Gotta say, I have the OPPOSITE opinion - that the run-right-at-you knifey guys and double-shotgun guys are far more frustrating and boring than the campers.

I prestiged the other day, and only barely used the 1887's, but was actually more shocked than when I used the M16 at how much it felt like I was cheating.

The range is ridiculous. Incomparable and unrealistic.

And Commando + Tactical Knife?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE KNIFED ME FROM THE NEXT ROOM?

Idk how facing people that are literally not moving could be less boring than players running up in your face. C'mon, you can't tell me that trying to get back at a kniefy guy ins't fun? At least they're not afraid to get out there in the open. Granted both can be very annoying.

I just can't imagine how boring it would be to actually be a camper. But it always funny to witness the "running of the campers" in the last few seconds of the game where the hiding campers tend to run out from their corner to get more kills. If only they actually played like that to begin with......yada yada yada

I like this though. If you see a pile of bodies in front of a window, why in the hell would you go in front of that window.
Also, in quarry I have a nice spot that allows me to see most of the map to the left of me and straight down into the corridor in front of me and people will get shot by me more than 5 times before they figure out that it ain't happening. I love those people.

oh and how do you see loads of players like me when you dont have the game?

The way I see it, if you take up a firing position that can shoot over a fair portion of the map, you aren't camping. If you're defending an objective, you aren't camping. That's what you're supposed to do.

If you move into a tiny hole or into the corner of a room and sit there not moving until someone walks past then you're camping. Camping is a really particular thing.

I don't understand how you can die to campers more than once or twice. There was a guy in Quarry hiding in the rafters of one of the rooms. Impossible to see the first time but I went back, popped a flashbang and fragged his ass.

I've seen people set up some great crossfires, but with smoke and flash grenades, camping just doesn't seem that successful to me in MW2.

If you don't know the maps that well? I know quite a lot of people, myself included, who picked up MW and started playing it online and essentially decided not to bother after a few hours of play, almost all mainly due to campers... oh, and the way that you get put up against people who are on their 18th way through the ranking system and have all the best weapons, armour, etc, while you are stuffed carrying round the pathetic selection of rubbish you start off with.

Not exactly a welcoming environment to start playing in.

Hell, even in games I play a lot, it is possible to get killed by the same camper (or sniper, whatever) several times as you try to figure out exactly where they are and how to get to them.

Generally that's the case, but sometimes the Spawning System in this game is gimped beyond belief, I once got whacked by the same guy three times withing seconds of spawning because my team where based quite neraby. It was only when they got pushed from their position I was able to spawn and Barrett the bugger.

Also, the starting weapons aren't bad at all, it's how to use them that matters. The Barrett is the starting Sniper Rifle, but 9 times out of 10 I've found it vastly preferable to the rubbish you get afterward. Admittedly, the shotguns and assault rifles get better the higher you go, but everything else is pretty sorted! Plus it only takes 10 or so kils to start upgrading the weapon you have (silencers, Heartbeat Sensors etc) so the playing field becomes quite level if you know what your doing.

I will say this though, 'nade launchers of all kinds are designed for those of little testicles who molest dogs. I'm not talking folks who use them appropriately, I'm talking the guys who ONLY and ALWAYS use them, especially in Hardcore matches. Almost as infuriating as double-shotgun guy or Javelin-hack boy!

Thats one of my issues with COD games, you start off with crap equip, and the more exprienced, players with better stuff can kill you. I guess thats why they got prestigee.

I was in the game the other day where I kept respawning just ahead of where a Really good player was traveling thru the map. He commented that I made up 8 kills on an 11 kill streak he made.

It's also really fun to kill someone right after you see them drop a Tactical Insertion.

Is it camping if you wait next to a tactical insert for the guy to respawn?

That's just the drawback to using tactical insertion.

I tend to just shoot the tactical insertions myself.

So the M16, MP5, SAW, W105 and the M40 were crap? M40 best sniper, MP5 clearly best Sub, M16 ridiculously powered and accurate beyond any other gun.

Ditto with the SVT, Thompson, Springfield, Trench Gun, and Type 99? The 99's gak, the rest were unbelievable.

