Great looking DP's although I would have to agree with Kaesar when he says that the left arm on the nurgle price looks silly, that is just the way it is sculpted though. If you did want to remove the hand, I hear that father Nurgle does like his tentacles!

Thanks guys! Glad you like them.

One thing I haven't managed to pull off is that I was thinking of having the Nurgle daemons mechanical parts have some hints at clockwork - not that they'd full on look like clockwork daemons, just some hints here and there - because the way clockwork slowly and inevitably winds down and runs out seems very much in line with ol' Papa Nurgle and the way he works. So if I remove the hand I might try to find some cogs and things and see if I can rig up something on the end of the arm which fits that aesthetic.

Looking great. I think the Tomb Spyder head idea is great though I don't think adding a compound eye ontop of the tri Tomb Spyder eye would look too good. Well, not in my head anyways. I'd have to see it WIP before I could say it's not a good idea don't use it. The rest looks amazing though!

Thanks LeBaron, glad you like it.

I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing with the tomb spider head, the ideas are sort of floating around in my head half-formed. I'll need to get one in my hands before I really work out what to do with it. so at this point I'm more brainstorming a general idea than making a real plan.

I need to get my FLGS to order in a few btiz packs for me sometime so I can make more of the daemonettes, and also try out the conversions I have planned for my flamers.

In the meantime, does anyone havbe any idea what I should do for my Horrors of Tzeentch? I want to work from the new plastic models - I know they're getting a lot of hate, and I do prefer the look of the old metal ones, but, and this is important - they're plastic. Plastic is MUCH easier to work with for conversions, especially on the small scale, and I want to keep as much of the army plastic as possible. I have the box sitting there, but no real idea of what to do with them. I'll probably clip one of the sprue and put it together while having my bitz box open in front of me, just in case inspiration strikes. But if anyone can suggest an interesting conversion, please do.

All I know is I want the mechanical parts of my Tzeentch daemons to look futuristic and high-tech - probably I'll use quite a few tau parts on the Tzeentch stuff, and maybe some eldar bitz as well. I have a general idea for the flamers, and to a lesser extend for some of the other models, but not idea what to do with the horrors, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some of the new Dark Eldar stuff would be excellent for the horrors, make them cable monsters with wiring and cable coming out of everywhere the image in my head has it running at something with the wires clipping the walls and floor arching out they would certainly live up to their name, you could gouge out sections of flesh and embed wires so it's like the cords and coils are writhing under it's flesh, bursting out here and there.

Thanks guys

@Santobell: Which of the Dark Eldar things were you thinking of in particular for the horrors?

I've been playing with the horror models tonight, and so far I'm not really happy with anything I've come up with. I've been working on Santobell's suggestion of "cables" and tried different ways and places of having cables stick out, none of which I think look very good. They're just rough concepts, just me playing around to see what works (or at least what doesn't).

Pics:

So yeah. We have one who's hand turns into cables, and has more cables coming from his armpit, one with cables sticking out of his body and using some of them as legs, and one spewing cables out it's mouth. Not my best work, I really just not 'feeling' these guys, so I don't really know what I'm doing with them, and they've ended up like this.

If anyone wants to see one of these guys close up, let me know and I'll take more pics.

Any suggestions on what to do with horrors? or maybe on other models to convert horrors from?

can't say myself about the horrors, besides that they could work if you put some flame effect at the ends of the wires, or possibly some visualization of lightnining. I just get electricity from mechanical daemons, call it crazy. I just like to bring up a favorite wuote of mine at times like this: The house is an elevator to hell with ghosts in the gas tank! I think I'm gonna put the horrors to one side for now until I get a better idea of what I want to do with them (That said, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know). I've got a tomb spider and a few other bits and pieces on order at my FLGS, so in a couple of weeks at most I'll be able to finish off the Nurgle Prince and make a start on my flamers among other things.

Assuming all goes well tonight I'll have finished the Nurgle prince's scythe and be able to post up some pics of that for you all.

Progress!
Was thinking about Commander Cain's suggestion that a tentacle would be a good replacement for the hand, and then reaslised that while it would be tricky to mod the prince to hold the scythe in two hands, one hand and a tentacle would be significantly easier. So that's what I went with.

Tentacle needs some touching up, as does the hand, and the attachment of the blade to the scythe - all of these being places where I broke it in the process of getting the scythe (a) into his grip and (b) pointing in vaguely the right direction.

I'm not dead!

I haven't been able to work on my hobbies for a while due to covering a friend's shifts at work over the weekend when I'd usually be working on my models. But I got a little painting done last night, so here's the initial painting on the Slaanesh prince:

Obviously still very much WIP at this stage, but gives an idea of what I'm going for. The colour scheme is pretty similar to the Daemonette, as will be the rest of my Slaanesh stuff.

In other news, tomorrow is payday (including extra money for those shifts I covered) and the models & bitz I've ordered from my FLGS should have arrived, so I'll hopefully be able to start work on the Nurgle prince's head this weekend, as well as working on my Flamer test model, and getting more of the bitz I need to make a squad of the daemonettes.

