Interesting, I havent seen to many people use testors. I use the flat black as a primer, but I have to say I think I will look at their other colors a little more now.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

I'm just used to testors because it is the paint I used to use before I started warhammering. However, I do like their range of colors, especially because they have true-to-military colors. Also, I use tamiya white primer because of what I found out after reading this http://www.maximusinminimis.com/Primer%20Test.html .
By the way, I finished the last 4 of that tac squad.
I got tired of trying to blend things, so I just decided to drybrush as much as I can. So I drybrushed almost all greys with the base color of the armor which created a dusted look. The effect can be seen on the pockets and objects around the waist.
Line colors:
Lighter lines: Testors Model Master Acryl (TMMA) sand + TMMA dark earth + GW bestial brown
Darker lines: TMMA black + TMMA euro grey to give the line more depth (dark drawn over lighter lines)
Damage:
TMMA euro grey underlined with TMMA white
Eyes:
TMMA pale green + insignia blue blended more and more white
Chest Eagle:
Wash of TMMA dunkelgrun rlm 82
Backpack
Chipped paint: TMMA silver
Dust: drybrushed TMMA dark earth + sand
Abdomen area:
Wash of TMMA pale green + insignia blue
There ya go! If you have any questions just let me know!

i have a question:
on page 2 you have an image of a marine with a completely modded helmet - 2 protruding optics and a third (camera i guess) on what looks like an Ironman helmet... what did you use as a base - or was it sculpted on a regular helmet?

Very nice looking marines, a bit different from the usual 'another coat of armour-wax before you step off the thunderhawk' schemes that are typically used.
Like your idea for the bases, functional and saves a lot on PVA and sand!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I don't usually follow 40k blogs, but these are awesome. The putty work, and the paint is fantastic. I like marines that have this vibe a bit more than the 'space-knight' thing that is going on a lot. Keep up the excellent work!

i love how these marines look except for the handlebars... i've read the justifications on them, but it just seems that a hud on the helmets and a chain might be able to do it, but if you like it w/e... keep up the good work