Are you telling me that the FAMAS/M4, Spas-12, Barrett, L86, etc. are BAD?

I havn't played MW1 much.

Springfield is only good with a scope, and the other sniper (cant remeber name, but you get at 55 or something) is waaay better. Trench gun is just awesome . But there are loads of better sub machineguns then a frigging Thompson! I know what they look like, I just cant remeber there names, because I havn't played WOW in ages.

I dunno about MW1 or MW2 (Getting for Xmas), but In COD: World at War, the higher level you get, the better guns you get. With a few exceptions, like the MP40, thompson. Which (I think) are put there to help new players, as their easy to use.

I just loathe these guys. And after their lucky nade launcher shot which took out half a team you watch killcam and see that they just walk around
with the nade launcher at all times, barely using the weapon its attached to!!!!!!!!!!

It's not the campers themselves that annoy me. The game is just too fast-paced for campers to really score high on the charts. Plus if you play a lot of Ground War like I do, there're too many people for them to get away with it for long. So again, the campers don't annoy me much.

It's the noobs that can't even CAMP properly, and actually need an aimbot to help them.

Seriously. The amount of aimbot hacking is insane. I've seen so many impossible game-winners and kill-cam shots that just snap dead onto a target behind a wall or far, far behind the shooter that it's disgusting. I'm wondering how empty MW2's online scene will be when they start banning aimbot noobs.

I notice the campers tend to die pretty quickly... unless they have claymores, then they just fortify a spot until someone gets em. Either way, a long range headshot with an assault rifle usually does the trick

I used to like sniping people with the scorpion in the first modern warfare, its a shame they worked on range issues. Using an assault rifle to snipe a sniper is just normal. Now, single shotting a sniper with a SMG or pistol is the way to go.

Its part of the CoD Commandments:
Thou shalt humiliate the sniper.
Thou shalt use killcam to find the sniper.
Thou shalt use bomb squad lest thou shalt feel the sniper's wrath.

Thou shalt hide and think no one knows where thou are.

I'm one of those people that gets sniped, then gets pissed and goes back to kill the guy, I'll keep going back the same route over and over till he finally misses me and I get in and kill him. One time I died like 7 times in the process, but it feels sooo good to finally get him after that. I guess it would help if I learned the maps better...

And then your screen name pops up on the lower left-hand side of the screen with the sniper's screen name and a picture of a claymore.

I just learned to be an active sniper so I try to avoid claymore use and sitting in one area. I usually stick on commando pro and sit in a high elevated position for maybe two kills and then move. In quarry I sit in that one two story building and like to jump out of the window onto people running down below while knifing them. It looks funny in kill cam too.

Except for the part where grenades detonate claymores, thus negating that issue, hm?

Only if the splash damage gets the claymore. Also, by flashbanging and grenading you're giving yourself away. Many an attempted assassin have been knifed after flashbanging the room I was sitting in, I usually get picked off by another sniper or some guy with a machine gun and 100+ bullets to waste.

All in all it comes down to the fact that even tried and true tactics may not work in all cases. Grenades are tricky and mastery is nearly impossible (WTF underslung grenade launchers not launching explosive grenades).

All in all it comes down to the fact that even tried and true tactics may not work in all cases. Grenades are tricky and mastery is nearly impossible (WTF underslung grenade launchers not launching explosive grenades).

Most of the time, the rooms are small enough you'll catch his countermeasure with a 'nade. If they're larger, then there're usually multiple entrances, and two guys with shotguns will do the trick unless the sniper is using a bot.

But you're right there. A plan never works 100% of the time, and I do still find myself on the recieving end of a Sniper's barrel every now and then when clearing a place. The quote "The only enemy of a good plan, is the dream of a perfect one." comes to mind.

And that tactic you use is the biggest joke whenever that sniper is me

I refuse to use claymores, and instead use a throwing knife with my secondary being a DE and Tactical Knife.
Is hilarious to see people storm the room and then a knife spree gets going.

Why does that make me think of that "Greatest knife-kill ever" video, where the guy throws a knife and it hits someone on the other side of the map.

Sure it was probably done with a bot, but it was still the best thing I've ever seen done with that game
