I should point out Ghidorah, that one usually follows the other.

It's not much but it is a start.

Cool start. The missions I'm making are... larger... and often use more than one set. What can I say, I love that map-making program!!!

Does that programme allow you to use more than one set?

Yes. It crosses out the ones you've used, but doesn't stop you from dragging more on.

Making the sand-timer not clog up. -_- it's the only thing wrong with mine right now.

One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.

Pre-painted pieces. Since this is a board game and since the figs are not intended for 40K It would of made sense. I have enough 40K to paint already...

I would say that the one thing which lets the set down is the cheap and nasty sand timer, it really wouldn't have taken a lot to include a more themed piece.

Other areas for improvement would have been including "an opaque container" for the command point pieces. Actual board sections for the Genestealer/Space marine entry/exit points, as opposed to the cardboard counters. I would also like to have seen a lot of the counters done in plastic rather than cardboard, more for the sake of durability than anything else.

Including spare baggies for the counters was a nice touch, but having velvet bags or rigid containers would have been a nicer touch.

I think that where pre-painted mini's go, GW could have opened a can of works with that one, especialy with the limited run nature of the game, should anyone have picked up a copy with bad paint jobs there could have been a whole load of complaints.

On the whole though these are minor gripes and overall the game is a definate 9 out of 10

Personally, I can't think of a single damned thing! Sorry but the moment this was announced I was insanely excited. Then when I saw more pics of it I was hugely impressed. Then the first time I saw it in the flesh and played a game of it I was literally blown away and finally when I got my own copy I could have wept for joy! Everything about the whole game screams quality (ok the sand timer is cheap and nasty by the standards of sand timers but hey - they could have included nothing and said 'use your watch') The minis are beautiful, the boards are amazing, the books are exquisite, the background info and the fact that they have taken so much time and effort over the bios of each individual marine is inspired. At risk of sounding as if I work for GW, this is definitively the BEST board game I have ever seen IMHO. Even better than WHQ, and THAT's saying something from me, believe me
