Hey guys, I just have to post a short rank on a increasingly obvious problem in the new Modern Warfare 2 game. In general, I've noticed that about 50-70% of enemy players now stick to camping lately, in nearly all the online game modes.
For those of you who don't know what "camping" is, it is a very simple skills-free tactic (generally associated with newbies, lol) in which you hide in a corner (or any other hidden place in general) and only shoot those enemy players that pass by you. When doing this, the player tends to never actually pursue anyone.
Not only is it frustrating to continue to get killed by this scaredy-cat player in the corner, but it's even more annoying when they get killstreaks and call in aircraft to smash you up!
I just can't see how it's fun to camp constantly while playing, and I was wondering if anyone shares my frustration?
ps: I will also note that there are many more players camping in this game than in the previous Modern Warfare (COD4), it's been proven on gaming forums, lol
Do not be afraid of the dark, it is harmless; be afraid of what dwells within it.
This would definitely be better suited in the Video Game forum. On topic though, I have noticed a significant amount of camping. So much so, that I almost exclusively play domination, CTF, or headquarters. Hardcore Team Deathmatch isn't too godawful though.
Ummm.... cry more? If they're such skill-less newbs why aren't you wiping the floor with them? If its such a sorry tactic why are they anything besides free kills for you? Seriously, stop parading your own inadequacy at the game around.

I find nothing wrong with campers or camping, if thats your game style then so be it. My mentallity for campers is "If you want this spot, take it over my dead body ... literally"
If I find a camper that I simply can't shift I simply avoid the area where possible, in fact its a bit moronic to keep trying and trying and trying to take a single spot just because the same guy keeps killing you ... thats what grenades are for.
Go outside for awhile. The weather might be nice. Better yet go outside with a cute lass, then you won't care about the weather?

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Personally I enjoy camping and shame on you if for some reason you can't find a way to get me, well you suck.
I mean, I'm in the same exact place for extended periods of time and you can't get me? Yes, I get killstreaks off of the noobs who are unable to either; 1)avoid my area of fire, 2)Counter-snipe me, 3)Flank me and stab me with a knife.
I can camp on quarry and newbs will think that they can somehow use the same exact hallway to get past me when I've killed them more than several times. When they start getting smart and stop using said hallway, I'll snipe acroos the map at people trying to flank me from the left. Here's a hint, use cover morons.
Ok ok guys, calm down. I'm not saying that campers are tearing me apart right now, nor am I saying that I can't fight back against them. Going back to what youngblood said, it just kind of makes the game a little less fun than if you where engaging the enemy in the field.
A few campers is always fun, but what I'm referring to is a game of 16 players (8 friendly and 8 enemy) where 6-7 of the enemy players are camping. It just gets boring, not challenging, just plain boring.
Now, lets not confuse camping with sniping too, they're completely different.
Oh and btw, I'm not a game freak Frazzled. I actually don't like video games (rather play a board game), I just was caught on to Call of Duty exclusively a few years back .

LOL, soldiers most certainly do not camp. If you are referring to snipers, then they "camp" for as long as necessary to get the ONE kill. If there are multiple targets, relocation is key. MW2 is not an accurate portrayal of military combat (duh).

Amen youngblood
The game is just meant for fun, and the camping becomes un-fun, if you know what I mean.

I would predict that after a few weeks/months, most people will have figured out how to counter a lot of the camping places and so the game will move onto something a bit more fluid than it currently is.
I would like to add that I really hate campers. It is very boring, as people have said, if everyone just sits about waiting for someone to walk in front of them. But then again I hated all the CoDMP games I have played (other than a bit of CoD3, which could be quite fun), not really my kind of crowd I guess. Ficking hated CoD:MW online.
I already know all the common camping places. Just a quick glance will tell me if someone is there. It's great because you can be guaranteed that someone will be there and it's an easy kill for you.
I like to stalk place where campers aren't as that throws a lot of folk off of their game.
Plus, a favourite game of mine is CamperBashing. Riot shields + Campers = SuperHappyFunTimes

Didnt't MW2 also have a kill cam? So you can watch your final moments again through the scope of the enemy? Isn't that a good enough indication of where the foe might be?

Point proven. Campers are at a disadvantage because of this so camping will decrease soon as people realise this.

Not in hardcore mode. I play hardcore almost exclusively now but noticed a huge increase in camping once my rank qualified me to use that gametype.

The only map I can see which campers have more of an advantage than other players is the one with the three crossed trenches in the middle. As they can pretty much ruin the game for anyone not wanting to play with a sniper rifle since there are areas you can't reach without coming out of cover for long stretches.
But apart from that level I have never seen camping as that much of a problem. They are usually easy kills once you know where they are.

Wasteland aka Breacourt. Amazing map. Lots of campers and they don't expect you to charge at them with a riotshield. What aren't you getting, people?!

I have a problem with fething riot shields. Seriously, what the feth, Infinity Ward?
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I played that map the other night in Ground War, all nine of us with riot shields, 'twas a beautiful, beautiful win.
In general, if you really want to play hardcore deathmatch then you have to be willing to put up with a lot of camping. If you're looking to avoid camping then play game modes like Domination. MW2 actually a lot to minimise the value of camping, riot shields, heartbeat sensors, killcams and scoring based entirely around kill totals and not net kills.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Works up until you get within 20 feet of him and another camper gets you from the side. Can't say I've ever had any trouble so far with people using riot shields, they cant sprint and s*** themselves when you throw a cooked grenade at them.

Yeah, this isn't going to be a definite buy for me. I'd rather save my money for Mass Effect 2 and Space Marine.
