Oh god, I have some of those lurking around. As well as the SW hair, Mr Chambers also sported some mightily impressive bugger grips.

- When you count up roughly how much you've spent on your Apocalypse armies, and realise you're getting dangerously close to 'holiday in Hawaii' money.

I think you are grossly overestimating how much it costs to go to Hawaii on vacation. If you own several apoc armies, you probably could have gone twice or more.

You build a gaming table in your only garage, that is so big that you can't park a car in it , and don't think any thing is wrong when your wife complains...

When you buy a house , you have to make sure there is enough storage space for you gaming needs , and don't care about a potential Nursery.....

You turn a full bed room in to an "office" that is basically one giant paint station....

Your wife already dreads seein the UPS/Fedex person showing up at 5pm

Your wife starts loading a pistol and looking for a baseball bat any time a box comes to the house with a customs declaration on it and the Address starting
"Willow Road
Lenton
Nottingham
NG7 2WS" on it....

You work out a budget and discover that your "gaming expenses" are as much as you Car payment....

When:

- more than 1/2 non furniture possessions when moving are Wargaming related...
- Edition / codex changes are meaningless as all needed models are already owned...
- One owns more tournament level+ sized armies than days of the week...
- Value of wargaming related posessions exceeds value of car...
- One can build a full army (2000+) out of leftovers from old and/or abborted armies...
- Can guiltlessly cut up rare OOP models for conversions because one has spares...
- Painting the existing collection would take more than the rest of one's lifespan, even if one's entire attention was focused on it for that duration...
- One owns a larger paint range than most stores, and has discontinued (but still usable) paints from bygone editions...
- One has given away entire squads to new players without a second thought...
- One owns 10 Fenbeasts of Albion...

It's time to downsize.

@keezus:

Well...
- Edition / codex changes are meaningless as all needed models are already owned...
- owns more tournament level+ sized armies than days of the week...
- Painting / re-painting the existing collection would take an excessive amount of time...
- has given away entire squads to new players without a second thought...
- owns 6 Wraithlords...

But...
- less than 1/2 non-furniture possessions are wargaming-related
- value of car exceeds wargaming related possessions
- cleared out leftovers and aborted armies years ago
- refuse to cut up rare OOP models for conversions because I like those models!
- has reasonable, but not excessive paint

As I'm only 50% on your scale, it's not too much.

Dear lord, Some of your wargaming areas, make mine look like a shoebox!

My wife would NEVER let me get away with something like that.

Not until we get a big house at least...

I'm so jealous....

I see your room'o'bitz and raise you several arguments with my mother insisting that I look for a 2 bedroom apartment rather than a 1 bedroom apartment, as I'd have no where to put my stuff.

Now I have a 2 bedroom apartment.

*L* I am there with you HBMC. My wife has accepted that a 20x20 basement, 10x10 section of dining room with book shelves and two closets in the living room and 1 more in the basement are not enough space for me. She is already figuring how we are going to have a new house with a gaming basement that is more female friendly (read, does not require standing up on hard floors for hours on end) and a living room with painting area behind the couch so we can watch movies together while I paint when we move.

Ahh, I love her.

The trick seems to be having another hobby she likes less that makes you travel and get injured more along with dragging her out into the sun and bugs and weather, and then having gaming be your "alternate" hobby. Every time she sees me picking up my swords and armor or talking about going to practice she says something along the lines of "You should see if the Warstore is having a special this week. Maybe paint me a new Inquisitor."

True dat.

#1. It takes you 3 hours to find your Yriel figure.

Okay, I've had this happen - except, it was during a game of Apocalypse. My brother deployed Yriel somewhere in a building that wasn't easily seen, and he got lost on the tabletop for a good few hours. During downtime, everyone was playing find Yriel...

You move in with your girlfriend, and you have to justify owning the following armies...
Warhammer Fantasy: Dwarves, Beastman, Skaven (2 armies), High Elves (unbuilt), Demons, Vampire Counts (1000 pts), a Slayer Army (on top of dwarves), Half converted Chaos Dwarves.
Warhammer 40k: Imperial Guard, a full company of spacemarine bikes, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, Orks (6000 pts)
Privateer Press: Skorne, Cygnar.

Then you try to justify owning all this, including scenary, and the army cases that came with it in addition to bitz boxes.

6 months later you own.
WFB: Dwarves, High Elves (Built!), Skaven (1 army), Demons
40K: Imperial Guard (GT List only- unpainted). Iron Warriors (1000 pts)
Privateer Press: Cygnar.

And: She has an engagement ring and has a plan set up on how to completely finish 1 army at a time, has coorinated your color schemes, and talked to the local shop guy to help you sell your excess armies.

I am a sad panda some days, and miss my bikes. But have to admit, I have gotten a lot more painting done, and holy crap did those bikes and armies sell for a lot.
