Yeah, I agree with Fatty_Tuna, the wing on the plasm pistol needs filling off. Also, I think the 'wolf head' helmet would look better as the wolf priests head. The posing is great, and the twin bladed axe fits the model really well.

Finally managed to get some time spent with the Lycan.

Fatty_Tuna wrote:I'd shave off the wing on the plasma pistol or make it fur with some green stuff.

I have to agree, so I've swapped it for the Plasma pistol from the SW Sprue, I did try adding some runes hanging from under the wrist, but they looked......... well gay, (sorry there no other way of describing it).
That aside runes were added and the helmet painted at least.

Wolf Priest Hyglak Albiesson

Today just as the paint dried, I tried out my new Wolf Priest in battle. Unusually for a newly painted figure he did surprisingly well, in his first outing he and the unit of Blood Claw he lead accounted for 4x their points in kills and captured an objective at the end of the game.
So to aid the game god in keeping this strange ability I though a little back story was needed.

As a young Blood Claw Hyglak Albiesson’s devotion put most of the Wolf Priests to shame, so in an attempt to harness this vigour he was inducted into the Wolfhood long before he had learned to curb his headstrong aggression, that more time with the Blood Claw would surely have tempered. Consequently Hyglak Albiesson exemplifies much of what it is to be a member of the Lycan, brutal and stubborn, giving no quarter, and steadfastly refusing to succumb to any foe. Even after years of service he still maintains a battle hungry temperament, which best suits his favoured role of leading the Blood Claw to battle.

Though his devotion to the Emperor was strong it was but a dim light compared to his loyalty for his Chapter. This loyalty has served the Lycan well over the years but no more so than during the battles with the Lycan’s heretical brethren. Hyglak was responsible for the interrogation of many of the fallen, and such was his disgust for their betrayal that he was willing to employ any means to obtain information, even methods that would have made a Dark Elder squirm.

Hyglak Albiesson is now a member of the Circle of Wolves, the inner court of the chapter, and now advises Buliwyf Asgradsson on the course of action needed, so that the chapter can survive what many see as the Lords of Terra’s unjust ruling. He is a strong advocate that if the Lycan must stand alone, but as in the great crusade, compliance must be forced upon those unwilling to comply with the Lycan’s requests, for surely the end out ways the means.

Great blog so far. After seeing the original color scheme and great poses on the models, I am hooked. The Wolf Priest kitbash looks fantastic finished. Definitely a great looking project so far and am looking forward to more in the future.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I really like the blending on the backpack wolf heads. Not quite so sold on the blue runestone, it might be colour matched to the armour accent colours but it looks a little jarring in my opinion.

The thing on the grounds from the Squadron Command Frame it’s the Elbar bit, I’ve know idea what its called…. I just cut it up a little so that it fitted on the stand and looked suitable damaged. It was painted in the colours of a friends Elbar army as a little joke at his expense.

This is a theme I’m running with for all the battlefield debris, bits from one friends army or another. Maybe that why I’m winning more often……….

I’m currently working on finishing a Grey Hunter pack, which will be followed by Terminator Wolf Guards. All of these are already assembled, but I will post the progression of the Wolf Guard.

The next conversion I’m planning, starting next pay day, is to make a unit of Thunderwolf Cavalry using Bloodcrushers.
So as I’m in the early planning stages any input would definitely be of help.

The painting and modelling threads, such as this one along with the assortment of very FINE new plastics that have come out in the past 5 years have me wanting to jump right in.

I might try and do a unit of Wolf scouts to break myself back in before the GKs come out in Jan.

Thanks guys, your praise made me blush (almost).

I was discussing my planned Bloodcrusher conversion with some friends last night, when one of my, means well, know it all mates advised that GW in fact making the Thunderwolfs Cavalry unit.

When pressed, he was unable to give any substance to that comment, so Dakka has anyone heard anything on this if so does anyone know when these will be released.

I’m of the opinion the they’ll never release the Thunderwolf's apart from the Canis Wolfborn model.

Making of the Thunderwolf.

Ok, where to start.

First obviously assembly the Bloodcrusher, now we have a Chaos looking beast - not good.

The rider, one space marine, all I need is the right legs.
I spent a little time considering my options, Bike rider, Calvary all seemed wrong. I noticed when passing a female horse rider the other day that the legs just need to grip the flank of the beast (I know pervert alert), and two sets to legs from the Space Wolves Pack were ideal ,if I separated them from the pelvis, all that was needed then was a saddle.

So here we are mount and 1/2 the rider, not bad considering this is my first attempt at sculpting.

All that's need now is to make it look more wolf less bloodcrusher.

Again your feed back would be appreciated.

More wolf less bloodcrucher.

My thoughts on what's needed.
1. Round off the Shoulder.
2. Fur.
3. Tail.
4. Ears.

So the transformation starts.

Once again your feed back would be appreciated.
