Well, Dark Eldar is the obvious choice, but I selected other.
The Traitor Legions need special rules. I want to bring my Death Guard out of protest exile.

They have not been updated. I believe so far it's just Space Marines, Imperial Guard & Orks, Possibly Chaos Daemons too. Someone please quote this and correct me for sure... Who's 5th Ed?

Accusing DE of not needing an update simply because their codex is incidentally competitive in 5th ed is not acceptable... By that logic, no army needs an update.
We might see viable DE armies, but they all use the same few units... It's like Nidzilla. Functional, but very lame that there are so many other units in the codex that are so incredibly not worth using. And even if their rules and units were all useful, the models alone put them at the top of the list for an update... GWs neglect of DE is the stuff of legends beyond extraordinary. It has turned the army into the shame of 40k with their atrocious models, shallow fluff, and rules that need to be filtered and translated just to make sense in 5th edition. Just fething do it already...

I like the SoB army codex. It is playable but the assault troops suck.
Sisters Repentia have to make their way across the board to the combat. Survive the first hit; then they are deadly. As long as the player can get good dice rolls.
Seraphim need a higher STR to wound. Yes, I can see that with melta bombs assaulting a non moving vehicle is effective.

Actually only Guard and SM are 5th ed with SW coming out in October
I voted Tau as (I play) the rules as written are so bad a blind man with no hands could write them better, then DE for after 10 years is sad (bad GW, bad, stop it, stop it, stop it.)

Even being relatively new to 40k, from what I have seen so far of the Necrons, Inquistion, and DE (armies I considered starting for my second) I was turned off by their outdated dexes and outdated models :(, despite the fact I would have loved to play them for fluff and overall coolness. I think these 4 armies from what I have heard, read, and seen need a big update, followed quickly by the 4th ed codices.
So the DE codex has been out for 10 years? Seems silly that they haven't been updated at all in that span of time...

Daemonhunters because Grey knights now have so many almost useless rules it's vexing. And they're too expensive/weak compared to others. Still love em but the need some fixin
And CSM. Recombine CSM and Daemons, or make them useable together, these summoned lesser daemons are ridiculous. Why can't CSM and Daemons join like DH, WH, SM and IG?
Also we need special legions. The fact that I can take 9 Oblitz, 2 Sorcs, 2 Squads of Ksons and lots of other randoms in a Zerker list annoys me. Mebe 3 Codexes that can all be used together? Loyalists get it.....

My picks are Dark Eldar and Daemonhunters. They both really deserve a codex.
Dark Eldar may be competitive in games but they've gone 11 years without a new codex and look awful on the battlefield.
Daemonhunters look alright but aren't at all competitive.

omg please give the necrons a new codex that fixes the phase out or at least let you manage it or save or something. Its so crippling on a widely used and loved army, but so many players stop playing because you just cant win games as well as other races. I also put down dark eldar cause they need a new book and more importantly some 13 or 14 front armor vehicles. While im on dark eldar they need some more armor and defensive type things. I believe the codex says that this is not a assault force or a defense force, but a raiding party. I voted tau because i play them and the only reason why i did is they really didnt give us a big wow 5ed we basically have some nerfs some buffs and 2 new weapons, I guess i just expect more seeing what space marines get as far as options. I also voted orks, but the only reason why is cuase i think some of the foreworld stuff needs to to be put in the codex and giving a miniature. They put stuff in white dwarf all the time that makes ya all giddy and then you cant find the miniature anyware and cant use in most games. Still though Dark Eldar should have a codex update along time ago seeing as all the units and vehicles are not meant for 90 percent of games played by warhammer 40k. oh and why are we about to come out with another chapter space marine codex when we have whole armys that need updates. I mean lets say 1/3 of the player drop there present marines and go space wolves. Thats still no where near the number of necron and DE players that NEED a update. shame shame My 2 extra cents: Just a thought but since Dark Eldar take prisoners all the time and even consolidate after assalting always to get prisoners. Why not have units or wargear set up so that when they take prisoners they use them as body shields or put a mindcontrol collar on said prisoners and send them off into there once friends. Now thats dark eldar fluff meeting the table game play.

I think that the Black Templars need an update as the rules for the land raider crusader are a bit dated, as the DH (and probably others) have better rules for the hurricane bolters on it

You do know the daemonhunters codex is older than yours, the DH rules might have better but they are older. GW obviously decided to make the LR worse in newer codexes.
