Trying to rationally analyze irrational ranting is the wrong move here, you have to just take a step back and realize that someone has devoted their life to protecting mankind against 40k.

Its also an opportune time to play "guess what radical group this is from".

I am not sure what to call that.

I laughed at times.

But seriously, beneath that roll of garbage was a real message, under certain conditions warhammer 40000 might be harmful to children. But to be frank, it is the parents duty to see to it thattheir kids are not formed by 40k fluff, not the governments to ban them. And I am sure anyone failing in this should immediately be banned of raising their child

And by the way, I am sure there are a high number of video games she or he could rage just as well, or not better over, but WAIT, the majority of the human people now like computer games. Lets go bash the ethnic shitstorm out of a minority interest hobby.

My biggest gripe however is how every little bit of it recks of not enough knowledge of the subject being rewiewed. Things like missing the nation of origin, Azrael (The stupid! IT BURNS!) and the complete refusal to accept it as a distopian science fiction game originally made for grown-ups.

Well, that's just my two cents, a lot of the people here have already said a lot of the things I wanted to say before I knew I wanted to say them, I'll just sit back and enjoy the rest of your comments and wait for the thread to eventually be locked by frazzled with an outrageously funny picture sequence.

There is alot of things in this world i must admit this seems almost like it was manufactured to be propaganda against propaganda. I think its a joke.. a real life joke. Meaning the person who did it is poking fun at society how they could take this game and twist it around to fulfill some dark conspiracy... I hope.

You could do this with any comic book, video game, religion, tooth fairy, instruction manual....

Anyways i hope its a joke i would rather see someone apply this kind of "Speculative slander" to other things like organized religion. Thats no different than 40k right? A fantasy world concocted by man with rules and regulations and instruction manuals on how to be a good soldier of the emperor(god)?

On an other note, added to the list of things we NEED this person to rewiew should be Cuthulhu books and the roleplay-game.

what's this bozo's email addy? we should all send him a nice letter explaining the difference between fantasy and reality.. (letting him know it's a game with little toy plastic soldiers, not a religion that is secretly recruiting young teenagers to turn them into space marines by removing their organs and putting in new one..)

I can see some point to the article. But, if you're concerned about what your kids see, spend more time with your kids, not worrying about what everyone else's kid sees.

I think this is a case of good intentions run amok. Should you just plunk a kid down with the game? No. That doesn't mean the game is bad or damaging to them, anymore than a violent movie or video game would be. As with everything, if you introduce the game to a kid and discuss it (hey, the Imperium isn't really 'good', and you know that daemons aren't real, and neither are 7-foot tall superhumans) with them, it can be fine. Kids are smarter than adults give them credit for being - I'm pretty sure that my 9-year old niece would understand that Space Marines aren't real, she doesn't need gene modification, daemons aren't real either, and she shouldn'd go burn the heretic, and that Azrael is just a name and not some propaganda to support Israel.

Also,
It's very highly elite you know. Killing is good.
It is.
No really.
Well is it, or isn't it?

Okay so if it's not, then why this elaborate production of killing toys for children?

If killing is NOT good, does it make for appropriate toys? I'm confused here, you tell me.

Because it's good if you don't actually think about it too much and if it's you doing the killing but it's only bad when the other guy does it.
That's a total break down of logic.

Violence isn't controlled any better now than it ever has been. In "civilized" cultures, it's looked down upon as reactionary - but reactionaries are often idolized in those same cultures. Refer to mainstream film, television, and radio media for examples.

The author of the blog clearly cherry picked the fluff to see what they wanted to see, but the fact remains that GW is focusing sales on a younger generation of gamers (likely the children of gamers...) and the imagery of the game is definitely mature content. It makes me wonder if 40K as a whole will become a softer, more gentle and child friendly game as the target age of GW's customer gets younger and younger...
