I just hate how you NEED to be online and connected to even play a bloody single player game, and your save files are all stored online as well so if its servers are down (which they are frequently) then your gonna have to either wiat or start your game all over again!

Squig_herder wrote:Lets examine those "features"

No you see, you've missed my point. You've ommitted all these features from your post as if the PS3 has them and the Xbox doesn't.

1. DVD's: X-box= standard dvd's, PS3= DVD's and Blue-ray

Much like you say you have a PC for X features, I have a Blu-Ray player for that.
2. Game Library: X-box & PS3= roughly the same [PS3 having more exclusives as listed before

Quantity != Quality
3. Online community: X-box & PS3 = both have them, you just have to pay for it on the x-box live.

Yes, but you listed it for PS3 but not Xbox.
4. Music: X-box & PS3 = both have the ability to play music, even during playing [only the same game titles are now getting it but they are promising an update for all

But I can do that for all of my games now.
5. Computer link: X-box & PS3 = both have it

See 3.
6. Games on demand: I know of a thrid party thing for games on both x-box and PS3, nothing special.

Downloading complete games and running them straight of the hard drive isn't something special on a home console?
7. Cross game voice chat: x-box & PS3 have it, no points awarded therer.

I may be wrong here but since when did the PS3 have it?
8. Streaming music: ?? dont know what that is, havent really look through my x-box as I dont really like to play it. Point it out to me though so I can actually see if it works the download, instead of just having an ipod in my x-box.

"no points for ignorance"
9. Hard Drive Installation: X-box= most title, PS3=few titles. Nothing too special about 3 seconds on load, but i'll give you a point for wasted space.

Yeah having a machine run much quieter, cooler and faster is wasted space.
10. X-box live arcade: X-box=yep you have it, PS3= have a similar sort of thing, go on PSN and have a look, no points for ignorance.

I've gone on PSN and it has nowhere near the quality of the Xbox Live Arcade. Also where's the PSN Indie games?

You're talking nonsense. That's not the case at all.

I love my 360 and ps3 but I was reading a game informer magazine and it showed the malfunction rate for the ps3 wii and 360 - ps3 had around 10-15% wii even less and xbox had 53% besides over the course of the years ive had to return my xbox 3 TIMES to get fixed because of the "Red ring of Death" (It wasn't overheat mind you! it was the motherchip breaking or a graphical error aka E74)

I have a ps3 and 360 and I play my 360 more why? well it has more games than the ps3 and a bigger online community.

also here a list of games console specific (that i can think of)

Xbox PS3
halo 1,2,3 and wars Killzone 1,2
GOW 1,2 Litlle Big planet 1,2
Borderlands
RE 5 I think
Others of course that i forgot for both

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Sorry
Little big 1,2
Killzone 1,2 are for ps3

I like my 360 but I also intend to get a PS3.

As well, I've had the RRoD for the past year but bought my 360 4 years ago. Any way to get a replacement without a receipt (in 4 years I've misplaced it..lol)?

If you opted for a warranty, you should be able to get it. I've heard tell that GameStop will exchange RRoD'd 360s too, but...I dunno.

Don't know if I did or not. Guess it'd be easy to find out.

How can a Japanese exclusive title have any connection to weeaboos?

Wouldn't the fact that its...Japanese actually make it...Japanese? And therefore not poseur?

You're putting far too much thought into this, I can tell.

The original comment was to point out that single region(Pacific/Asian market) exclusives don't count--even if they're regular imports, given that the folk who usually import them are your typical weebos.

Just like I wouldn't count the Madden, NBA live, etc series due to being "just" a North American/US release.

Why is the cultural bias of the person doing the importing at all relevant? Do I get to discount the sales of Halo 3 because the people who bought it probably also own Halo: CE, and Halo 2; clearly indicating a lack of impartiality which renders their input on the quality of a gaming library irrelevant? After all, they're just your typical foul-mouthed, pre-teen, LIVE trolls.

Sure, provided we can discount your opinions for being a self-righteous, argumentative smartass.

But obviously, you're going to keep focusing on "cultural bias" rather than manning up and realizing that the point was that it is a SINGLE REGION RELEASE that requires being special ordered.

But really, keep arguing that it's racism or some form of persecution.

Don't be a prick.

Calling someone a Weebo is as much a hurtful term as if I called you a Redneck. I'm not saying you are, it's a cultural term applied overly liberally to people with a certain leaning - taste, or not.

