That's a good reason why no one should ever listen to him ever again.

Specialist games suck aye, sir you either have no soul, no sense of homour or really do just suck yourself.

I don't see why everyone decided to wait until just now to bring that up, didn't anyone see me reply to him earlier?

But yeah, even never having played an actual SG myself I still wouldn't say something like that. They certainly seem to be better written and have more soul put into them.

I think I'd be way happier with the prices I pay for gw's stuff if the rules and codices were officially faq'd more frequently, or just plain written better in the first place. Granted I know it takes a lot of work to make a codex, but when you consider the *major* oversights in the guard codex it's frustrating to keep internally justifying the price of the models.

In all honesty, if the game were incredibly tight and balanced I wouldn't even take a second to complain about the prices of the models, but it seems like GW's just cramming as much new gak that sounds cool into the codex as they can and worrying about balancing later.

Yeah, but a tight and balanced game with regular FAQs costs too much/takes too much effort, and besides the only people interested in that are beardy tournament gamers anyway and nobody likes them.

I knew it! Sidstyler is part of the Dakka Casual Gamer Mafia!!!!! You bastard!

In all seriousness though - writing a game that is well put together, well written, and balanced is quite an effort - it's not easy and anyone who's tried to develop their own ruleset would say the same. Of course, the key word in that last sentence was 'tried'. GW has yet to try to make their rules half-way decent in years. Forge World is even worse, mistaking 'Copy/Paste' for 'Codex Development'.

Do you consider Tournament Gamers to be this generation's Hitler Youth?
Do you think the phrase 'Tournament Gamer' should be added to the word filter for being a swear word?
Is your soap box of moral high ground +1 nice and shiny, and kept in good condition?
Have you recently had surgery to remove any traces of logical or intelligence?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you don't need to join the Casual Gamer Mafia because you're already a member.

The alternative to the DCGM is to just be a casual gamer, one who respects that there are many ways to derive enjoyment from the hobby, that no one way is greater than any other, and that talking down to others because they enjoy certain aspects of this hobby over others is not the way to operate.

The casual vs tournament gamer is silly, in my opinion.

But there's no real way around it, unless they start having fluff based tournaments or fiddling with power armored armies so everyone isn't required to field stuff to crack MEQs.

Of course it is, which is why I will continue to mock any casual gamer that attempts to assert some imaginary moral high-ground because they don't play competativley or any tournament gamer who claims any sort of superiority because they can beat lots of people.

So can we make a Dakka mandate that from now on, peace shall reign in the lands of Warhammer unless you win using lists that are 100% fluff accurate?

But then the Fluff Yakuza will storm in, saying that only they get to define what's fluff accurate. It'll be all out war, death in the street - a City of Death, so to speak.

Then you have to start buying fluff codexes to cross reference your army list against the official gw fluff chart.

There will be complicated and strange interactions in the fluff world and there will need to be multiple faq's to clear up any confusion.

How do you know of the possibly existent fluff chart? I am neither confirming nor denying its existence by asking this question, I would just like to know what gives you that idea? I don't remember seeing you at GW's secret ceremony where we may or may not have been sworn is as protectors of the expanded universe.

It's a fact. GW used to be better value for money, with better and more regular crunch and fluff. Though it's also clear the models are better now.

Simply for the reason you can't get Warhammer 40k minis from anyone else. They know it and exploit the crap out of it.
