Your supposed to be spending your money on stuff that makes you happy, this is a freaking hobby. Don't boycott your own hobby that's really the stupidest thing you could do. Your in essence boycotting your own enjoyment. If you really loathe GW then stop playing their games and purchasing their products based on your displeasure with them as a company.

Face the simple fact that no matter what you do you can't change GW. Enjoy what you can or GTFO.

Where does it say you can't have more than one hobby.
If I decide to spend more on seafishing or paintball, or even update my pc thats cool.
I don't have to give my money to GW

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

I'm much the same as others have posted on here - I dislike GW and their business practices (for a variety of reasons that have been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere) but I don't hate them enough to boycott them totally. The main problem is there is a lot of stuff I am interested in (BA stuff, new nids models for example). What I will do is only order through discount online stores - while I wont be able to hurt GW in the pocket I can at least avoid dealing directly with them.

What the feth?

'Your stupid for boycotting but if you don't like things as they are don't purchase...' - Ok, stay classy San Diego...

'Enjoy what you can or GTFO' - Erm... How about, buy what you want, continue to game, use other companies for the miniatures or purchase 2nd hand from others. Continue to enjoy hobby without making contribution to company.

I have no interest in 'getting the feth out' after 20 years, I have a continued interest in employing my brain when making a purchase. Perhaps you don't have to, perhaps you swim in money and have the social conscience of a rattlesnake, but for some, making informed purchases is a natural extension to the possession of intellect and a level of reasoning.

I've been true to my vow, in as that my vow was to purchase less this year from GWS (so far, nothing) and become involved with a different company that treats it's customers in a less shabby fashion. If I see something I truly must have from GWS, I'll get it and not feel a whit guilty about it. This is a hobby and you're supposed to enjoy it, not feel bad about it.

And you know, I think people posting stuff like "well, they're a huge company, you're not going to hurt them with your lack of purchasing..." - yes, but you're missing the point. Ceasing to purchase products from a company I do not respect isn't intended to hurt GWS - I'm not capable of doing so. It's intended to make me feel better about how I divert my funds.

Well crap. Skull pass didn't get me because both the armies in it are sort of silly-- nightgoblins don't really need any explanation on that front, but I find the dwarves to be comically misproportioned. Now if they come out with a WFB starter that's as good a value as Skull Pass or Black Reach and it's not full of miniatures I find silly, I'll probably get it.

When the C&D letters/Bloodbowl stuff happened, I was especially pissed off. But then I thought about it. I no longer want to effect change by voting with my wallet. It doesn't work. GW does what they do to make more money-- they've obviously stopped and considered whether or not the moves they make will be a net gain or a net drain after factoring in possible disgruntled customers. Boycotts and oaths not to buy their product are a drop in the ocean given their yearly revenue. GW expects their customers to eventually stop buying. And as long as there are new gamers to take our place, that's alright by them that you or I have stopped buying.

Will I stop buying GW stuff so I feel better about where my money goes? Nope. I just put together some GW plastics and it was a wonderful hobby experience-- felt great.

So now I use the miniatures I want with the rules I want. They don't have to be from the same manufacturer.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Haven't bought anything at all. Not been that difficult either - haven't even been vaguely tempted. Their "glamour" over me is long broken.

As you can see from my sig its more about me than about them and sense prevailing over nonsense, but it works.

Cheers
