If you're talking about the plastic shoulderpads, you better sell me the ones with the "ravenwing" icon on them. Need those in a bad way.

The abundance of grown men saying the word "cute" in this thread is disturbing.

I think it's pretty good for that quick of a job!

Three quick thoughts about possible future ones-
1) Is there a way to lower the backpack? It seems to be sticking up a little more than in the original.
2) Any ideas about the bits used on the original to add some detail to the front of the torso? It works as it is, but I bet there was something done to the front of his.
3) What to do about the feet? I actually think they look alright given the concept of using all shoulderpads . But maybe they could be a little closer together (which would raise the torso slightly, which might let the backpack be lower)?

All in all very nice . And if it was that fast to make, somebody with a bits box full of shoulder pads could crank out an army of these conversions in a day. That would be so cool!!

Yep backpack needs to be lower and some detail on the front on the lower half.

Good job though.

I wonder if I could do a LOD Army like this?

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

Very cool!

Here's a question. Would you play an army made of these? It's wreak havoc with TLOS.

Looking at the original pic, the "feet" do look closer together. This would raise the body slightly, which in turn will let the backpack be lower

You'd definitely have to allow the marines to be considered the height of normal marines so as not to gain a LOS advantage. I don't think that'd be the point of this army, though . It's more of a fun thing than an attempt to get a LOS advantage!

easy solution to that problem: scenic bases...

but having an obsession with chibi characters, im definitely going to have to partake in this idea...

an on the dreadnought note...
i think super squat and fat is in order...
or just a blown up version of the marine with mech arms?

maybe add like a small aquilla or even some small bit onto it to give you something to look like detail.. how many shoulderpads did that take you?im counting 8.

Backpack needs to be lower, almost to the ground. Did you shorten the shoulderpads used on the torso? If you did, you shouldn't have.

I'm considering what it would take to do this . It looks like all of the bits can be ordered from TheWarStore!

To make one squad of 10 you would need:

4 sets of shoulder pads: $3 x 4 = $12
1 set of backpacks: $3.50
10 sets of single bolt pistols: $0.50 x 10 = $5.00
2 sets of close combat weapons: $3 x 2 = $6.00
1/2 set of bases: $4 / 2 = $2

Total: $28.50! If you wanted to have a guaranteed set of left / right hands for the bolt pistol and close combat weapon, it'd be $5 more to the total for 2 of these sets instead.

I posted up a possible army list for the mini marines over in the 40k army list section for what I am thinking . 9 squads of drop podding mini-marines... mmm, mmm, good! Check it out: Link

Like I said I'm thinking it through... space marines in general turn me off, but this would be fun, I think . If I scratch-build the drop pods the cost is in the neighborhood of $250... maybe a little closer to $300 if I add in some cool bits (I would need special weapons, and some bits to customize them so they're not all the same!).

So what do you guys think of actually going through with this and fielding an army of these guys? Would it be cool, or would it get old too quick?

1) Yes, there is a way, i just put it all the way up there, cuz all the packs have a nice little rounded spot that fit perfectly on top of the shoulder pad

2) could probley cut off a aquilla from space marine body, and add it on, or do i little puirty seal
3) The feet i just slammed on, i was'ent even looking at the picture when i built this little guy

Don't buy ANYTHING.
All SM and CSM players have spare pads if they built their own and kept the bits.
Go to Bartertown's bits forum. Trade for them (cheaply, no doubt) or get them for FREE in the "Pay it Forward" thread.
I seriously doubt you'd have to spend HALF that much for this army if you did it right. The highest cost could be your parts for Drop Pods.