Looking good as always. Maybe the tentacle on the scythe could be a bit thinner and wrap around a bit more. Don't quite know, looks good either way.

Thanks guys.

Yeah the tentacle's still a bit off. It's thick in some places and thin in others, and isn't as round as I'd like (the cross section is sort of an oval rather than a circle). I need to try to fix it up but it was hard enough getting it holding the scythe in the first place that I've put it off for a bit. Rest assured I'll try to get back to it.

Depending how things go, I might even get some work done on the head and posted here tonight.

I should really stop trying to predict when I'll get work done on my army, as life always seems to get in the way

But better late than never, and I've managed to get some work done on the Nurgle DP's head today.

I want to do some more detail on the fleshy half of the face once this is dry and I can add to it, but it will still look somewhat like it's melting/oozing off. I tried to make it reminicent of a skull.

Since I couldn't sculpt anything I liked for a mouth, I opted for a feeding tube, which attaches to his chest, as can be seen in this pic:

Not quite as good as I was hoping, overall - I need more practice at sculpting details at a scale this small. But I think I can work with it by adding a bit to it.
Any C & C welcome.

Maybe blending the blues and the reds so the transition isnt so distinct on the Blood Crushers.... It might reinforce that they are one body....

Thanks guys! Glad you like my work.

@kaiservonhugal: I'm actually trying to go for a harder transition on the bloodcrushers - the idea is that when the bloodletters are 'upgraded' with juggernaut bodies, all the important connection stuff happens with their insides, but the flesh is attached simply by stretching out the flesh around the join, and then nailing it onto the top of the juggernaut. When I do more of them, I want to try to make the distinction more obvious when modelling, but having the greenstuff around the join not so smooth against the juggernaut, but having a ragged edge to look more like torn flesh.

I'll be doing some work tonight if life gives me the night off, hoping to start work on my chariots, or at least one of them. Want to get myself an HQ so I'm closer to being able to actually play a game with these guys.

In other news, I've been thinking about conversions for plaguebearers. I'm currently looking at the Crypt Ghouls or Zombies from Fantasy Vampire Counts to base the conversions on, but I'm not sure which. Anyone got an idea which would be better? Or any other models to suggest? Please let me know.

Sorry about the lack of progress. I'm moving to another city at the end of the year, and have been busy getting ready and finishing things up. I'm not sure how much more I'll manage to get done before I pack my modelling stuff up for transport, but once I'm set up in my new place I should be able to start posting updates more regularly.
In the meantime I need to focus on things like packing up my stuff and actually finding a place to live up there.

I have however managed to make a little progress - I've undercoated the Nurgle Prince (didn't bother taking a picture - he looks pretty much the same but white, and with a small grating added to disguise the join between the face and feeding tube) and started a batch of bases, which I've attached a pic of for your consideration:

The bases are made out of my parents old cork placemats, with a layer of fine grit glued on top with PVA glue. They've been basecoated in black and the lava channels have had a first coat in Mecharite red foundation paint. I'll be doing more red/orange layers on the lava, and drybrushing the surface with codex grey to show the texture better.

Really should be putting more effort into packing, but did this instead

Current progress on the Nurgle DP. skin is rotting flesh with a gryphonne sepia wash.. Metal parts (currently just wings painted) are intended to look rusty and old, I think I'm getting there.
hard non-metal parts (e.g. carnefex bankplate, etc) will be painted to look like boney plates.

Still a lot to do on this guy, probably won't be able to finish him before I move.

Any C & C welcome.

I'm back!

Sorry for the delay, but it's taken me some time to get myself set up in a new city, and adapt to my new job, which leaves me less time for my hobbies. But I've managed to get the ball rolling again, if a little slowly, so I'm officially declaring this modeling blog back in progress.

On to the pictures!

Here's the Nurgle DP in his current state. Still a fair bit to do on him, but he's coming along reasonably nicely.

From this angle you can get a better look at his scythe, which while not exactly how I'd pictured it, I'm mostly happy with.

And here's a close up on the scythe. Basecoat was a mix of Dark Angels Green and Chaos Black, edging done in Dark Angels, then Snot, and finally with Scorpion green. The skull will be done to match the bony parts of the prince.

And here he is from the back, in all his rusty glory.

Any comments or criticism gratefully appreciated - I'm hoping that this blog will help motivate me to keep going on this project and not just let it slide.

Welcome back- and I hear you with getting motivation from the thread to keep at 100 speed, or at least close. Maybe if I did one I would move a bit quicker... But! I see you've started painting your daemon. I like the rust looks, but I trust the skin will have a bit more realism or depth soonish? Otherwise, nice work. Continue as thou wilt.

I'm in the same boat as you, kind of. I find it massively helpful getting comments in my WIP thread, as it really drives me to carry on. Of course, it's kinda a double edged sword (Or a similar analogy) as sometimes, when you get maybe 1 or even no comments from your work that your proud of, it really degrades your motivation, and makes you wonder why other peoples threads are so successful, and how yours always hits page 2 before the end of the day...

Sorry.

Regardless, I'm loving the nurgle Prince. Especially the insect wing style you've given him. It's certainly meshing technology with the Daemonic very successfully! I eagerly await more