This does not discount the fact that even if it's not 'Racist' per se it's still not a nice thing to call someone, or apply as a label. You clearly seem to like calling people this, which puts me to the belief that you think it's witty or something like that.

It really, really isn't.

I don't like to point out where people are being a complete arse, that's a mod's job. But in this case, cut the crap.

And to sit there saying that "weebo" is a term for racism?

Bull.

And since he wants to pipe up towards the end of the thread, especially when the thread should have been locked days ago for being as bad as the "let's all hate GW" pity parties.

The whole point was that you will NOT see a general population of Europe/North America going through the hassle of ordering Asian "exclusives". Thus--you have to discount the Asian market exclusives, just like you have to discount the European or North American exclusives.

I think we'd all be better off if you said that while looking in a mirror. After all, I'm not the one who asked another poster if they were an idiot.

If you live in the United States. The counter-point here is, and has been for about 1-1/2 pages, that the conversation doesn't pertain only to those people who live in the United States.

Kanluwen wrote:

When did I say anything about racism or persecution? If anything I'd argue that you appear to have a rather well developed persecution complex within the auspices of this thread.

No, what I was actually alluding to was the fact that eliminating titles by a set of arbitrary criteria which you have established (single-region release) does nothing for your argument beyond dragging it into 'No true Scotsman' territory. Which is fine insofar as your only attempting to point out how you feel about a given topic, but your tone and persistence clearly indicate that you're attempting to establish some kind objective 'gaming fact'. Again, you may want to reconsider your use of terms like 'self-righteous' and 'argumentative'.

Edit: There are only 38 PS3 games exclusive to the Japanese market; meaning there are 121 games exclusive to the PS3 in the North American market. Four more than the 117 exclusive 360 games.

Oh I'm sorry, so I guess I was just imagining the "You must be connected to Live to access your save files" when playing both DoW2 and Arkham Asylum...p'shaw!

And playing GoW on the PC with the Live system is a collosal pain in the rear as well...and yet again, you cannot access your save files when its server decides it's down...which it frequently is.

I've actually been scared away from PC gaming because of Games for Windows Live, which is a shame cause I love my pC. I reiterate that XBL is a wonderful system, as is PSN. But Games for Windows Live is a mess.

How very mature of you.
I assumed, since I had missed your first post and the basis of this thread was Xbox criticism (in fact the first post ended in "the PC is fine") that you were referring to the 360.

Anyway, what was to stop you from creating an offline profile for single player games that would store your save files locally?

Nothing was stopping me, except the fact that much of the content on many of the games can only be accesed, saved and implemented online. It's a deeply crap system, a knee-jerk reaction to the popularity of XBL and the threat of PC piracy.

And even storing the save files locally, the game itself cannot access them due to the frustrating online functionality. grrr!

And the basis of the thread is actually "are you sick of microsoft" so is a bit broader than just the xbox ^^

This is why I don't play online

-You graphics arnt all that good, [not that it worries me but still a noticeable thing]

Looks fine for me in HD, if I want to see something that looks realistic I'll watch TV

-I have bought now 3 rechargeable packs and 2 battery packs, and 2 controllers, all have had a problem of some description [grrrrr!]

Stop being so rough on them

-The games are roughly the same.

If all you play is the Fifa series, then sure

Joking aside, I must say my gripe is with the prices of games and other bits and bobs. I've only bought one game new in the past 18 months, the rest I wait until the prices drop or get them second hand.

I'm wondering where you paid $150 dollars for the Wi-Fi adapter, since even the name brand Microsoft 360 Adapter retails for $99 USD(and the few off brands sell for $60-70 USD).

Unless you don't mean USD, because I just realized I forgot to check your flag before posting this.

As someone who has been using microsoft products for almost two decades now, I outright refuse to buy an xbox. My reasoning is that in the 20-odd years I've used their products, they've seldom got anything right so why would I want a gaming console run by that mickey mouse operation?

I've had to send one of my xbox's back to have it fixed, it was chewing up games.

I have a PS3.. I love the PS3 It's replaced my TV digibox (you can save programs to the PS3 hard disk like sky plus), DVD/BD player, CD player... It makes under the TV so much more tidy.

I have all three consoles Wii, Xbox and PS3... In my experience they all fill a different gaming requirement;
  • Wii is for Playing Less serious Games and for girls to play at Parties

  • Xbox is for Playing More serious Games

  • PS3 is for playing MGS4

  • Panic...
