOT Chris Jensen so please stop refering to me as him and accussing me. I already told you I AM working on taking care of my past and don't want a future like that. Everything was fine, I was working with people and doing the right thing and now this. I DON'T NEED THIS NOW. Last contact info I had was he lived in rushville and his old number. I don't have a new number. So there is no way for me to contact him. Call the old number, you got my unlisted number so find his home number and call that."
Going to nail both of them together - they have joint venture on jacking.

This is awesome that you guys have been able to narrow the scam down and that you are on the verge of catching these guys. It's like a movie, all we need now is a "Dakka/RM" production team to create, "Scam Fail-The Movie". Dogma could do the stunts, Frazzeled could be the grizzled cop, and Nurglicth could play the love interest.

Almost.
I'm demanding Randy - since he wont give us his contact information - tell me specifically where they worked previously, and i would contact the employer for information.
Chris Jensen is trying to run off the radar - and Randy rohring thinks that he can cover his friend's butt up.
We verified their connection when they traded feedback with each other, live 25 minutes away and lastly -
What I plan to do is call all NY gaming centers as well and give them a notice.
What is Chris Jensen going to do - report me for putting the truth of his scams? Good - I'd be able to get in touch with him then and lead the people to him ;P.
Its been rather complicated situation but with a hard hand a big stick - things can happen.
Randy - got scared because we found his unlisted home phone number through the use of information technology - he knew we found him.
Chris, on the other hand - we found his cell number - which he disconnected intentionally and trying to make a run for it.

RM, when you get around to visiting the stores, see if you can find some some face-shots of the guilty parties and turn them into a few posters listing their info. That way, they'll have to steer clear of every hobby shop in NY State if they don't want Law Enforcement catching up with them. If it isn't a victim that's going to call the police on them, it's a store owner who's gaming venue is one they frequent. Just a thought.

See if they have Facebook pages. You can find users via Email on Facebook, so seeing how you've got theirs, if they're up there, you should be able to find them easily. Email the URL to their pages to those stores so that they can print off their own posters.
